Jeremia 22
1 So sprach Jehova: Geh hinab in das Haus des Königs von Juda, und rede daselbst dieses Wort
Thus said Jehovah: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and there speak these words.
2 und sprich: Höre das Wort Jehovas, König von Juda, der du auf dem Throne Davids sitzest, du und deine Knechte und dein Volk, die ihr durch diese Tore einziehet.
Hear the word of Jehovah, thou king of Judah, That sittest upon the throne of David, Thou, and thy servants, and thy people, Who go in and out through these gates!
3 So spricht Jehova: Übet [O. Schaffet] Recht und Gerechtigkeit, und befreiet den Beraubten aus der Hand des Bedrückers; und den Fremdling, die Waise und die Witwe bedrücket und vergewaltiget nicht, und vergießet nicht unschuldiges Blut an diesem Orte.
Thus saith Jehovah: Do justice and righteousness; Deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor; To the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow Do no wrong, do no violence, And shed no innocent blood in this place!
4 Denn wenn ihr dieses Wort wirklich tun werdet, so werden durch die Tore dieses Hauses Könige einziehen, welche auf dem Throne Davids sitzen [S. die Anm. zu Kap. 13,13,] auf Wagen fahrend und auf Rossen reitend, er und seine Knechte und sein Volk.
For if ye shall do this, Then shall there enter in through the gates of this house Kings, who shall sit upon the throne of David, Riding in chariots and upon horses, Each one with his servants and his people.
5 Wenn ihr aber nicht auf diese Worte höret, so habe ich bei mir geschworen, spricht Jehova, daß dieses Haus zur Einöde werden soll.
But if ye will not hearken to these words, By myself do I swear, saith Jehovah, That this house shall become a desolation.
6 Denn also spricht Jehova über das Haus des Königs von Juda: Du bist mir ein Gilead [Gilead ist noch heutzutage durch seine Waldungen berühmt, ] ein Haupt des Libanon; wenn ich dich nicht zur Wüste machen werde, zu unbewohnten Städten!
For thus saith Jehovah to the house of the king of Judah: Gilead art thou to me, yea, the summit of Lebanon; Yet will I make thee a desert, As cities not inhabited.
7 Und ich werde Verderber wider dich weihen, einen jeden mit seinen Waffen, und sie werden die Auswahl deiner Cedern umhauen und ins Feuer werfen.
I will appoint against thee destroyers, Every one with his weapons; And they shall cut down thy choice cedars, And cast them into the fire.
8 Und viele Nationen werden an dieser Stadt vorüberziehen, und einer wird zum anderen sagen: Warum hat Jehova an dieser großen Stadt also getan?
And many nations shall pass by this city, And they shall say one to another, “Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus to this great city?”
9 Und man wird sagen: Weil sie den Bund Jehovas, ihres Gottes, verlassen und sich vor anderen Göttern niedergebeugt und ihnen gedient haben.
Then shall they answer: “Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah their God, And worshipped strange gods, And served them.”
10 Weinet nicht um den Toten, und beklaget ihn nicht; weinet vielmehr um den Weggezogenen, denn er wird nicht mehr zurückkehren und das Land seiner Geburt sehen.
Weep not for him that is dead, Make no lamentation for him! Weep, weep ye for him who is gone away; For he shall return no more, Nor see his native land!
11 Denn so spricht Jehova von Schallum [Derselbe wie Joahas; vergl. 1. Chr. 3,15; 2. Chr. 36,1,] dem Sohne Josias, dem König von Juda, welcher König ward an seines Vaters Josia Statt, und der aus diesem Orte weggezogen ist: er wird nicht mehr hierher zurückkehren;
For thus saith Jehovah Concerning Shallum, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, Who reigned instead of Josiah his father, Who went forth from this place: He shall return to it no more;
12 sondern an dem Orte, wohin sie ihn weggeführt haben, daselbst wird er sterben, und er wird dieses Land nicht wiedersehen.
But in the place whither they have led him captive shall he die, And shall see this land no more.
13 Wehe dem, der sein Haus mit Ungerechtigkeit baut und seine Obergemächer mit Unrecht, der seinen Nächsten umsonst arbeiten läßt und ihm seinen Lohn nicht gibt;
Woe to him that buildeth his house with injustice, And his upper apartments with wrong; That exacteth a man's service without wages, And giveth him no recompense!
14 der da spricht: Ich will mir ein geräumiges Haus bauen und weite Obergemächer! und er haut sich Fenster aus und deckt mit Cedern, und er streicht es an mit Zinnober.
That saith, “I will build me a large house, And spacious apartments,” And that cutteth out windows, And ceileth it with cedar, And painteth it with vermilion!
15 Bist du ein König, weil du in Cedern wetteiferst? Hat nicht dein Vater gegessen und getrunken und Recht und Gerechtigkeit geübt? da erging es ihm wohl.
Shalt thou reign because thou rivallest others in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink? Yet he had regard to justice and equity; Therefore it was well, with him.
16 Er hat die Rechtssache des Elenden und des Armen gerichtet; da stand es wohl. Heißt das nicht mich erkennen? spricht Jehova.
He maintained the cause of the poor and needy; Then was it well with him; Was not this to know me, saith Jehovah?
17 Denn deine Augen und dein Herz [O. Sinn] sind auf nichts gerichtet als auf deinen Gewinn, und auf das Blut des Unschuldigen, um es zu vergießen, und auf Bedrückung und Gewalttat, um sie zu verüben.
But thine eyes and thy heart are only upon thine own gain, And the shedding of innocent blood, And deeds of violence and oppression.
18 Darum spricht Jehova von Jojakim, dem Sohne Josias, dem König von Juda, also: man wird nicht um ihn klagen: Wehe, mein Bruder! und: Wehe, Schwester! Man wird nicht um ihn klagen: Wehe, Herr! und: Wehe, seine Herrlichkeit!
Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Concerning Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah: They shall not lament for him, saying, “Alas, my brother!” or, “Alas, sister!” They shall not lament for him, saying, “Alas, lord!” or, “Alas, his glory!”
19 Mit dem Begräbnis eines Esels wird er begraben werden; man wird ihn fortschleifen und wegwerfen weit hinweg von den Toren Jerusalems.
With the burial of an ass shall he be buried, Dragged along and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
20 Steige auf den Libanon und schreie, und erhebe deine Stimme auf dem Gebirge Basan und schreie vom Abarim her; denn zerschmettert sind alle deine Buhlen.
Go thou up to Lebanon and cry, [[O Jerusalem!]] And upon Bashan lift up thy voice; Cry aloud from Abarim! For all thy lovers are fallen.
21 Ich redete zu dir in deinem Wohlergehen; du sprachst: Ich will nicht hören. Das war dein Weg von deiner Jugend an, daß du auf meine Stimme nicht hörtest.
I spake to thee in thy prosperity, But thou saidst, “I will not hear.” This hath been thy manner from thy youth; Thou hast not obeyed my voice.
22 Der Wind wird alle deine Hirten abweiden, [d. h. wegraffen] und deine Buhlen werden in die Gefangenschaft gehen. Ja, dann wirst du beschämt und zu Schanden werden ob all deiner Bosheit.
The wind shall consume all thy shepherds, And thy lovers shall go into captivity; Then shalt thou be ashamed And confounded for all thy wickedness.
23 Die du auf dem Libanon wohnst und auf den Cedern nistest, wie mitleidswürdig wirst du sein [And.: wie wirst du seufzen, ] wenn Schmerzen dich ankommen, Wehen, der Gebärenden gleich!
O thou that dwellest in Lebanon, That makest thy nest in cedars, How wretched shalt thou be, when anguish cometh upon thee, Pain, as of a woman in travail!
24 So wahr ich lebe, spricht Jehova, wenn auch Konja [Der Name Konja oder Jekonja ist gleichbedeutend mit Jojakin, ] der Sohn Jojakims, der König von Juda, ein Siegelring wäre an meiner rechten Hand, so würde ich dich doch von dannen wegreißen.
As I live, saith Jehovah, Thou Coniah, son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, Though thou wert the signet upon my right hand, Even thence would I pluck thee!
25 Und ich werde dich in die Hand derer geben, welche nach deinem Leben trachten, und in die Hand derer, vor welchen du dich fürchtest, und in die Hand Nebukadrezars, des Königs von Babel, und in die Hand der Chaldäer.
And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, And into the hand of them that thou fearest, Even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, And into the hand of the Chaldaeans.
26 Und ich werde dich und deine Mutter, die dich geboren hat, in ein anderes Land schleudern, wo ihr nicht geboren seid; und daselbst werdet ihr sterben.
And I will cast thee forth, And thy mother that bore thee, Into a foreign land, Where ye were not born; And there shall ye die.
27 Und in das Land, wohin sie sich sehnen zurückzukehren, dahin werden sie nicht zurückkehren. -
To the land to which they desire to return, Thither shall they not return.
28 Ist denn dieser Mann Konja ein verachtetes Gefäß, das man zertrümmert, oder ein Gerät, an welchem man kein Gefallen hat? Warum werden sie weggeschleudert, er und sein Same, und in ein Land geworfen, das sie nicht kennen? -
“Is then this man Coniah a contemptible broken vessel? Is he a vessel which no man careth for? Wherefore are he and his offspring cast forth, And thrown into a land which they know not?”
29 O Land, Land, Land, höre das Wort Jehovas!
O land, land, land, hear the word of Jehovah!
30 So spricht Jehova: Schreibet diesen Mann auf als kinderlos, als einen Mann, der kein Gedeihen hat in seinen Tagen; denn von seinem Samen wird nicht einer gedeihen, der auf dem Throne Davids sitze und fortan über Juda herrsche.
Thus saith Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, A man that shall not be prosperous through his life; For none of his offspring shall prosper, So as to sit on the throne of David, And reign hereafter in Judah.
