Jesaja 20

1 In dem Jahre, da der Tartan [Assyrischer Amtsname des Oberfeldherrn] nach Asdod kam, als Sargon, der König von Assyrien, ihn gesandt hatte, und er wider Asdod stritt und es einnahm:

In the year that Tartan entered Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria, sent him, —and he fought against Ashdod and captured it, —

2 in dieser Zeit redete Jehova durch Jesaja, den Sohn Amoz, und sprach: Geh und löse das Sacktuch von deinen Lenden und ziehe deine Sandalen von deinen Füßen. Und er tat also, ging nackt [d. h. ohne Oberkleid] und barfuß.

At that time, spake Yahweh, through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, And thy sandal, draw thou off from thy foot, —And he did so, walking disrobed and barefoot.

3 Und Jehova sprach: Gleichwie mein Knecht Jesaja nackt und barfuß gegangen ist, drei Jahre lang ein Zeichen und Vorbild betreffs Ägyptens und betreffs Äthiopiens:

Then said Yahweh, —As my servant Isaiah, hath walked, disrobed and barefoot three years as a sign and a wonder against Egypt and against Ethiopia,

4 also wird der König von Assyrien die Gefangenen Ägyptens und die Weggeführten Äthiopiens hinwegtreiben, Jünglinge und Greise, nackt und barfuß und mit entblößtem Gesäß, zur Schande Ägyptens.

So, shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia young and old disrobed and barefoot, with their persons behind Uncovered the shame of Egypt.

5 Und sie werden bestürzt und beschämt sein wegen Äthiopiens, ihrer Zuversicht, und wegen Ägyptens, ihres Ruhmes.

Thus shall they be confounded and turn pale, —For Ethiopia, their expectation, and For Egypt their boast;

6 Und die Bewohner dieses Küstenlandes [d. i. Palästinas] werden an jenem Tage sprechen: Siehe, also ist es mit unserer Zuversicht, wohin wir um Hülfe flohen, um vor dem Könige von Assyrien errettet zu werden! und wie sollten wir entrinnen?

And the inhabitant of this shore, shall exclaim, in that day, Lo! such, is our expectation, whereunto we fled for help, that we might be delivered from the presence of the king of Assyria! How then shall, we, escape?
