2 Chronik 18

1 So [1. Kön. 22] hatte Josaphat Reichtum und Ehre in Fülle. Und er verschwägerte sich mit Ahab.

And Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance, and he intermarried with Achab.

2 Und nach Verlauf von einigen Jahren zog er zu Ahab nach Samaria hinab; und Ahab schlachtete für ihn und für das Volk, das bei ihm war, Klein- und Rindvieh in Menge; und er verleitete ihn, wider Ramoth-Gilead hinaufzuziehen.

And he went down after [some] years to Achab to Samaria. And Achab killed for him sheep and oxen in abundance, and for the people that were with him, and persuaded him to go up to Ramoth-gil'ad.

3 Und Ahab, der König von Israel, sprach zu Josaphat, dem König von Juda: Willst du mit mir nach Ramoth-Gilead ziehen? Und er sprach zu ihm: Ich will sein wie du, und mein Volk wie dein Volk, und will mit dir in den Streit ziehen.

Then said Achab the king of Israel unto Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me against Ramoth-gil'ad! And he said to him, I [will be] like thee, and my people [shall be] as thy people; and we will be with thee in the battle.

4 Und Josaphat sprach zu dem König von Israel: Befrage doch heute [O. vorerst] das Wort Jehovas.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, today [first] of the word of the Lord.

5 Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, vierhundert Mann, und er sprach zu ihnen: Sollen wir wider Ramoth-Gilead in den Streit ziehen, oder soll ich davon abstehen? Und sie sprachen: Ziehe hinauf, und Gott wird es in die Hand des Königs geben.

Then did the king of Israel assemble the prophets, four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gil'ad to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, and God will deliver [it] into the hand of the king.

6 Aber Josaphat sprach: Ist hier kein Prophet Jehovas mehr, daß wir durch ihn fragen?

And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Eternal besides, that we might inquire of him?

7 Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Es ist noch ein Mann da, um durch ihn Jehova zu befragen; aber ich hasse ihn, denn er weissagt nichts Gutes über mich, sondern immer nur Böses; [Eig. zum Guten zum Bösen] es ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas. Und Josaphat sprach: Der König spreche nicht also!

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him; for he never prophesieth any good concerning me, but at all times evil: it is Michayhu the son of Yimla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

8 Da rief der König von Israel einen Kämmerer und sprach: Bringe Micha, den Sohn Jimlas, eilends her.

Then called the king of Israel a certain court-officer, and said, “Hasten hither Michayhu the son of Yimla.”

9 Und der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, saßen ein jeder auf seinem Throne, angetan mit königlichen Kleidern, und sie saßen auf einem freien Platze am Eingang des Tores von Samaria; und alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, dressed in their royal garments, and they were sitting in a threshing-floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria: and all the prophets prophesied before them.

10 Und Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, machte sich eiserne Hörner und sprach: So spricht Jehova: Mit diesen wirst du die Syrer stoßen, bis du sie vernichtet hast.

And Zedekiah the son of Kena'anah had made himself horns of iron; and he said, Thus hath said the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Syrians until thou have made an end of them.

11 Und alle Propheten weissagten ebenso und sprachen: Ziehe hinauf nach Ramoth-Gilead, und es wird dir gelingen; denn Jehova wird es in die Hand des Königs geben.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up against Ramoth-gil'ad, and prosper, and the Lord will deliver it into the king's hand.

12 Und der Bote, der hingegangen war, Micha zu rufen, redete zu ihm und sprach: Siehe, die Worte der Propheten verkündigen einstimmig dem König Gutes; so laß doch dein Wort sein wie das Wort eines von ihnen, und rede Gutes.

And the messenger that went to call Michayhu spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets are with one voice good for the king: so do let thy word, I pray thee, be like [that of] any one of them, and speak something good.

13 Aber Micha sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt, was mein Gott mir sagen wird, das werde ich reden!

And Michayhu said, As the Lord liveth, truly what my God may say, that will I speak.

14 Und als er zu dem König kam, sprach der König zu ihm: Micha, sollen wir nach Ramoth-Gilead in den Streit ziehen, oder soll ich davon abstehen? Und er sprach: Ziehet hinauf, und es wird euch gelingen; denn sie werden in eure Hand gegeben werden.

And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Michah, shall we go to Ramoth-gil'ad to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and may they be delivered into your hand.

15 Und der König sprach zu ihm: Wieviele Male muß ich dich beschwören, daß du nichts zu mir reden sollst, als nur Wahrheit im Namen Jehovas?

And the king said to him, How many times yet must I adjure thee that thou shalt not speak to me any thing but the truth in the name of the Lord?

16 Da sprach er: Ich sah ganz Israel auf den Bergen zerstreut wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und Jehova sprach: Diese haben keinen Herrn; sie sollen ein jeder nach seinem Hause zurückkehren in Frieden.

Then said he, I saw all Israel scattered over the mountains, as flocks that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.

17 Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Habe ich dir nicht gesagt: er weissagt nichts Gutes über mich, sondern nur Böses?

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not say unto thee that he would not prophesy concerning me any good, but [only] for evil?

18 Und er sprach: Darum höret das Wort Jehovas: Ich sah Jehova auf seinem Throne sitzen, und alles Heer des Himmels zu seiner Rechten und zu seiner Linken stehen.

And he said, Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right and his left.

19 Und Jehova sprach: Wer will Ahab, den König von Israel, bereden, daß er hinaufziehe und zu Ramoth-Gilead falle? Und der eine sprach so, und der andere sprach so.

And the Lord said, Who will persuade Achab the king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gil'ad? And one said—one saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

20 Da trat ein [Eig. der] Geist hervor und stellte sich vor Jehova und sprach: Ich will ihn bereden. Und Jehova sprach zu ihm: Wodurch?

Then came there forth a spirit, and placed himself before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him. And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith?

21 Und er sprach: Ich will ausgehen und will ein Lügengeist sein in dem Munde aller seiner Propheten. Und er sprach: Du wirst [O. sollst] ihn bereden und wirst es auch ausrichten; gehe aus und tue also!

And he said, I will go forth, and I will become a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou wilt persuade him, and also prevail: go forth, and do so.

22 Und nun, siehe, Jehova hat einen Lügengeist in den Mund dieser deiner Propheten gelegt, und Jehova hat Böses über dich geredet.

And now, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets: but the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

23 Da trat Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, herzu und schlug Micha auf den Backen und sprach: Auf welchem Wege wäre der Geist Jehovas von mir gewichen, um mit dir zu reden?

And Zedekiah the son of Kena'anah went near, and struck Michayhu on the cheek, and said, Which is the way the Spirit of the Lord passed away from me to speak with thee?

24 Und Micha sprach: Siehe, du wirst es sehen an jenem Tage, wenn du ins innerste Gemach [O. von Gemach zu Gemach] gehen wirst, um dich zu verstecken.

And Michayhu said, Behold, thou shalt see it on that day when thou shalt go into the innermost chamber to hide thyself.

25 Und der König von Israel sprach: Nehmet Micha und führet ihn zurück zu Amon, dem Obersten der Stadt, und zu Joas, dem Sohne des Königs,

And the king of Israel said, Take ye Michayhu, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

26 und saget: So spricht der König: Setzet diesen ins Gefängnis und speiset ihn mit Brot der Trübsal und mit Wasser der Trübsal, bis ich in Frieden wiederkomme.

And say ye, Thus hath said the king, Put this man in the prison, and feed him with sparing bread and with sparing water, until I return in peace.

27 Und Micha sprach: Wenn du je in Frieden zurückkehrst, so hat Jehova nicht durch mich geredet! Und er sprach: Höret es, ihr Völker alle!

And Michayhu said, If thou return at all in peace, then hath the Lord not spoken through me. And he said, Hear it, O all ye nations!

28 Und der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, zogen hinauf nach Ramoth-Gilead.

And the king of Israel went up with Jehoshaphat the king of Judah to Ramoth-gil'ad.

29 Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Ich will mich verkleiden und in den Streit ziehen, du aber lege deine Kleider an. Und der König von Israel verkleidete sich, und sie zogen in den Streit.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but do thou put on thy royal garments. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into the battle.

30 Der König von Syrien hatte aber seinen Obersten der Wagen geboten und gesagt: Ihr sollt weder wider einen Geringen streiten, noch wider einen Großen, sondern wider den König von Israel allein.

And the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that he had, saying, Fight ye not with the small or with the great, save only with the king of Israel alone.

31 Und es geschah, als die Obersten der Wagen Josaphat sahen, denn sie sprachen: Das ist der König von Israel! da umringten sie ihn, um zu streiten; und Josaphat schrie; und Jehova half ihm, und Gott lenkte [Eig. lockte] sie von ihm ab.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, This is the king of Israel. And they encompassed him to fight; and Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God induced them to go away from him.

32 Und es geschah, als die Obersten der Wagen sahen, daß er nicht der König von Israel war, da wandten sie sich von ihm ab.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from following him.

33 Und ein Mann spannte den Bogen aufs Geratewohl [W. in seiner Einfalt] und traf den König von Israel zwischen den Panzeranhang und den Panzer. Da sprach er zu seinem Wagenlenker: Wende um [Eig. Wende deine Hände] und führe mich aus dem Lager hinaus, denn ich bin verwundet.

But a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the joints and the armor: wherefore he said to the chariot-driver, Turn about, and carry me out of the camp; for I am wounded.

34 Und der Streit nahm überhand an selbigem Tage, und der König von Israel blieb aufrecht stehen in dem Wagen, den Syrern gegenüber, bis zum Abend; und er starb zur Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs.

And the battle increased on that day: and the king of Israel stayed [himself] up in the chariot against the Syrians until the evening, and he died at the time of the sun's going down.
