Psalm 138

1 [Von David.] Preisen will ich dich mit meinem ganzen Herzen, will dich besingen vor den Göttern.

A Psalme of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: euen before the gods will I praise thee.

2 Ich will anbeten gegen deinen heiligen Tempel, und deinen Namen preisen um deiner Güte und deiner Wahrheit willen; denn du hast dein Wort [O. deine Zusage] groß gemacht über all deinen Namen.

I will worship toward thine holy Temple and praise thy Name, because of thy louing kindenesse and for thy trueth: for thou hast magnified thy Name aboue all things by thy word.

3 An dem Tage, da ich rief, antwortetest du mir; du hast mich ermutigt: in meiner Seele war Kraft.

When I called, then thou heardest me, and hast encreased strength in my soule.

4 Alle Könige der Erde werden dich preisen, Jehova, wenn sie gehört haben die Worte deines Mundes;

All the Kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord: for they haue heard the wordes of thy mouth.

5 Und sie werden die Wege Jehovas besingen, denn [O. daß] groß ist die Herrlichkeit Jehovas.

And they shall sing of the wayes of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord is great.

6 Denn Jehova ist hoch, und er sieht den Niedrigen, und den Hochmütigen erkennt er von ferne.

For the Lord is high: yet he beholdeth the lowly, but the proude he knoweth afarre off.

7 Wenn ich inmitten der Drangsal wandle, wirst du mich beleben; wider den Zorn meiner Feinde wirst du deine Hand ausstrecken, und deine Rechte wird mich retten.

Though I walke in the middes of trouble, yet wilt thou reuiue me: thou wilt stretch foorth thine hand vpon the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall saue me.

8 Jehova wirds für mich vollenden. Jehova, deine Güte währt ewiglich. Laß nicht [O. Du wirst nicht lassen] die Werke deiner Hände!

The Lord will performe his worke toward me: O Lord, thy mercie endureth for euer: forsake not the workes of thine handes.
