Nehemia 3

1 Und Eljaschib, der Hohepriester, und seine Brüder, die Priester, machten sich auf und bauten das Schaftor; sie heiligten es und setzten seine Flügel ein. Und sie heiligten es bis an den Turm Mea, bis an den Turm Hananel.

Then rose up Elyashib the high priest with his brethren the priests, and they built the sheep-gate; they sanctified it, and set up its doors: even as far as the tower of Meah did they sanctify it, as far as the tower of Chananel.

2 Und ihm zur Seite bauten die Männer von Jericho. Und ihnen zur Seite baute Sakkur, der Sohn Imris.

And by his side built the men of Jericho. And by his [other] side built Zaccur the son of Imri.

3 Und das Fischtor bauten die Söhne Senaas; sie bälkten es und setzten seine Flügel, seine Klammern und seine Riegel [Querbalken] ein.

But the fish-gate did the sons of Hassenaah build: they also laid its beams, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.

4 Und ihnen zur Seite besserte aus Meremoth, der Sohn Urijas, des Sohnes Hakkoz. Und ihm zur Seite besserte aus Meschullam, der Sohn Berekja, des Sohnes Meschesabeels. Und ihm zur Seite besserte aus Zadok, der Sohn Baanas.

And alongside of them repaired Meremoth the son of Uriyah, the son of Kakkoz. And alongside of them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechyah, the son of Meshezabel. And alongside of them repaired Zadok the son of Ba'ana.

5 Und ihm zur Seite besserten die Tekoiter aus; aber die Vornehmen unter ihnen beugten ihren Nacken nicht unter den Dienst [Eig. brachten ihren Nacken nicht in den Dienst] ihres Herrn.

And alongside of them repaired the Teko'ites; but their principal men put not their necks to the work of their Lord.

6 Und das Tor der alten Mauer besserten aus Jojada, der Sohn Paseachs, und Meschullam, der Sohn Besodjas; sie bälkten es und setzten seine Flügel, seine Klammern und seine Riegel ein.

Moreover the old gate repaired Yoyada' the son of Passeach, and Meshullam the son of Bessodeyah: they laid its beams, and set up its doors, and its locks, and its bars.

7 Und ihnen zur Seite besserten aus Melatja, der Gibeoniter, und Jadon, der Meronothiter, Männer von Gibeon und Mizpa, gegen den Gerichtsstuhl des Landpflegers diesseit des Stromes hin.

And alongside of them repaired Melatyah the Gib'onite, and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gib'on and of Mizpah, unto the seat of the governor on this side of the river.

8 Ihnen zur Seite besserte aus Ussiel, der Sohn Harchajas, welche Goldschmiede waren. Und ihm zur Seite besserte aus Hananja, von den Salbenmischern. Und sie ließen Jerusalem bis an die breite Mauer, wie es war.

Alongside of him repaired 'Uzziel the son of Charhayah, of the goldsmiths. And alongside of him repaired Chananyah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem as far as the broad wall.

9 Und ihm zur Seite besserte aus Rephaja, der Sohn Hurs, der Oberste des halben Bezirks von Jerusalem.

And alongside of them repaired Rephayah the son of Chur, the chief of the half of the district of Jerusalem.

10 Und ihm zur Seite besserte aus Jedaja, der Sohn Harumaphs, und zwar seinem Hause gegenüber. Und ihm zur Seite besserte aus Hattusch, der Sohn Haschabnejas.

And alongside of them repaired Jedayah the son of Charumaph, and this opposite to his house. And alongside of him repaired Chattush the son of Chashabneyah.

11 Malkija, der Sohn Harims, und Haschub, der Sohn Pachath-Moabs, besserten eine andere Strecke aus und den Ofenturm. [Eig. den Turm der Öfen]

Another division did Malkiyah the son of Charim, and Chashub the son of Pachathmoab, repair, as also the tower of the ovens.

12 Und ihnen zur Seite besserte aus Schallum, der Sohn Hallochesch, der Oberste des anderen halben Bezirks von Jerusalem, er und seine Töchter.

And alongside of him repaired Shallum the son of Hallochesh, the chief of the other half of the district of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

13 Das Taltor besserten aus Hanun und die Bewohner von Sanoach; sie bauten es und setzten seine Flügel, seine Klammern und seine Riegel ein, und bauten tausend Ellen an der Mauer bis zum Misttore.

The gate of the valley repaired Chanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoach: they built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the dung-gate.

14 Und das Misttor besserte aus Malkija, der Sohn Rekabs, der Oberste des Bezirks von Beth-Kerem; er baute es und setzte seine Flügel, seine Klammern und seine Riegel ein.

And the dung-gate repaired Malkiyah the son of Rechah, the chief of the district of Beth-hakkerem: he built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.

15 Und das Quelltor besserte aus Schallun, der Sohn Kol-Hoses, der Oberste des Bezirks von Mizpa; er baute es und überdachte es und setzte seine Flügel, seine Klammern und seine Riegel ein; und er baute die Mauer am Teiche Siloah [Hebr. hier Schelach] bei dem Garten des Königs und bis zu den Stufen, welche von der Stadt Davids hinabgehen.

And the gate of the fountain repaired Shallum the son of Col-chozeh, the chief of the district of Mizpah: he built it and covered it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and the wall of the pool of Shelach by the king's garden, and as far as the stairs that lead down from the city of David.

16 Nächst ihm besserte aus Nehemia, der Sohn Asbuks, der Oberste des halben Bezirks von Beth-Zur, bis gegenüber den Gräbern Davids und bis zu dem Teiche, der angelegt worden war, und bis zu dem Hause der Helden.

Next to him repaired Nehemiah the son of 'Azbuk, the chief of the half district of Beth-zur, as far as the place opposite to the sepulchres of David, and as far as the pool that was [newly] made, and as far as the house of the mighty men.

17 Nächst ihm besserten aus die Leviten, Rechum, der Sohn Banis. Ihm zur Seite besserte aus Haschabja, der Oberste des halben Bezirks von Kehila, für seinen Bezirk.

Next to him repaired the Levites: Rechum the son of Bani. Alongside of him repaired Chashabyah, the chief of the half district of Ke'ilah, for his district.

18 Nächst ihm besserten aus ihre Brüder, Bawai, der Sohn Henadads, der Oberste des anderen halben Bezirks von Kehila.

Next to him repaired their brethren: Bavai the son of Chenadad, the chief of the [other] half district of Ke'ilah.

19 Und ihm zur Seite besserte Eser, der Sohn Jeschuas, der Oberste von Mizpa, eine andere Strecke aus, gegenüber dem Aufgang zum Zeughause des Winkels.

And there repaired alongside of him 'Ezer the son of Joshua, the chief of Mizpah, another division, opposite to the ascent to the armory at the angle.

20 Nächst ihm besserte Baruk, der Sohn Sabbais, eine andere Strecke eifrig aus, vom Winkel bis zum Eingang des Hauses Eljaschibs, des Hohenpriesters.

Next to him did Baruch the son of Zaccai' earnestly repair another division, from the angle as far as the door of the house of Elyashib the high priest.

21 Nächst ihm besserte Meremoth, der Sohn Urijas, des Sohnes Hakkoz, eine andere Strecke aus, vom Eingang des Hauses Eljaschibs bis zum Ende des Hauses Eljaschibs.

Next to him repaired Meremoth the son of Uriyah the son of Hakkoz another division, from the door of the house of Elyashib even as far as the end of the house of Elyashib.

22 Und nächst ihm besserten aus die Priester, die Männer des Jordankreises.

And next to him repaired the priests, the men of the plain [of Jordan].

23 Nächst ihnen besserten aus Benjamin und Haschub, ihrem Hause gegenüber. Nächst ihnen besserte aus Asarja, der Sohn Maasejas, des Sohnes Ananjas, neben seinem Hause.

Next to him repaired Benjamin and Chashub opposite to their house. Next to him repaired 'Azaryah the son of Ma'aseyah the son of 'Ananyah alongside of his house.

24 Nächst ihm besserte Binnui, der Sohn Henadads, eine andere Strecke aus, vom Hause Asarjas bis an den Winkel und bis an die Ecke.

Next to him repaired Binnui the son of Chenadad another division, from the house of 'Azaryah as far as the angle, and as far as the corner.

25 Palal, der Sohn Usais, besserte aus gegenüber dem Winkel und dem hohen Turme, welcher an dem Hause des Königs vorspringt, der bei dem Gefängnishofe ist. Nächst ihm Pedaja, der Sohn Parhosch. -

Palal the son of Uzai [repaired] from opposite to the angle, and the tower which standeth out from the king's upper house, that was by the court of the prison. Next to him Pedayah the son of Par'osh.

26 Und die Nethinim wohnten auf dem Ophel [S. die Anm. zu 2. Chron. 27,3] bis gegenüber dem Wassertore nach Osten und dem vorspringenden Turme. -

And the temple-servants dwelt on the hill fort, [and they built] as far as opposite to the water-gate toward the east, and the tower that standeth out.

27 Nächst ihm besserten die Tekoiter eine andere Strecke aus, dem großen vorspringenden Turme gegenüber und bis zur Mauer des Ophel.

Next to them repaired the Teko'ites another division from opposite the great tower that standeth out, and as far as the wall of the hill fort.

28 Oberhalb des Roßtores besserten die Priester aus, ein jeder seinem Hause gegenüber.

From above the horse-gate repaired the priests, every one opposite to his house.

29 Nächst ihnen besserte aus Zadok, der Sohn Immers, seinem Hause gegenüber. Und nächst ihm besserte aus Schemaja, der Sohn Schekanjas, der Hüter des Osttores.

Next to this repaired Zadok the son of Immer opposite to his house. And next to him repaired Shema'yah the son of Schechanyah, the keeper of the east gate.

30 Nächst ihm besserten Hananja, der Sohn Schelemjas, und Hanun, der sechste Sohn Zalaphs, eine andere Strecke aus. Nächst ihm besserte aus Meschullam, der Sohn Berekjas, seiner Zelle [Viell. Wohnung] gegenüber.

Next to him repaired Chananyah the son of Shelemyah, and Chanun the sixth son of Zalaph another division. Next to him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechyah opposite to his chamber.

31 Nächst ihm besserte aus Malkija, von den Goldschmieden, bis an das Haus der Nethinim und der Krämer, dem Tore Miphkad gegenüber und bis an das Obergemach [Wahrsch. eine mit einem Obergemach versehene Bastei] der Ecke.

Next to him repaired Malkiyah the goldsmith's son as far as the house of the temple-servants, and of the merchants, opposite to the mustering-gate, and to the upper chamber of the corner.

32 Und zwischen dem Obergemach der Ecke und dem Schaftore besserten die Goldschmiede und die Krämer aus.

And between the upper chamber of the corner and the sheep-gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
