Jeremia 26

1 Im Anfang der Regierung Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, geschah dieses Wort von seiten Jehovas also:

When Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, first became king, this word came from the Lord, saying,

2 So spricht Jehova: Tritt in den Vorhof des Hauses Jehovas und zu allen Städten Judas, welche kommen, um anzubeten im Hause Jehovas, rede alle die Worte, welche ich dir geboten habe, zu ihnen zu reden; tue kein Wort davon.

This is what the Lord has said: Take your place in the open square of the Lord's house and say to all the towns of Judah, who come into the Lord's house for worship, everything I give you orders to say to them: keep back not a word;

3 Vielleicht werden sie hören und ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege umkehren: So werde ich mich des Übels gereuen lassen, welches ich ihnen zu tun gedenke wegen der Bosheit ihrer Handlungen.

It may be that they will give ear, and that every man will be turned from his evil way, so that my purpose of sending evil on them because of the evil of their doings may be changed.

4 Und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Jehova: Wenn ihr nicht auf mich höret, daß ihr in meinem Gesetz wandelt, welches ich euch vorgelegt habe,

And you are to say to them, This is what the Lord has said: If you do not give ear to me and go in the way of my law which I have put before you,

5 daß ihr auf die Worte meiner Knechte, der Propheten, höret, welche ich zu euch sende, früh mich aufmachend und sendend [ihr habt aber nicht gehört]:

And give ear to the words of my servants the prophets whom I send to you, getting up early and sending them, though you gave no attention;

6 so will ich dieses Haus wie Silo machen, und diese Stadt werde ich zum Fluche machen allen Nationen der Erde.

Then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this town a curse to all the nations of the earth.

7 Und die Priester und die Propheten und alles Volk hörten Jeremia diese Worte reden im Hause Jehovas.

And in the hearing of the priests and the prophets and all the people, Jeremiah said these words in the house of the Lord.

8 Und es geschah, als Jeremia alles zu Ende geredet, was Jehova geboten hatte, zu dem ganzen Volke zu reden, da ergriffen ihn die Priester und die Propheten und alles Volk und sprachen: Du mußt gewißlich sterben.

Now, when Jeremiah had come to the end of saying everything the Lord had given him orders to say to all the people, the priests and the prophets and all the people took him by force, saying, Death will certainly be your fate.

9 Warum hast du im Namen Jehovas geweissagt und gesprochen: Dieses Haus wird wie Silo werden, und diese Stadt verwüstet, ohne Bewohner? Und alles Volk versammelte sich gegen Jeremia im Hause Jehovas.

Why have you said in the name of the Lord, This house will be like Shiloh, and this land a waste with no one living in it? And all the people had come together to Jeremiah in the house of the Lord.

10 Und als die Fürsten von Juda diese Worte hörten, gingen sie hinauf aus dem Hause des Königs zum Hause Jehovas und setzten sich in den Eingang des neuen Tores Jehovas.

And the rulers of Judah, hearing of these things, came up from the king's house to the house of the Lord, and took their seats by the new door of the Lord's house.

11 Und die Priester und die Propheten redeten zu den Fürsten und zu allem Volke und sprachen: Diesem Manne gebührt die Todesstrafe [Eig. ein Todesurteil; so auch v 16,] denn er hat wider diese Stadt geweissagt, wie ihr mit euren Ohren gehört habt.

Then the priests and the prophets said to the rulers and to all the people, The right fate for this man is death; for he has said words against this town in your hearing.

12 Und Jeremia redete zu den Fürsten und zu allem Volke und sprach: Jehova hat mich gesandt, um wider dieses Haus und wider diese Stadt all die Worte zu weissagen, welche ihr gehört habt.

Then Jeremiah said to all the rulers and to all the people, The Lord has sent me as his prophet to say against this house and against this town all the words which have come to your ears.

13 Und nun machet gut eure Wege und eure Handlungen, und höret auf die Stimme Jehovas, eures Gottes: so wird Jehova sich des Übels gereuen lassen, welches er über euch geredet hat.

So now, make a change for the better in your ways and your doings, and give ear to the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will let himself be turned from the decision he has made against you for evil.

14 Ich aber, siehe, ich bin in eurer Hand; tut mir, wie es gut und wie es recht ist in euren Augen.

As for me, here I am in your hands: do with me whatever seems good and right in your opinion.

15 Doch wisset bestimmt, daß ihr, wenn ihr mich tötet, unschuldiges Blut bringen werdet auf euch und auf diese Stadt und auf ihre Bewohner; denn in Wahrheit, Jehova hat mich zu euch gesandt, um alle diese Worte vor euren Ohren zu reden.

Only be certain that, if you put me to death, you will make yourselves and your town and its people responsible for the blood of one who has done no wrong: for truly, the Lord has sent me to you to say all these words in your ears.

16 Und die Fürsten und alles Volk sprachen zu den Priestern und zu den Propheten: Diesem Manne gebührt nicht die Todesstrafe; denn er hat im Namen Jehovas, unseres Gottes, zu uns geredet.

Then the rulers and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, It is not right for this man to be put to death: for he has said words to us in the name of the Lord our God.

17 Und es erhoben sich Männer von den Ältesten des Landes, und sie sprachen zu der ganzen Versammlung des Volkes und sagten:

Then some of the responsible men of the land got up and said to all the meeting of the people,

18 Micha, der Moraschtiter [d. h. von Morescheth-Gath; vergl. Micha 1,1. 14., ] hat in den Tagen Hiskias, des Königs von Juda, geweissagt und zu dem ganzen Volke von Juda gesprochen und gesagt: So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen: "Zion wird als Acker gepflügt werden, und Jerusalem wird zu Trümmerhaufen und der Berg des Hauses [d. h. des Tempels] zu Waldeshöhen werden". [Micha 3,12]

Micah the Morashtite, who was a prophet in the days of Hezekiah, king of Judah, said to all the people of Judah, This is what the Lord of armies has said: Zion will become like a ploughed field, and Jerusalem will become a mass of broken walls, and the mountain of the house like the high places of the woodland.

19 Haben denn Hiskia, der König von Juda, und ganz Juda ihn getötet? Hat er [d. i. Hiskia] nicht Jehova gefürchtet und Jehova angefleht, so daß Jehova sich des Übels gereuen ließ, welches er über sie geredet hatte? Und wir wollen eine so große Übeltat wider unsere Seelen begehen!

Did Hezekiah and all Judah put him to death? did he not in the fear of the Lord make prayer for the grace of the Lord, and the Lord let himself be turned from the decision he had made against them for evil? By this act we might do great evil against ourselves.

20 Und es war auch ein Mann, der im Namen Jehovas weissagte, Urija, der Sohn Schemajas, aus Kirjath-Jearim; und er weissagte wider diese Stadt und wider dieses Land nach allen Worten Jeremias.

And there was another man who was a prophet of the Lord, Uriah, the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath-jearim; he said against this town and against this land all the words which Jeremiah had said:

21 Und als der König Jojakim und alle seine Helden und alle Fürsten seine Worte hörten, suchte der König ihn zu töten. Und als Urija es hörte, fürchtete er sich und floh, und er kam nach Ägypten.

And when his words came to the ears of Jehoiakim the king and all his men of war and his captains, the king would have put him to death; but Uriah, hearing of it, was full of fear and went in flight into Egypt:

22 Da sandte der König Jojakim Männer nach Ägypten, Elnathan, den Sohn Akbors, und Männer mit ihm nach Ägypten.

And Jehoiakim the king sent Elnathan, the son of Achbor, and certain men with him, into Egypt.

23 Und sie brachten Urija aus Ägypten und führten ihn zu dem König Jojakim; und er erschlug ihn mit dem Schwerte und warf seinen Leichnam auf die Gräber der Kinder des Volkes [d. h. auf die Gräber des gemeinen Volkes.]

And they took Uriah out of Egypt and came back with him to Jehoiakim the king; who put him to death with the sword, and had his dead body put into the resting-place of the bodies of the common people.

24 Doch die Hand Achikams, des Sohnes Schaphans, war mit Jeremia, daß man ihn nicht in die Hand des Volkes gab, um ihn zu töten.

But Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, gave Jeremiah his help, so that he was not given into the hands of the people to be put to death.
