Psalm 106
1 [Lobet Jehova! [Hallelujah!] ] Preiset [O. Danket] Jehova! denn er ist gut, denn seine Güte währt ewiglich.
Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
2 Wer wird aussprechen die Machttaten Gottes, hören lassen all sein Lob? [O. all seinen Ruhm]
Who shall tell the mighty acts of the Lord? [who] shall cause all his praises to be heard?
3 Glückselig die das Recht bewahren, der Gerechtigkeit übt zu aller Zeit!
Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do righteousness at all times.
4 Gedenke meiner, Jehova, mit der Gunst gegen dein Volk; suche mich heim mit deiner Rettung!
Remember us, O Lord, with the favor [you have] to your people: visit us with your salvation;
5 Daß ich anschaue die Wohlfahrt deiner Auserwählten, mich erfreue an [O. mit] der Freude deiner Nation, mich rühme mit deinem Erbteil.
that we may behold the good of your elect, that we may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that we may glory with your inheritance.
6 Wir haben gesündigt samt unseren Vätern, [O. wie unsere Väter] haben unrecht getan, [Eig. verkehrt gehandelt] haben gesetzlos gehandelt.
We have sinned with our fathers, we have transgressed, we have done unrighteously.
7 Unsere Väter in Ägypten beachteten nicht deine Wundertaten, gedachten nicht der Menge deiner Gütigkeiten und waren widerspenstig am Meere, beim Schilfmeere.
Our fathers in Egypt understood not your wonders, and remembered not the multitude of your mercy; but provoked [him] as they went up by the Red Sea.
8 Aber er rettete sie um seines Namens willen, um kundzutun seine Macht.
Yet he saved them for his name's sake, that he might cause his mighty power to be known.
9 Und er schalt das Schilfmeer, und es ward trocken; und er ließ sie durch die Tiefen [O. Fluten; s. die Anm. zu Ps. 33,7] gehen wie durch eine Wüste.
And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: so he led them through the deep as through the wilderness.
10 Und er rettete sie aus der Hand des Hassers, und erlöste sie aus der Hand des Feindes.
And he saved them out of the hand of them that hated [them], and redeemed them out of the hand of the enemy.
11 Und die Wasser bedeckten ihre Bedränger, nicht einer von ihnen blieb übrig.
The water covered those that oppressed them: there was not one of them left.
12 Da glaubten sie seinen Worten, sie sangen sein Lob.
Then they believed his words, and celebrated his praise.
13 Schnell vergaßen sie seine Taten, warteten nicht auf seinen Rat; [Hier in dem Sinne von Plan, Ratschluß]
They made haste, they forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel.
14 Und sie wurden lüstern in der Wüste und versuchten Gott [El] in der Einöde.
And they lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the dry [land].
15 Da gab er ihnen ihr Begehr, aber er sandte Magerkeit in ihre Seelen.
And he gave them their request, and sent fullness into their souls.
16 Und sie wurden eifersüchtig auf Mose im Lager, auf Aaron, den Heiligen Jehovas.
They provoked Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord.
17 Die Erde tat sich auf, und verschlang Dathan und bedeckte die Rotte Abirams;
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and closed upon the congregation of Abiron.
18 Und ein Feuer brannte unter ihrer Rotte, eine Flamme verzehrte die Gesetzlosen.
And a fire was kindled in their congregation, and a flame burnt up the sinners.
19 Sie machten ein Kalb am Horeb und bückten sich vor einem gegossenen Bilde;
And they made a calf in Choreb, and worshipped the graven image,
20 Und sie vertauschten ihre Herrlichkeit gegen das Bild eines Stieres, der Gras frißt.
and they changed their glory into the similitude of a calf that feeds on grass.
21 Sie vergaßen Gottes, [El] ihres Retters, der Großes getan in Ägypten,
They forgot God that saved them, who had wrought great deeds in Egypt;
22 Wundertaten im Lande Hams, Furchtbares am Schilfmeer.
wondrous [works] in the land of Cham, and terrible things at the Red Sea.
23 Da sprach er, daß er sie vertilgen wollte, wenn nicht Mose, sein Auserwählter, vor ihm in dem Riß gestanden hätte, um seinen Grimm vom Verderben abzuwenden.
So he said that he would have destroyed them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn [him] away from the fierceness of his anger, so that he should not destroy them.
24 Und sie verschmähten das köstliche Land, glaubten nicht seinem Worte;
Moreover they set at nothing the desirable land, and believed not his word.
25 Und sie murrten in ihren Zelten, hörten nicht auf die Stimme Jehovas.
And they murmured in their tents: they listened not to the voice of the Lord.
26 Da schwur er ihnen, [Eig. erhob er ihnen seine Hand] sie niederzuschlagen in der Wüste,
So he lifted up his hand against them, to cast them down in the wilderness;
27 Und ihren Samen niederzuschlagen unter den [And. l.: zu vertreiben unter die] Nationen und sie zu zerstreuen in die Länder.
and to cast down their seed among the nations, and to scatter them in the countries.
28 Und sie hängten sich an Baal-Peor und aßen Schlachtopfer der Toten; [d. h. der toten Götzen]
They were joined also to Beelphegor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. And they provoked him with their devices;
29 Und sie erbitterten ihn durch ihre Handlungen, und eine Plage brach unter sie ein.
and destruction, was multiplied among them.
30 Da stand Pinehas auf und übte Gericht, und der Plage ward gewehrt.
Then Phinees stood up, and made atonement: and the plague ceased.
31 Und es wurde ihm zur Gerechtigkeit gerechnet von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht bis in Ewigkeit.
And it was counted to him for righteousness, to all generations for ever.
32 Und sie erzürnten ihn an dem Wasser von Meriba, und es erging Mose übel ihretwegen;
They provoked him also at the water of Strife, and Moses was hurt for their sakes;
33 Denn sie reizten seinen Geist, so daß er [O. weil sie widerspenstig waren gegen seinen Geist, und er] unbedacht redete mit seinen Lippen.
for they provoked his spirit, and he spoke [unadvisedly] with his lips.
34 Sie vertilgten die Völker nicht, wie doch [W. welche] Jehova ihnen gesagt hatte;
They destroyed not the nations which the Lord told them [to destroy];
35 Und sie vermischten sich mit den Nationen und lernten ihre Werke;
but were mingled with the heathen, and learned their works.
36 Und sie dienten ihren Götzen, und sie wurden ihnen zum Fallstrick.
And they served their graven images; and it became an offense to them.
37 Und sie opferten ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter den Dämonen.
And they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to devils,
38 Und sie vergossen unschuldiges Blut, das Blut ihrer Söhne und ihrer Töchter, welche sie den Götzen Kanaans opferten; und das Land wurde durch Blut entweiht.
and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Chanaan; and the land was defiled with blood.
39 Und sie verunreinigten sich durch ihre Werke und hurten durch ihre Handlungen.
and was polluted with their works; and they went a whoring with their own devices.
40 Da entbrannte der Zorn Jehovas wider sein Volk, und er verabscheute sein Erbteil;
So the Lord was very angry with his people, and he abhorred his inheritance.
41 Und er gab sie in die Hand der Nationen, und ihre Hasser herrschten über sie;
And he delivered them into the hands of [their] enemies; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42 Und ihre Feinde bedrückten sie, und sie wurden gebeugt unter ihre Hand.
Ands their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought down under their hands.
43 Oftmals errettete er sie; sie aber waren widerspenstig in ihren Anschlägen, [Eig. in ihrem Ratschlag] und sie sanken hin durch ihre Ungerechtigkeit.
Many a time he delivered them; but they provoked him by their counsel, and they were brought low by their iniquities.
44 Und er sah an ihre Bedrängnis, wenn er ihr Schreien hörte;
You the Lord looked upon their affliction, when he heard their petition.
45 Und er gedachte ihnen seinen Bund, und es reute ihn nach der Größe seiner Güte. [Eig. der Menge seiner Gütigkeiten]
And he remembered his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercy.
46 Und er ließ sie Erbarmen finden vor allen, die sie gefangen weggeführt hatten.
And he caused them to be pitied in the sight of all who carried them captive.
47 Rette uns, Jehova, unser Gott, und sammle uns aus den Nationen, daß wir deinen heiligen Namen preisen, daß wir uns rühmen deines Lobes!
Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise.
48 Gepriesen sei Jehova, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Und alles Volk sage: Amen! Lobet Jehova! [Hallelujah!]
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting and to everlasting; and all the people shall say, Amen, Amen.
