Jeremia 37
1 Und Zedekia, der Sohn Josias, welchen Nebukadrezar, der König von Babel, zum König gemacht hatte im Lande Juda, regierte als König an der Stelle Konjas, des Sohnes Jojakims.
Now King Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, reigned instead of Coniah, the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, made king in the land of Judah.
2 Und weder er, noch seine Knechte, noch das Volk des Landes hörten auf die Worte Jehovas, welche er durch Jeremia, den Propheten, geredet hatte.
But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land regarded the words of Jehovah, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
3 Und der König Zedekia sandte Jehukal, den Sohn Schelemjas, und Zephanja, den Sohn Maasejas, den Priester, zu dem Propheten Jeremia und ließ ihm sagen: Bete doch für uns zu Jehova, unserem Gott!
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal, the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “Pray now to Jehovah our God for us.”
4 Und Jeremia ging ein und aus inmitten des Volkes, und man hatte ihn noch nicht ins Gefängnis gesetzt.
Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not cast him into prison.
5 Und das Heer des Pharao war aus Ägypten ausgezogen; und die Chaldäer, welche Jerusalem belagerten, hatten die Kunde von ihnen vernommen und waren von Jerusalem abgezogen.
And Pharaoh's army had come forth out of Egypt; and the Chaldaeans, who were besieging Jerusalem, having heard tidings of them, had departed from Jerusalem.
6 Und das Wort Jehovas geschah zu Jeremia, dem Propheten, also:
Then came the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
7 So spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Also sollt ihr dem König von Juda sagen, der euch zu mir gesandt hat, um mich zu befragen: Siehe, das Heer des Pharao, welches euch zu Hülfe ausgezogen ist, wird in sein Land Ägypten zurückkehren.
Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of me: Behold, the army of Pharaoh, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt, into their own land.
8 Und die Chaldäer werden wiederkommen und gegen diese Stadt streiten, und sie werden sie einnehmen und mit Feuer verbrennen.
And the Chaldaeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9 So spricht Jehova: Täuschet euch nicht selbst, daß ihr sprechet: Die Chaldäer werden gewißlich von uns wegziehen; denn sie werden nicht wegziehen.
Thus saith Jehovah: Deceive not yourselves, saying, “The Chaldaeans shall surely depart from us”; for they shall not depart.
10 Denn wenn ihr auch das ganze Heer der Chaldäer schlüget, die wider euch streiten, und es blieben unter ihnen nur einige durchbohrte Männer übrig, so würden diese ein jeder in seinem Zelte aufstehen und diese Stadt mit Feuer verbrennen.
For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldaeans that fight against you, and there remained only wounded men among them, each one in his tent, yet should they rise up and burn this city with fire.
11 Und es geschah, als das Heer der Chaldäer von Jerusalem abgezogen war vor dem Heere des Pharao,
And it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldaeans had marched away from Jerusalem because of the army of Pharaoh,
12 da ging Jeremia aus Jerusalem hinaus, um in das Land Benjamin unter das Volk zu gehen, um seinen Anteil von dort zu holen.
that Jeremiah was going forth from Jerusalem, to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive thence his inheritance among the people.
13 Und als er im Tore Benjamin war, wo ein Befehlshaber der Wache stand, namens Jerija, der Sohn Schelemjas, der Sohnes Hananjas, ergriff dieser Jeremia, den Propheten und sprach: Du willst zu den Chaldäern überlaufen.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “Thou art going over to the Chaldaeans.”
14 Und Jeremia sprach: Eine Lüge! ich will nicht zu den Chaldäern überlaufen. Aber er hörte nicht auf ihn, und Jerija nahm Jeremia fest und brachte ihn zu den Fürsten.
And Jeremiah said, “It is false; I am not going over to the Chaldaeans.” But he hearkened not to him; so Irijah took Jeremiah and brought him to the princes.
15 Und die Fürsten gerieten in Zorn über Jeremia und schlugen ihn, und sie setzten ihn in Gewahrsam im Hause Jonathans, des Schreibers; denn dieses hatten sie zum Gefängnis gemacht.
And the princes were enraged against Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that a prison.
16 Als Jeremia in den Kerker [W. Haus der Grube; wahrsch. ein unterirdischer Kerker, ] und zwar in die Gewölbe, gekommen war, und Jeremia viele Tage dort gesessen hatte,
And when Jeremiah had gone into the dungeon, and into the cells, and had remained there a long time,
17 da sandte der König Zedekia hin und ließ ihn holen. Und der König fragte ihn in seinem Hause insgeheim und sprach: Ist ein Wort da von seiten Jehovas? Und Jeremia sprach: Es ist eines da, nämlich: Du wirst in die Hand des Königs von Babel gegeben werden.
then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out; and the king asked him in his house privately, and said, “Hast thou any word from Jehovah?” And Jeremiah said, “I have.” And he said, “Into the hand of the king of Babylon shalt thou be delivered.”
18 Und Jeremia sprach zu dem König Zedekia: Was habe ich an dir, oder an deinen Knechten, oder an diesem Volke gesündigt, daß ihr mich ins Gefängnis gesetzt habt?
And Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, What offence have I committed against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
19 Wo sind denn eure Propheten, die euch geweissagt und gesagt haben: Der König von Babel wird nicht über euch noch über dieses Land kommen?
And where are your prophets, who prophesied to you, saying, “The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?”
20 Und nun höre doch, mein Herr König: Laß doch mein Flehen vor dich kommen und bringe mich nicht in das Haus Jonathans, des Schreibers, zurück, damit ich nicht daselbst sterbe.
But now hear, I pray thee, my lord the king! let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee, and cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there!
21 Da gebot der König Zedekia, und man versetzte Jeremia in den Gefängnishof; und man gab ihm täglich einen Laib Brot aus der Bäckerstraße, bis alles Brot in der Stadt aufgezehrt war. So blieb Jeremia im Gefängnishofe.
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city should be consumed. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
