Psalm 27
1 [Von David.] Jehova ist mein Licht und mein Heil, vor wem sollte ich mich fürchten? Jehova ist meines Lebens Stärke, [Eig. Feste, Schutzwehr] vor wem sollte ich erschrecken?
A Psalm of David, before he was sealed. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
2 Als Übeltäter mir nahten, um mein Fleisch zu fressen, meine Bedränger und meine Feinde-sie strauchelten und fielen.
Meanwhile, the guilty draw near to me, so as to eat my flesh. Those who trouble me, my enemies, have themselves been weakened and have fallen.
3 Wenn sich ein Heer wider mich lagert, nicht fürchtet sich mein Herz; wenn Krieg sich wider mich erhebt, hierauf vertraue ich:
If entrenched armies were to stand together against me, my heart would not fear. If a battle were to rise up against me, I would have hope in this.
4 Eines habe ich von Jehova erbeten, nach diesem will ich trachten: zu wohnen im Hause Jehovas alle Tage meines Lebens, um anzuschauen die Lieblichkeit [O. Huld; wie Sach. 11,7. 10] Jehovas und nach ihm zu forschen in seinem Tempel.
One thing I have asked of the Lord, this I will seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, so that I may behold the delight of the Lord, and may visit his temple.
5 Denn er wird mich bergen in seiner [Nach and. Lesart: in einer; wie Ps. 31,20] Hütte am Tage des Übels, er wird mich verbergen in dem Verborgenen [O. Schirm, Schutz] seines Zeltes; auf einen Felsen wird er mich erhöhen.
For he has hidden me in his tabernacle. In the day of evils, he has protected me in the hidden place of his tabernacle.
6 Und nun wird mein Haupt erhöht sein über meine Feinde rings um mich her; und Opfer des Jubelschalls will ich opfern in seinem Zelte, ich will singen und Psalmen singen [Eig. singspielen] Jehova.
He has exalted me upon the rock, and now he has exalted my head above my enemies. I have circled around and offered a sacrifice of loud exclamation in his tabernacle. I will sing, and I will compose a psalm, to the Lord.
7 Höre, Jehova, mit meiner Stimme rufe ich; und sei mir gnädig und erhöre mich!
Hear my voice, O Lord, with which I have cried out to you. Have mercy on me, and hear me.
8 Von dir [O. Zu dir; and.: Für dich] hat mein Herz gesagt: Du sprichst: Suchet mein Angesicht! -Dein Angesicht, Jehova, suche ich. [O. will ich suchen]
My heart has spoken to you; my face has sought you. I yearn for your face, O Lord.
9 Verbirg dein Angesicht nicht vor mir, weise nicht ab im Zorne deinen Knecht! Du bist meine Hülfe gewesen; laß mich nicht und verlaß mich nicht, Gott meines Heils!
Do not turn your face away from me. In your wrath, do not turn aside from your servant. Be my helper. Do not abandon me, and do not despise me, O God, my Savior.
10 Denn hätten mein Vater und meine Mutter mich verlassen, so nähme doch Jehova mich auf.
For my father and my mother have left me behind, but the Lord has taken me up.
11 Lehre mich, Jehova, deinen Weg, und leite mich auf ebenem Pfade um meiner Feinde [Eig. Nachsteller] willen!
O Lord, establish a law for me in your way, and direct me in the right path, because of my enemies.
12 Gib mich nicht preis der Gier meiner Bedränger! denn falsche Zeugen sind wider mich aufgestanden und der da Gewalttat schnaubt.
Do not surrender me to the souls of those who trouble me. For unjust witnesses have risen up against me, and iniquity has lied to itself.
13 Wenn ich nicht geglaubt hätte, [O. glaubte] das Gute [O. die Güte] Jehovas zu schauen im Lande der Lebendigen!
I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.
14 Harre auf Jehova! sei stark, und dein Herz fasse Mut, und harre auf Jehova!
Wait for the Lord, act manfully; and let your heart be strengthened, and remain with the Lord.
