1 Mose 35
1 Und Gott sprach zu Jakob: Mache dich auf, ziehe hinauf nach Bethel und wohne daselbst, und mache daselbst einen Altar dem Gott, [El] der dir erschienen ist, als du vor deinem Bruder Esau flohest.
And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to the place, Baethel, and dwell there; and make there an altar to the God that appeared to you, when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.
2 Da sprach Jakob zu seinem Hause und zu allen, die bei ihm waren: Tut die fremden Götter hinweg, die in eurer Mitte sind, und reiniget euch und wechselt eure Kleider;
And Jacob said to his house, and to all that were with him, Remove the strange gods that are with you from the midst of you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes.
3 und wir wollen uns aufmachen und nach Bethel hinaufziehen, und ich werde daselbst einen Altar machen dem Gott, [El] der mir geantwortet hat am Tage meiner Drangsal und mit mir gewesen ist auf dem Wege, den ich gewandelt bin.
And let us rise and go up to Baethel, and let us there make an altar to God who listened to me in the day of calamity, who was with me, and preserved me throughout in the journey, by which I went.
4 Und sie gaben Jakob alle fremden Götter, die in ihrer Hand, und die Ringe, die in ihren Ohren waren, [d. h. die sie als Amulette trugen] und Jakob vergrub sie unter der Terebinthe, die bei Sichem ist.
And they gave to Jacob the strange gods, which were in their hands, and the ear-rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the turpentine tree which is in Secima, and destroyed them to this day.
5 Und sie brachen auf. Und der Schrecken Gottes kam über die Städte, die rings um sie her waren, so daß sie den Söhnen Jakobs nicht nachjagten.
So Israel departed from Secima, and the fear of God was upon the cities round about them, and they did not pursue after the children of Israel.
6 Und Jakob kam nach Lus, welches im Lande Kanaan liegt, das ist Bethel, er und alles Volk, das bei ihm war.
And Jacob came to Luza, which is in the land of Chanaan, which is Baethel, he and all the people that were with him.
7 Und er baute daselbst einen Altar und nannte den Ort El-Bethel: [Gott des Gotteshauses] denn Gott hatte sich ihm daselbst geoffenbart, als er vor seinem Bruder floh.
And he built there an altar, and called the name of the place Baethel; for there God appeared to him, when he fled from the face of his brother Esau.
8 Und Debora, die Amme Rebekkas, starb, und sie wurde begraben unterhalb Bethel unter der Eiche; und man gab ihr den Namen Allon Bakuth. [Eiche des Weinens]
And Deborrha, Rebecca's nurse, died, and was buried below Baethel under the oak; and Jacob called its name, The Oak of Mourning.
9 Und Gott erschien dem Jakob wiederum, als er aus Paddan-Aram kam, und segnete ihn.
And God appeared to Jacob once more in Luza, when he came out of Mesopotamia of Syria, and God blessed him.
10 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Dein Name ist Jakob; dein Name soll hinfort nicht Jakob heißen, sondern Israel soll dein Name sein. Und er gab ihm den Namen Israel.
And God said to him, Your name shall not be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name; and he called his name Israel.
11 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Ich bin Gott, [El] der Allmächtige, sei fruchtbar und mehre dich; eine Nation und ein Haufe von Nationen soll aus dir werden, und Könige sollen aus deinen Lenden hervorkommen.
And God said to him, I am your God; increase and multiply; for nations and gatherings of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come out of your loins.
12 Und das Land, das ich Abraham und Isaak gegeben habe, dir will ich es geben, und deinem Samen nach dir will ich das Land geben.
And the land which I gave to Abraam and Isaac, I have given it to you; and it shall come to pass that I will give this land also to your seed after you.
13 Und Gott fuhr von ihm auf an dem Orte, wo er mit ihm geredet hatte.
And God went up from him from the place where he spoke with him.
14 Und Jakob richtete ein Denkmal auf an dem Orte, wo er mit ihm geredet hatte, ein Denkmal von Stein, und spendete darauf ein Trankopfer und goß Öl darauf.
And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God spoke with him, [even] a pillar of stone; and offered a libation upon it, and poured oil upon it.
15 Und Jakob gab dem Orte, woselbst Gott mit ihm geredet hatte, den Namen Bethel.
And Jacob called the name of the place in which God spoke with him, Baethel.
16 Und sie brachen auf von Bethel. Und es war noch eine Strecke Landes, um nach Ephrath zu kommen, da gebar Rahel, und es wurde ihr schwer bei ihrem Gebären.
[[And Jacob removed from Baethel, and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Gader, ]] and it came to pass when he drew near to Chabratha, to enter into Ephratha, Rachel travailed; and in her travail she was in hard labor.
17 Und es geschah, als es ihr schwer wurde bei ihrem Gebären, da sprach die Hebamme zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht, denn auch dieser ist dir ein Sohn!
And it came to pass in her hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Be of good courage, for you shall also have this son.
18 Und es geschah, als ihre Seele ausging [denn sie starb], da gab sie ihm den Namen Benoni; [Sohn meiner Not] sein Vater aber nannte ihn Benjamin. [Sohn der Rechten, d. h. des Glückes]
And it came to pass in her giving up the ghost (for she was dying), that she called his name, The son of my pain; but his father called his name Benjamin.
19 Und Rahel starb und wurde begraben an dem Wege nach Ephrath, das ist Bethlehem.
So Rachel died, and was buried in the way of the course of Ephratha, this is Bethleem.
20 Und Jakob richtete über ihrem Grabe ein Denkmal auf, das ist das Grabmal Rahels bis auf diesen Tag.
And Jacob set up a pillar on her tomb; this is the pillar on the tomb of Rachel, until this day.
21 Und Israel brach auf und schlug sein Zelt auf jenseits von Migdal-Heder. [Herdenturm]
And it came to pass when Israel lived in that land, that Ruben went and lay with Balla, the concubine of his father Jacob; and Israel heard, and the thing appeared grievous before him.
22 Und es geschah, als Israel in jenem Lande wohnte, da ging Ruben hin und lag bei Bilha, dem Kebsweibe seines Vaters. Und Israel hörte es. Und der Söhne Jakobs waren zwölf.
And the sons of Jacob were twelve.
23 Die Söhne Leas: Ruben, der Erstgeborene Jakobs, und Simeon und Levi und Juda und Issaschar und Sebulon.
The sons of Lea, the firstborn of Jacob; Ruben, Symeon, Levi, Judas, Issachar, Zabulon.
24 Die Söhne Rahels: Joseph und Benjamin.
And the sons of Rachel; Joseph and Benjamin.
25 Die Söhne Bilhas, der Magd Rahels: Dan und Naphtali.
And the sons of Balla, the handmaid of Rachel; Dan and Nephthalim.
26 Und die Söhne Silpas, der Magd Leas: Gad und Aser. Das sind die Söhne Jakobs, welche ihm in Paddan-Aram geboren wurden.
And the sons of Zelpha, the handmaid of Lea; Gad and Aser. These [are] the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.
27 Und Jakob kam zu seinem Vater Isaak nach Mamre, nach Kirjath-Arba, das ist Hebron, woselbst Abraham und Isaak als Fremdlinge geweilt hatten.
And Jacob came to Isaac his father to Mambre, to a city of the plain; this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan, where Abraam and Isaac sojourned.
28 Und die Tage Isaaks waren 180 Jahre.
And the days of Isaac which he lived were an hundred and eighty years.
29 Und Isaak verschied und starb, und wurde versammelt zu seinen Völkern, alt und der Tage satt. Und Esau und Jakob, seine Söhne, begruben ihn.
And Isaac gave up the ghost and died, and was laid to his family, old and full of days; and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.
