Psalm 135

1 [Lobet Jehova! [Hallelujah!] ] Lobet den Namen Jehovas! Lobet, ihr Knechte Jehovas,

Hallelujah. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord;

2 Die ihr stehet im Hause Jehovas, in den Vorhöfen des Hauses unseres Gottes!

Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.

3 Lobet Jehova! [Hallelujah!] denn gut ist Jehova; singet Psalmen seinem Namen! denn er [O. es] ist lieblich.

Hallelujah; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is lovely.

4 Denn Jehova [Hebr. Jah] hat sich Jakob erwählt, Israel zu seinem Eigentum.

For Jacob hath the Lord chosen unto himself, Israel, as his peculiar treasure.

5 Denn ich weiß, daß Jehova groß ist, und unser Herr groß vor allen Göttern.

For I well know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 Alles, was Jehova wohlgefällt, tut er in den Himmeln und auf der Erde, in den Meeren und in allen Tiefen;

Whatsoever the Lord willeth, hath he done in the heavens, and on the earth, in the seas, and in all the deeps.

7 Der Dünste aufsteigen läßt vom Ende der Erde, der Blitze macht zum Regen, [O. für den Regen, d. h. um ihn anzukündigen; vergl. Sach. 10,1] der den Wind herausführt aus seinen Vorratskammern;

He causeth clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with the rain; he bringeth forth the wind out of his treasuries.

8 Der die Erstgeborenen Ägyptens schlug vom Menschen bis zum Vieh,

[He it is] who smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and of cattle;

9 Zeichen und Wunder sandte in deine Mitte, Ägypten, wider den Pharao und wider alle seine Knechte;

Who sent signs and wonderful tokens into the midst of thee, O Egypt, against Pharaoh, and against all his servants;

10 Der große Nationen schlug und starke Könige tötete:

Who smote many nations, and slew mighty kings;

11 Sihon, den König der Amoriter, und Og, den König von Basan, und alle Königreiche Kanaans;

Sichon the king of the Emorites, and 'Og the king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan;

12 Und ihr Land als Erbteil gab, als Erbteil seinem Volke Israel.

And gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance unto Israel his people.

13 Jehova, dein Name währt ewiglich, Jehova, dein Gedächtnis [Vergl. 2. Mose 3,15] von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.

O Lord, thy name [endureth] for ever: O Lord, thy memorial is throughout all generations.

14 Denn Jehova wird sein Volk richten, [O. seinem Volke Recht schaffen] und er wird sichs gereuen lassen [O. sich erbarmen] über seine Knechte. [Vergl. 5. Mose 32,36]

For the Lord will espouse the cause of his people, and concerning his servants will he bethink himself.

15 Die Götzen der Nationen sind Silber und Gold, ein Werk von Menschenhänden.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of the hands of men.

16 Einen Mund haben sie und reden nicht; Augen haben sie und sehen nicht;

Mouths they have, but they speak not; eyes they have, but they see not;

17 Ohren haben sie und hören nicht; auch ist kein Odem in ihrem Munde.

Ears they have, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouth.

18 Ihnen gleich sind die, die sie machen, ein jeder, der auf sie vertraut.

Like them are those that make them, every one that trusteth in them.

19 Haus Israel, preiset Jehova! Haus Aaron, preiset Jehova!

O house of Israel, bless ye the Lord; O house of Aaron, bless ye the Lord.

20 Haus Levi, preiset Jehova! Die ihr Jehova fürchtet, preiset Jehova!

O house of Levi, bless ye the Lord; ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord.

21 Gepriesen sei Jehova von Zion aus, der zu Jerusalem wohnt! Lobet Jehova! [Halleluja!]

Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, even he that resideth at Jerusalem. Hallelujah.
