2 Koenige 13

1 Im 23. Jahre Joas, des Sohnes Ahasjas, des Königs von Juda, wurde Joahas, der Sohn Jehus, König über Israel zu Samaria und regierte siebzehn Jahre.

In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, began Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, to reign over Israel, in Samaria, [and he reigned] seventeen years.

2 Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen Jehovas; und er wandelte den Sünden Jerobeams nach, des Sohnes Nebats, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte: er wich nicht davon.

And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and went after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat which he caused, Israel, to commit, he departed not therefrom.

3 Da entbrannte der Zorn Jehovas wider Israel; und er gab sie in die Hand Hasaels, des Königs von Syrien, und in die Hand Ben-Hadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, alle Tage hindurch.

Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Israel—and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad son of Hazael, continually.

4 Und Joahas flehte Jehova an; und Jehova hörte auf ihn, er sah den Druck Israels, denn [O. daß] der König von Syrien drückte sie.

And Jehoahaz appeased the face of Yahweh, —and Yahweh hearkened unto him, because he had seen the oppression of Israel, for that, the king of Syria, oppressed them.

5 [Und Jehova gab Israel einen Retter, und sie kamen aus [W. von unter] der Hand der Syrer heraus; und die Kinder Israel wohnten in ihren Zelten wie zuvor.

So Yahweh gave unto Israel a saviour, and they went forth from under the hand of Syria, —and the sons of Israel dwelt in their own homes, as aforetime.

6 Dennoch wichen sie nicht von den Sünden des Hauses Jerobeams, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte: sie wandelten darin; auch die Aschera [S. 1. Kön. 16,33] blieb in Samaria stehen.]

Howbeit they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam which he caused, Israel, to commit, therein, they walked, —moreover also, the Sacred Stem, still stood in Samaria.

7 Denn er hatte dem Joahas kein Volk übriggelassen, als nur fünfzig Reiter und zehn Wagen und zehntausend Mann zu Fuß; denn der König von Syrien hatte sie vernichtet und sie gemacht wie den Staub, den man zertritt.

For he had not left remaining unto Jehoahaz a people, save only fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, —for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like dust in threshing.

8 Und das Übrige der Geschichte Joahas und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Macht, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Israel?

Now, the rest of the story of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

9 Und Joahas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria. Und Joas, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

So then Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, —and, Joash his son, reigned, in his stead.

10 Im 37 Jahre Joas, des Königs von Juda, wurde Joas, der Sohn des Joahas, König über Israel zu Samaria und regierte sechzehn Jahre.

In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, began Jehoash son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel, in Samaria, [and he reigned] sixteen years.

11 Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen Jehovas; er wich nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte: er wandelte darin.

And he did that which was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —he turned not away from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he caused, Israel, to commit, therein, he walked.

12 Und das Übrige der Geschichte Joas und alles, was er getan, und seine Macht, wie er mit Amazja, dem König von Juda, gestritten hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Israel?

Now, the rest of the story of Joash, and all that he did, and his might, wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

13 Und Joas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und Jerobeam setzte sich auf seinen Thron; und Joas wurde zu Samaria begraben bei den Königen von Israel.

So then Joash slept with his fathers, and, Jeroboam, took his seat on his throne, —and Joash was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.

14 Und Elisa erkrankte an seiner Krankheit, an welcher er starb. Und Joas, der König von Israel, kam zu ihm herab und weinte über seinem Angesicht und sprach: Mein Vater, mein Vater! Wagen Israels und seine Reiter!

Now, Elisha, had fallen sick of his sickness whereof he was about to die, —so then Joash king of Israel came down unto him, and wept upon his face, and said, My father! my father! The chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof!

15 Da sprach Elisa zu ihm: Hole Bogen und Pfeile. Und er holte ihm Bogen und Pfeile.

And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. So he took unto him bow and arrows.

16 Und er sprach zu dem König von Israel: Lege deine Hand auf den Bogen. [d. h. Spanne den Bogen] Da legte er seine Hand darauf: und Elisa tat seine Hände auf die Hände des Königs.

Then said he unto the king of Israel, Let thy hand rest upon the bow. So he let his hand rest thereon. Then Elisha put his own hands upon the hands of the king;

17 Und er sprach: Öffne das Fenster gegen Morgen. Und er öffnete es. Und Elisa sprach: Schieße! Und er schoß. Und er sprach: Ein Pfeil der Rettung von Jehova und ein Pfeil der Rettung wider die Syrer! und so wirst du die Syrer zu Aphek schlagen bis zur Vernichtung.

and said—Open the lattice eastward. And he opened it. Then said Elisha—Shoot! And he shot. Then he said, —The arrow of victory by Yahweh, yea the arrow of victory over Syria, therefore shalt thou smite Syria in Aphek, till it be consumed.

18 Und er sprach: Nimm die Pfeile. Und er nahm sie. Und er sprach zu dem König von Israel: Schlage auf die Erde! Und er schlug dreimal und hielt inne.

And he said—Take the arrows. So he took them. Then said he unto the king of Israel—Smite unto the ground. So he smote three times, and then stayed.

19 Da ward der Mann Gottes zornig über ihn und sprach: Du hättest fünf- oder sechsmal schlagen sollen, dann würdest du die Syrer bis zur Vernichtung geschlagen haben; nun aber wirst du die Syrer dreimal schlagen.

Then was the man of God wroth against him, and said—Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times, then, hadst thou smitten Syria, until it had been consumed; But, now, three times, shalt thou smite Syria.

20 Und Elisa starb, und man begrub ihn. Und es kamen Streifscharen der Moabiter in das Land, als [And. üb.: so oft] das Jahr anfing.

And Elisha died, and they buried him, —now, troops of Moabites, used to enter the land, at the coming in of the year;

21 Und es geschah, als sie einen Mann begruben, siehe, da sahen sie die Streifschar, und sie warfen den Mann in das Grab Elisas; und als der Mann hineinkam und die Gebeine Elisas berührte, da wurde er lebendig und erhob sich auf seine Füße.

and it came to pass, as, they, were burying a man, that, lo! they saw a troop, so they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha, —and, as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he came to life again, and rose up on his feet.

22 Und Hasael, der König von Syrien, bedrückte Israel alle Tage des Joahas.

And, Hazael king of Syria, had oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

23 Aber Jehova wurde ihnen gnädig und erbarmte sich ihrer und wandte sich ihnen zu, wegen seines Bundes mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob; und er wollte sie nicht verderben und warf sie nicht von seinem Angesicht weg bis dahin.

Then was Yahweh gracious unto them, and had compassion upon them, and turned unto them, for the sake of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, —and was not willing to destroy them, nor to cast them off from his presence, as yet.

24 Und Hasael, der König von Syrien, starb. Und Ben-Hadad, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

So then Hazael king of Syria died; and, Ben-hadad his son, reigned, in his stead.

25 Da nahm Joas, der Sohn des Joahas, aus der Hand Ben-Hadads, des Sohnes Hasaels, die Städte wieder, welche dieser aus der Hand seines Vaters Joahas im Streit genommen hatte. Dreimal schlug ihn Joas und brachte die Städte Israels wieder zurück.

And Jehoash son of Jehoahaz again took the cities out of the hand of Ben-hadad son of Hazael, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father, in war, —three times, did Joash smite him, and recover the cities of Israel.
