1 Und Elisa, der Prophet, rief einen von den Söhnen der Propheten und sprach zu ihm: Gürte deine Lenden und nimm diese Ölflasche in deine Hand und gehe nach Ramoth-Gilead.
Now, Elisha the prophet, called one of the sons of the prophets, —and said to him—Gird up thy loins, and take this flask of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead;
2 Und wenn du dahin gekommen bist, so sieh dich daselbst nach Jehu um, dem Sohne Josaphats, des Sohnes Nimsis; und gehe hinein, und laß ihn aufstehen aus der Mitte seiner Brüder und führe ihn in ein inneres Gemach;
and, when thou art come in thither, then look thee out, there, Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi; and thou shalt enter and get him to rise up out of the midst of his brethren, and take him into an inner chamber;
3 und nimm die Ölflasche und gieße sie über sein Haupt aus und sprich: So spricht Jehova: Ich habe dich zum König über Israel gesalbt! und öffne die Tür und fliehe, und harre nicht.
then shalt thou take the flask of oil, and pour out upon his head, and say—Thus, saith Yahweh, I have anointed thee to be king unto Israel! Then shalt thou open the door and flee, and not tarry.
4 Und der Jüngling, der Knabe des Propheten, ging nach Ramoth-Gilead.
So the young man went his way—the young man the prophet—unto Ramoth-gilead.
5 Und er kam hinein, und siehe, da saßen die Obersten des Heeres. Und er sprach: Ich habe ein Wort an dich, Oberster. Und Jehu sprach: An wen von uns allen? Und er sprach: An dich, Oberster.
And, when he came up, lo! the captains of the force, sitting, and he said—A word, have I, for thee, O captain! And Jehu said—For which, of us all? And he said, —For thee, O captain!
6 Da stand Jehu [W. er] auf und ging ins Haus hinein; und er goß das Öl auf sein Haupt und sprach zu ihm: So spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Ich habe dich zum König gesalbt über das Volk Jehovas, über Israel.
Then rose he up and went inside, and poured out the oil upon his head, and said unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, I have anointed thee to be king unto the people of Yahweh, unto Israel;
7 Und du sollst das Haus Ahabs, deines Herrn, erschlagen; und ich werde das Blut meiner Knechte, der Propheten, und das Blut aller Knechte Jehovas rächen von der Hand Isebels.
and thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy lord, —so will I avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Yahweh, at the hand of Jezebel;
8 Ja, das ganze Haus Ahabs soll umkommen; und ich werde von Ahab ausrotten, was männlich ist, sowohl den Gebundenen als auch den Freien in Israel.
so shall perish all the house of Ahab, —and I will cut off to Ahab the meanest, both him that is shut up and him that is left at large, in Israel.
9 Und ich werde das Haus Ahabs machen wie das Haus Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, und wie das Haus Baesas, des Sohnes Achijas.
Yea I will deliver up the house of Ahab, like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat, —and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah:
10 Isebel aber sollen die Hunde fressen auf dem Ackerstück zu Jisreel, und niemand wird sie begraben. Und er öffnete die Tür und entfloh.
And, as for Jezebel, the dogs shall eat [her], in the town-land of Jezreel, there being none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.
11 Und Jehu kam heraus zu den Knechten seines Herrn. Und man sprach zu ihm: Steht es wohl? Warum ist dieser Rasende zu dir gekommen? Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr kennet ja den Mann und seine Rede.
Then, Jehu, came forth unto the servants of his lord, and one said to him—Is all well? why came this madman unto thee? And he said unto them, Ye, know, the man and his message.
12 Und sie sprachen: Lüge! tue es uns doch kund! Da sprach er: So und so hat er zu mir geredet und gesagt: So spricht Jehova: Ich habe dich zum König über Israel gesalbt!
And they said—False! pray tell, us. And he said, —Thus and thus, spake he unto me, saying, Thus, saith Yahweh, I have anointed thee to be king unto Israel.
13 Da eilten sie und nahmen ein jeder sein Kleid und legten es unter ihn, auf die Stufen selbst; und sie stießen in die Posaune und sprachen: Jehu ist König!
Then hasted they, and took, every man his garment, and put it under him, upon the very steps, —and blew with a horn, and said, Jehu, is king!
14 Und so machte Jehu, der Sohn Josaphats, des Sohnes Nimsis, eine Verschwörung gegen Joram. [Joram aber, er und ganz Israel, hatte Ramoth-Gilead gegen Hasael, den König von Syrien, verteidigt; [Eig. bewahrt, bewacht]
Thus did Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi conspire against Joram, —when, Joram, was watching Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.
15 und der König Joram war zurückgekehrt, um sich in Jisreel von den Wunden heilen zu lassen, welche ihm die Syrer geschlagen hatten, als er wider Hasael, den König von Syrien, stritt.] Und Jehu sprach: Wenn es euer Wille ist, so soll niemand aus der Stadt entrinnen, um hinzugehen, es in Jisreel zu berichten.
But Jehoram the king had returned to get himself healed in Jezreel, of the wounds wherewith the Syrians had wounded him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. Then said Jehu—If such is your mind, let no fugitive get forth out of the city, to go and tell it in Jezreel.
16 Und Jehu saß auf und zog nach Jisreel; denn Joram lag daselbst. Und Ahasja, der König von Juda, war hinabgezogen, um Joram zu besuchen.
So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went towards Jezreel, for, Joram, was lying there, —and, Ahaziah king of Judah, had come down to see Joram.
17 Und der Wächter stand auf dem Turme zu Jisreel und sah den Haufen Jehus, wie er herankam, und sprach: Ich sehe einen Haufen. Und Joram sprach: Nimm einen Reiter und sende ihn ihnen entgegen, daß er spreche: Ist es Friede?
Now, the watchman, was standing upon the tower, in Jezreel, so he saw the great company of Jehu, when he came, and said—A great company, can I see! Then said Jehoram—Take a horseman and send to meet them, that he may say—Is it peace?
18 Da ging der Berittene ihm entgegen und sprach: So spricht der König: Ist es Friede? Und Jehu sprach: Was hast du mit dem Frieden zu schaffen? Wende dich hinter mich! Und der Wächter berichtete und sprach: Der Bote ist bis zu ihnen gekommen und kehrt nicht zurück.
So the horseman went to meet him, and said—Thus, saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said—What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came up to them, but hath not turned back.
19 Da sandte er einen zweiten Berittenen; und er kam zu ihnen und sprach: So spricht der König: Ist es Friede? Und Jehu sprach: Was hast du mit dem Frieden zu schaffen? Wende dich hinter mich!
Then sent he a second horseman, and he came up to them and said, Thus, saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said—What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
20 Und der Wächter berichtete und sprach: Er ist bis zu ihnen gekommen und kehrt nicht zurück. Und das Treiben ist wie das Treiben Jehus, des Sohnes Nimsis; denn er treibt unsinnig.
And the watchman told, saying, He came up to them, but hath not turned back, —and, the driving, is like the driving of Jehu son of Nimshi; for, with mad haste, doth he drive.
21 Da sprach Joram: Spannet an! Und man spannte seinen Wagen an; und Joram, der König von Israel, und Ahasja, der König von Juda, zogen aus, ein jeder auf seinem Wagen: sie zogen aus, Jehu entgegen, und sie trafen ihn auf dem Grundstück Naboths, des Jisreeliters.
Then said Jehoram, Harness! So one harnessed his chariot, —and Jehoram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went forth, each man in his chariot, yea they went forth to meet Jehu, and came upon him in the heritage of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 Und es geschah, als Joram den Jehu sah, da sprach er: Ist es Friede, Jehu? Aber er sprach: Was, Friede, während der vielen Hurereien Isebels, deiner Mutter, und ihrer vielen Zaubereien!
And it came to pass, when Jehoram saw Jehu, that he said—Is it peace, Jehu? And he said—What can be the peace, while thy mother Jezebel’s harlotries and her incantations do so abound?
23 Da wandte Joram um [W. seine Hände] und floh, und sprach zu Ahasja: Verrat, Ahasja!
Then Jehoram turned his hands, and fled, —and said unto Ahaziah—Treachery! O Ahaziah!
24 Jehu aber nahm seinen Bogen zur Hand und traf Joram zwischen seine Arme, so daß der Pfeil ihm durch das Herz fuhr; und er sank nieder in seinem Wagen.
And, Jehu, bent his bow, and smote Jehoram, between his arms, —and the arrow came out at his heart, —and he sank down in his chariot.
25 Und er sprach zu Bidkar, seinem Anführer: Nimm ihn und wirf ihn auf das Grundstück Naboths, des Jisreeliters. Denn gedenke, wie wir, ich und du, nebeneinander hinter seinem Vater Ahab herritten, und Jehova diesen Ausspruch über ihn tat:
Then said he unto Bidkar his officer, Take [him] up, [and] cast him forth, into the field-portion of Naboth the Jezreelite, —for remember, when I and thou were riding as a couple together after Ahab his father, that, Yahweh, laid upon him this doom:
26 Wenn ich nicht das Blut Naboths und das Blut seiner Söhne gestern gesehen habe! spricht Jehova; [Eig. ist der Spruch Jehovas] und ich werde es dir vergelten auf diesem Grundstück, spricht Jehova. [Eig. ist der Spruch Jehovas] Und nun nimm ihn auf, wirf ihn auf das Grundstück, nach dem Worte Jehovas.
Surely, the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, have I lately seen, declareth Yahweh, therefore will I requite thee in this portion, declareth Yahweh. Now, therefore, take [him] up, [and] cast him forth into the portion, according to the word of Yahweh.
27 Als Ahasja, der König von Juda, das sah, floh er des Weges zum Gartenhause. [O. nach Beth-Hagan] Und Jehu jagte ihm nach und sprach: Auch ihn erschlaget auf dem Wagen! Und sie verwundeten ihn auf der Anhöhe Gur, die bei Jibleam ist. Und er floh nach Megiddo und starb daselbst.
And, Ahaziah king of Judah, saw it, and fled by the way of the garden house, —and Jehu pursued him, and said—Him also! smite him in the chariot! It was in the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Mepidgo, and died there.
28 Und seine Knechte führten ihn zu Wagen nach Jerusalem, und sie begruben ihn in seinem Begräbnis, bei seinen Vätern, in der Stadt Davids. -
And his servants conveyed him in a chariot and brought him into Jerusalem, —and buried him in his sepulchre, with his fathers, in the city of David.
29 Und im elften Jahre Jorams, des Sohnes Ahabs, war Ahasja König geworden über Juda.
Now it was, in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab, that Ahaziah began to reign over Judah.
30 Und Jehu kam nach Jisreel. Und als Isebel es hörte, da tat sie Schminke an ihre Augen und schmückte ihr Haupt und schaute zum Fenster hinaus.
Now, when Jehu entered Jezreel and, Jezebel, heard of it, she set her eyes in stibium, and ornamented her head, and looked forth through the lattice.
31 Und als Jehu in das Tor kam, da sprach sie: Erging es Simri wohl, dem Mörder seines Herrn? [And. üb.: Ist es Friede, Simri, Mörder seines Herrn? [Vergl. 1. Kön. 16,10. 18]]
So, when, Jehu, had entered in at the gate, she said, Was it peace, when Zimri slew his lord?
32 Und er erhob sein Angesicht zum Fenster und sprach: Wer ist mit mir, wer? Da blickten zwei, drei Kämmerer zu ihm hinab.
And he lifted up his face unto the lattice, and said—Who, is with me? Who? And there looked out unto him, two or three eunuchs.
33 Und er sprach: Stürzet sie herab! Und sie stürzten sie hinab; und es spritzte von ihrem Blute an die Wand und an die Rosse, und er zertrat sie.
And he said—Hurl her down. And they hurled her down, —and there was sprinkled of her blood—upon the wall, and upon the horses, and they trode upon her.
34 Und er ging hinein und aß und trank; und er sprach: Sehet doch nach dieser Verfluchten und begrabet sie, denn sie ist eine Königstochter.
And, when he had entered and eaten and drunk, he said—Look, I pray you, after this accursed woman, and bury her, for the daughter of a king, she is.
35 Und sie gingen hin, um sie zu begraben; aber sie fanden nichts mehr von ihr, als nur den Schädel und die Füße und die Hände.
So they went to bury her, —but found not of her—save the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands.
36 Und sie kamen zurück und berichteten es ihm. Und er sprach: Das ist das Wort Jehovas, das er durch seinen Knecht Elia, den Tisbiter, geredet hat, indem er sprach: Auf dem Grundstück zu Jisreel sollen die Hunde das Fleisch Isebels fressen;
Then came they back, and told him, and he said—The word of Yahweh, it is, which he spake by the hand of his servant, Elijah the Tishbite, saying—In the town-land of Jezreel, shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel!
37 und der Leichnam Isebels soll auf dem Grundstück zu Jisreel dem Miste auf dem Felde gleichen, daß man nicht wird sagen können: Das ist Isebel.
So shall the carcass of Jezebel become like heaps of dung on the face of the field, in the town-land of Jezreel: So that they cannot say, This, is Jezebel!
