1 Und Ahab hatte siebzig Söhne zu Samaria. Und Jehu schrieb Briefe und sandte sie nach Samaria an die Obersten von Jisreel, die Ältesten, und an die Erzieher der Söhne Ahabs, und sie lauteten:
And Achab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria, unto the rulers of Yizre'el, the elders, and to those that brought up Achab's children, saying,
2 Und nun, wenn dieser Brief zu euch kommt, -bei euch sind ja die Söhne eures Herrn, und bei euch die Wagen und die Rosse, und eine feste Stadt und Waffen-
And now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing that there are with you your master's sons, and there are with you the chariots and the horses, and the fortified city, and the armor:
3 so ersehet den besten und tüchtigsten aus den Söhnen eures Herrn, und setzet ihn auf den Thron seines Vaters; und streitet für das Haus eures Herrn.
Select then the best and the most fitting of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.
4 Aber sie fürchteten sich gar sehr und sprachen: Siehe, die zwei Könige konnten vor ihm nicht standhalten, und wie wollten wir bestehen?
But they were exceedingly much afraid, and said, Behold, the two kings could not stand before him: how then shall we be able to stand?
5 Und der über das Haus und der über die Stadt war und die Ältesten und die Erzieher sandten hin zu Jehu und ließen ihm sagen: Wir sind deine Knechte, und alles, was du zu uns sagen wirst, wollen wir tun; wir wollen niemand zum König machen; tue, was gut ist in deinen Augen.
And the superintendent over the house, and the commander over the city, and the elders, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and all that thou mayest say unto us will we do; we will not set up any one as king: do what is good in thy eyes.
6 Da schrieb er zum zweiten Male einen Brief an sie, welcher lautete: Wenn ihr für mich seid und auf meine Stimme höret, so nehmet die Köpfe der Männer, der Söhne eures Herrn, und kommet morgen um diese Zeit zu mir nach Jisreel. [Und die Königssöhne, siebzig Mann, waren bei den Großen der Stadt, die sie auferzogen.]
Then wrote he to them a letter the second time, saying, If ye be for me, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, then take the heads of the men, your master's sons, and come to me to Yizre'el by this time tomorrow. Now the king's sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.
7 Und es geschah, als der Brief zu ihnen kam, da nahmen sie die Söhne des Königs und schlachteten sie, siebzig Mann, und legten ihre Köpfe in Körbe und sandten sie zu ihm nach Jisreel.
And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons and slaughtered them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him to Yizre'el.
8 Und ein Bote kam und berichtete ihm und sprach: Man hat die Köpfe der Königssöhne gebracht. Und er sprach: Leget sie in zwei Haufen an den Eingang des Tores, bis zum Morgen.
And the messenger came, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Place ye them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.
9 Und es geschah am Morgen, da ging er hinaus und trat hin und sprach zu dem ganzen Volke: Ihr seid gerecht! Siehe, ich habe eine Verschwörung wider meinen Herrn gemacht und habe ihn ermordet; wer aber hat alle diese erschlagen?
And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye are righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him; but who hath killed all these?
10 Wisset denn, daß nichts zur Erde fallen wird von dem Worte Jehovas, das Jehova wider das Haus Ahabs geredet hat; und Jehova hat getan, was er durch seinen Knecht Elia geredet hat.
Know now that there shall not fall of the word of the Lord unto the earth, the least that the Lord hath spoken concerning the house of Achab; and the Lord hath done that which he spoke by means of his servant Elijah.
11 Und Jehu erschlug alle, welche vom Hause Ahabs in Jisreel übriggeblieben waren, und alle seine Großen und seine Bekannten und seine Priester, bis er ihm keinen Entronnenen übrigließ.
And Jehu smote all that yet remained of the house of Achab in Yizre'el, and all his great men, and his acquaintance, and his priests, until he had left him none that escaped.
12 Und er machte sich auf und ging und zog nach Samaria. Er war bei Beth-Eked-Haroim [Versammlungshaus der Hirten] auf dem Wege,
And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria; he was just at the binding-house of the shepherds, on the way:
13 da traf Jehu die Brüder Ahasjas, des Königs von Juda; und er sprach: Wer seid ihr? Und sie sprachen: Wir sind die Brüder Ahasjas und sind herabgekommen, um die Söhne des Königs und die Söhne der Königin zu begrüßen.
When Jehu met with the brothers of Achazyahu the king of Judah, and he said, Who are ye? And they said, The brothers of Achazyahu are we; and we are come down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.
14 Und er sprach: Greifet sie lebendig! Und sie griffen sie lebendig und schlachteten sie bei der Cisterne von Beth-Eked, 42 Mann, und er ließ keinen von ihnen übrig.
And he said, Seize them alive. And they seized them alive, and slaughtered them at the pit of the binding-house, two and forty men; and he left not one of them remaining.
15 Und er zog von dannen und traf Jonadab, den Sohn Rekabs, der ihm entgegenkam; und er grüßte ihn und sprach zu ihm: Ist dein Herz redlich, wie mein Herz gegen dein Herz? Und Jonadab sprach: Es ists. Wenn es so ist, so gib mir deine Hand. -Und er gab ihm seine Hand. Da ließ er ihn zu sich auf den Wagen steigen
And he went away thence, and met Yehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is all right in thy heart, as my heart is with thy heart? And Yehonadab answered, It is; it is: give me thy hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.
16 und sprach: Komm mit mir und sieh meinen Eifer für Jehova an! Und sie fuhren ihn auf seinem Wagen.
And he said, Come with me, and behold my zeal for the Lord. So they made him ride in his chariot.
17 Und als er nach Samaria kam, erschlug er alle, welche von Ahab in Samaria übriggeblieben waren, bis er ihn vertilgte, nach dem Worte Jehovas, das er zu Elia geredet hatte.
And when he came to Samaria, he smote all that yet remained unto Achab in Samaria, till he had exterminated him, according to the word of the Lord which he had spoken to Elijah.
18 Und Jehu versammelte das ganze Volk und sprach zu ihnen: Ahab hat dem Baal ein wenig gedient, Jehu will ihm viel dienen.
And Jehu assembled all the people, and said unto them, Achab hath served Ba'al a little: Jehu will serve him much.
19 Und nun, rufet alle Propheten des Baal, alle seine Diener und alle seine Priester zu mir; kein Mann werde vermißt! denn ich habe ein großes Schlachtopfer für den Baal. Keiner, der vermißt wird, soll am Leben bleiben! Jehu handelte aber mit Hinterlist, um die Diener des Baal umzubringen.
And now call unto me all the prophets of Ba'al, all his worshippers, and all his priests: let no one be missing; for I have a great sacrifice to make for Ba'al; whosoever will be missing, shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, in order to destroy the worshippers of Ba'al.
20 Und Jehu sprach: Heiliget dem Baal eine Festversammlung! Und man rief sie aus.
And Jehu said, Sanctify a solemn assembly for Ba'al. And they proclaimed it.
21 Und Jehu sandte in ganz Israel umher. Da kamen alle Diener des Baal: keiner blieb übrig, der nicht gekommen wäre; und sie gingen in das Haus des Baal, und das Haus des Baal ward voll von einem Ende bis zum anderen.
And Jehu sent throughout all Israel: and there came all the worshippers of Ba'al, so that there was not a man remaining that came not; and they came into the house of Ba'al; and the house of Ba'al was full from one end to another.
22 Und er sprach zu dem, der über die Kleiderkammer war: Bringe Kleider heraus für alle Diener des Baal! Und er brachte ihnen Kleidung heraus.
And he said unto him that was over the wardrobe, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Ba'al. And he brought forth for them the vestments.
23 Und Jehu und Jonadab, der Sohn Rekabs, gingen in das Haus des Baal; und er sprach zu den Dienern des Baal: Forschet und sehet zu, daß nicht etwa einer von den Dienern Jehovas hier bei euch sei, sondern nur Diener des Baal allein!
And Jehu went, with Yehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Ba'al, and he said unto the worshippers of Ba'al, Search, and look that there be not here with you any of the servants of the Lord, but the worshippers of Ba'al entirely alone.
24 Und sie gingen hinein, um Schlachtopfer und Brandopfer zu opfern. Jehu hatte sich aber draußen achtzig Mann bestellt und gesagt: Derjenige, welcher einen von den Männern entrinnen läßt, die ich in eure Hände gebracht habe, sein Leben soll statt dessen Leben sein.
And they went in to prepare sacrifices and burnt-offerings; but Jehu had set for himself without eighty men, and said, [If there be] a man that escapeth from the men whom I deliver into your hands, [there shall be given] life for his life.
25 Und es geschah, als man das Opfern des Brandopfers vollendet hatte, da sprach Jehu zu den Läufern und zu den Anführern: Gehet hinein, erschlaget sie; keiner komme heraus! Und sie schlugen sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes. Und die Läufer und die Anführer warfen sie hin. Und sie gingen nach dem Stadtteil [O. in die Burg] des Baalhauses,
And it came to pass, as soon as they had made an end of preparing the burnt-offering, that Jehu said to the runners and to the officers, Go in, smite them: let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the runners and the captains cast them out, and went as far as the city of the house of Ba'al.
26 und brachten die Bildsäulen des Baalhauses heraus und verbrannten sie; und sie rissen die Bildsäule des Baal nieder;
And they brought forth the statues out of the house of Ba'al, and burnt every one of them.
27 und sie rissen das Haus des Baal nieder und machten Kotstätten daraus bis auf diesen Tag.
And they broke down the statue of Ba'al, and broke down the house of Ba'al, and made it a common sewer unto this day.
28 Also vertilgte Jehu den Baal aus Israel.
Thus Jehu exterminated Ba'al out of Israel.
29 Nur von den Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte, von denen wich Jehu nicht ab: von den goldenen Kälbern, die zu Bethel und zu Dan waren.
Nevertheless the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who induced Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from in following them, [namely, ] the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.
30 Und Jehova sprach zu Jehu: Weil du wohl ausgerichtet hast, was recht ist in meinen Augen, und an dem Hause Ahabs getan hast nach allem, was in meinem Herzen war, so sollen dir Söhne des vierten Gliedes auf dem Throne Israels sitzen.
And the Lord said unto Jehu, Forasmuch as thou hast acted well in doing what is right in my eyes, and hast done in accordance with all that was in my heart unto the house of Achab: children of the fourth generation after thee shall sit upon the throne of Israel.
31 Aber Jehu achtete nicht darauf, in dem Gesetze Jehovas, des Gottes Israels, mit seinem ganzen Herzen zu wandeln; er wich nicht von den Sünden Jerobeams, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte.
But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord the God of Israel with all his heart: he departed not from the sins of Jerobo'am, who induced Israel to sin.
32 In jenen Tagen begann Jehova abzuhauen unter Israel; und Hasael schlug sie im ganzen Gebiet Israels,
In those days the Lord began to cut Israel short; and Chazael smote them in all the boundary of Israel;
33 vom Jordan an, gegen Sonnenaufgang, das ganze Land Gilead, die Gaditer und die Rubeniter und die Manassiter, von Aroer an, das am Flusse Arnon liegt, sowohl Gilead als Basan.
From the Jordan to the rising of the sun, all the land of Gil'ad, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Menassites, from 'Aro'er which is by the river Arnon, both Gil'ad and Bashan.
34 Und das Übrige der Geschichte Jehus und alles, was er getan hat, und alle seine Macht, [O. Tapferkeit, Machttaten; so auch Kap. 13,8. 12;14,15;20,20 usw.] ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Israel?
Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his mighty deeds, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
35 Und Jehu legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn zu Samaria. Und Joahas, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
And Jehu slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoachaz his son became king in his stead.
36 Die Tage aber, die Jehu über Israel zu Samaria regierte, waren 28 Jahre.
And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
