Hosea 12
1 Ephraim weidet sich an Wind und jagt dem Ostwinde nach; den ganzen Tag mehrt es Lüge und Gewalttat; und sie schließen einen Bund mit Assyrien, und Öl wird nach Ägypten gebracht.
Ephraim is fed with the winde, and followeth after the East winde: hee increaseth daily lies and destruction, and they do make a couenant with Asshur, and oyle is caried into Egypt.
2 Auch mit Juda hat Jehova einen Rechtsstreit; und er wird Jakob heimsuchen nach seinen Wegen, nach seinen Handlungen ihm vergelten. -
The Lord hath also a controuersie with Iudah, and will visite Iaakob, according to his waies: according to his workes, wil he recompence him.
3 Im Mutterleibe hielt er seines Bruders Ferse, und in seiner Manneskraft kämpfte er mit Gott [El]:
Hee tooke his brother by the heele in the wombe, and by his strength he had power with God,
4 er kämpfte mit dem Engel und überwand, er weinte und flehte zu ihm; zu Bethel fand er ihn, und daselbst redete er mit uns.
And had power ouer the Angel, and preuailed: he wept and praied vnto him: he founde him in Beth-el, and there he spake with vs.
5 Und Jehova, der Gott der Heerscharen-Jehova ist sein Gedenkname [Eig. sein Gedächtnis.]
Yea, the Lord God of hostes, the Lord is himselfe his memoriall.
6 Du denn, kehre um zu deinem Gott; bewahre Güte und Recht, und hoffe beständig auf deinen Gott.
Therefore turne thou to thy God: keepe mercy and iudgement, and hope still in thy God.
7 Ein Kaufmann ist er; in seiner Hand ist eine Waage des Betrugs, er liebt zu übervorteilen.
He is Canaan: the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loueth to oppresse.
8 Und Ephraim spricht: ich bin doch reich geworden, habe mir Vermögen erworben; in all meinem Erwerb wird man mir keine Ungerechtigkeit nachweisen [Eig. finden, ] welche Sünde wäre.
And Ephraim saide, Notwithstanding I am rich, I haue found me out riches in all my labours: they shall finde none iniquitie in me, that were wickednesse.
9 Ich aber bin Jehova, dein Gott, vom Lande Ägypten her; ich werde dich wieder in Zelten wohnen lassen wie in den Tagen der Festfeier.
Though I am the Lord thy God, from the land of Egypt, yet will I make thee to dwel in the tabernacles, as in the daies of the solemne feast.
10 Und ich habe zu den Propheten geredet, ja, ich habe Gesichte vermehrt und durch die Propheten in Gleichnissen geredet.
I haue also spoken by the Prophets, and I haue multiplied visions, and vsed similitudes by the ministerie of the Prophets.
11 Wenn Gilead [S. Kap. 6,8] Frevel [O. Nichtswürdigkeit, Nichtigkeit] ist, so werden sie nur Nichtiges werden. In Gilgal opferten sie Stiere; so werden auch ihre Altäre wie Steinhaufen sein auf den Furchen des Feldes.
Is there iniquitie in Gilead? surely they are vanitie: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal, and their altars are as heapes in the furrowes of the field.
12 Und Jakob entfloh nach dem Gefilde von Aram, und Israel diente um ein Weib und hütete um ein Weib.
And Iaakob fled into the countrey of Aram, and Israel serued for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheepe.
13 Und Jehova führte Israel durch einen Propheten aus Ägypten herauf, und durch einen Propheten wurde es gehütet.
And by a Prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a Prophet was he reserued.
14 Ephraim erzürnte ihn bitterlich, und sein Herr wird seine Blutschuld auf ihm lassen und seine Schmähung ihm vergelten.
But Ephraim prouoked him with hie places: therefore shall his blood be powred vpon him, and his reproche shall his Lord reward him.
