2 Chronik 2
1 Und [1. Kön. 5] Salomo gedachte, dem Namen Jehovas ein Haus zu bauen und ein Haus für sein Königtum.
And Solomon determined to build a house to the name of the Lord, and a palace for himself.
2 Und Salomo zählte 70000 Lastträger ab, und 80000 Steinhauer im Gebirge, und 3600 Aufseher über dieselben.
And he numbered out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.
3 Und Salomo sandte zu Huram, dem König von Tyrus, und ließ ihm sagen: So wie du meinem Vater David getan und ihm Cedern gesandt hast, daß er sich ein Haus baue, um darin zu wohnen, so tue auch mir.
He sent also to Hiram king of Tyre, saying: As thou didst with David my father, and didst send him cedars, to build him a house, in which he dwelt:
4 Siehe, ich will dem Namen Jehovas, meines Gottes, ein Haus bauen, um es ihm zu heiligen, wohlriechendes Räucherwerk vor ihm zu räuchern, und um das beständige Schichtbrot zuzurichten und Brandopfer morgens und abends zu opfern, an den Sabbathen und an den Neumonden und an den Festen [S. die Anm. zu 3. Mose 23,2; so auch Kap. 30,22;31,3] Jehovas, unseres Gottes; ewiglich liegt dies Israel ob.
So do with me that I may build a house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to burn incense before him, and to perfume with aromatical spices, and for the continual setting forth of bread, and for the holocausts, morning and evening, and on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and the solemnities of the Lord our God for ever, which are commanded for Israel.
5 Und das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß sein; denn unser Gott ist größer als alle Götter.
For the house which I desire to build, is great: for our God is great above all gods.
6 Aber wer vermöchte ihm ein Haus zu bauen? denn die Himmel und der Himmel Himmel können ihn nicht fassen. Und wer bin ich, daß ich ihm ein Haus bauen sollte, es sei denn, um vor ihm zu räuchern?
Who then can be able to build him a worthy house? if heaven, and the heavens of heavens cannot contain him: who am I that I should be able to build him a house? but to this end only, that incense may be burnt before him.
7 Und nun sende mir einen Mann, der zu arbeiten versteht in Gold und in Silber, und in Erz und in Eisen, und in rotem Purpur und Karmesin und blauem Purpur, und kundig ist, Schnitzarbeit zu machen, nebst den Kunstverständigen, die bei mir in Juda und in Jerusalem sind, die mein Vater David bestellt hat.
Send me therefore a skillful man, that knoweth how to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, and in iron, in purple, in scarlet and in blue, and that hath skill in engraving, with the artificers, which I have with me in Judea and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.
8 Und sende mir Cedern-, Cypressen- und Sandelholz vom Libanon; denn ich weiß, daß deine Knechte das Holz des Libanon zu hauen verstehen; und siehe, meine Knechte sollen mit deinen Knechten sein.
Send me also cedars, and fir trees, and pine trees from Libanus: for I know that thy servants are skillful in cutting timber in Libanus, and my servants shall be with thy servants,
9 Und man möge mir Holz bereiten in Menge; denn das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß und außerordentlich sein.
To provide me timber in abundance. For the house which I desire to build, is to be exceeding great, and glorious.
10 Und siehe, ich werde deinen Knechten, den Holzhauern, die das Holz fällen, ausgeschlagenen Weizen [Wahrsch. ist nach 1. Kön. 5,11 zu lesen: Weizen zur Nahrung] geben, 20000 Kor, [ein Kor= 10 Epha, ungefähr zweieinhalb Hektoliter] und 20000 Kor Gerste, und 20000 Bath Wein, und 20000 Bath Öl.
And I will give thy servants the workmen that are to cut down the trees, for their food twenty thousand cores of wheat, and as many cores of barley, and twenty thousand measures of wine, and twenty thousand measures of oil.
11 Und Huram, der König von Tyrus, antwortete schriftlich und sandte an Salomo folgende Botschaft: Weil Jehova sein Volk liebt, hat er dich zum König über sie gesetzt.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent a letter to Solomon, saying: Because the Lord hath loved his people, therefore he hath made thee king over them.
12 Und Huram sprach: Gepriesen sei Jehova, der Gott Israels, der Himmel und Erde gemacht hat, daß er dem König David einen weisen Sohn gegeben, voll Einsicht und Verstand, der Jehova ein Haus bauen will und ein Haus für sein Königtum!
And he added, saying: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who hath given to king David a wise and knowing son, endued with understanding and prudence, to build a house to the Lord, and a palace for himself.
13 Und nun sende ich einen kunstverständigen, einsichtsvollen Mann, Huram-Abi, [S. 1. Kön. 7,13]
I therefore have sent thee my father Hiram, a wise and most skillful man,
14 den Sohn eines Weibes von den Töchtern Dans, [Vergl. die Anm. zu 1. Kön. 7,14] und dessen Vater ein Tyrer war, der zu arbeiten weiß in Gold und Silber, in Erz, in Eisen, in Steinen und in Holz, in rotem Purpur, in blauem Purpur und in Byssus und in Karmesin, und allerlei Schnitzarbeit zu machen, und allerlei Kunstwerk zu ersinnen, das ihm aufgegeben wird, nebst deinen Kunstverständigen und den Kunstverständigen meines Herrn David, deines Vaters.
The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, whose father was a Tyrian, who knoweth how to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, and in iron, and in marble, and in timber, in purple also, and violet, and silk and scarlet: and who knoweth to grave all sort of graving, and to devise ingeniously all that there may be need of in the work with thy artificers, and with the artificers of my lord David thy father.
15 Und nun, den Weizen und die Gerste, das Öl und den Wein, wovon mein Herr gesprochen hat, möge er seinen Knechten senden.
The wheat therefore, and the barley and the oil, and the wine, which thou, my lord, hast promised, send to thy servants.
16 Wir aber werden Holz hauen vom Libanon nach all deinem Bedarf, und werden es dir als Flöße auf dem Meere nach Japho [O. nach dem Meere von Japho [Joppe], wie Esra 3,7] bringen; und du magst es nach Jerusalem hinaufschaffen.
And we will cut down as many trees out of Libanus, as thou shalt want, and will convey them in floats by sea to Joppe: and it will be thy part to bring them thence to Jerusalem.
17 Und Salomo zählte alle Fremdlinge, die im Lande Israel waren, nach der Zählung, welche sein Vater David von ihnen gemacht hatte; und es fanden sich 153600.
And Solomon numbered all the proselytes in the land of Israel, after the numbering which David his father had made, and they were found a hundred and fifty-three thousand and six hundred.
18 Und er machte aus ihnen 70000 zu Lastträgern, und 80000 zu Steinhauern im Gebirge, und 3600 zu Aufsehern, um das Volk zur Arbeit anzuhalten.
And he set seventy thousand of them to carry burdens on their shoulders, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains: and three thousand and six hundred to be overseers of the work of the people.
