1 Samuel 25
1 Und Samuel starb; und ganz Israel versammelte sich und klagte um ihn und begrub ihn in seinem Hause zu Rama. Und David machte sich auf und zog hinab in die Wüste Paran.
And Samuel died; and all the Israelites assembled themselves together, and lamented for him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
2 Und es war ein Mann in Maon, der seine Geschäfte zu Karmel [Karmel in Juda; vergl. Jos. 15,55] hatte; und der Mann war sehr vermögend und hatte dreitausend Schafe und tausend Ziegen; und er war während der Schur seiner Schafe in Karmel.
And there was a man in Ma'on, whose business was in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was, while they were shearing his sheep, at Carmel.
3 Und der Name des Mannes war Nabal, und der Name seines Weibes Abigail. Und das Weib war von guter Einsicht und schön von Gestalt; der Mann aber war hart und boshaft in seinen Handlungen, und er war ein Kalebiter.
Now the name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigayil: and the woman was of good understanding, and of a beautiful form; but the man was hard-hearted and evil in his deeds; and he was of the house of Caleb.
4 Und David hörte in der Wüste, daß Nabal seine Schafe schor.
And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.
5 Da sandte David zehn Knaben, und David sprach zu den Knaben: Ziehet nach Karmel hinauf, und gehet zu Nabal und fraget ihn in meinem Namen nach seinem Wohlergehen,
And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and ask him in my name after his well-being.
6 und sprechet also: Lebe lange! [W. Zum Leben] Und Friede dir, und Friede deinem Hause, und Friede allem, was dein ist!
And ye shall say, May it thus be throughout thy life; and peace be to thee, and peace be to thy house, and unto all that thou hast be peace.
7 Und jetzt habe ich gehört, daß du die Schafscherer hast; nun, deine Hirten sind bei uns gewesen, wir haben ihnen nichts zuleide getan, und nicht das Geringste ist von ihnen vermißt worden alle die Tage, die sie zu Karmel gewesen sind.
And now have I heard that thou hast sheep-shearers: now thy shepherds have been with us, we have not injured them, neither hath there aught been missing unto them, all the time they were at Carmel.
8 Frage deine Knaben, und sie werden es dir kundtun. Mögen denn die Knaben Gnade finden in deinen Augen, denn an einem guten Tage sind wir gekommen; gib doch deinen Knechten und deinem Sohne David, was deine Hand findet!
Ask thy young men, and they will tell it thee. Therefore let the young men find favor in thy eyes; for on a festive day are we come: give, I pray thee, whatsoever thy hand is capable of unto thy servants, and to thy son, to David.
9 Und die Knaben Davids kamen hin und redeten zu Nabal nach allen diesen Worten, im Namen Davids; und sie hielten inne.
And David's young men came, and they spoke to Nabal in accordance with all these words in the name of David; and then they ceased.
10 Aber Nabal antwortete den Knechten Davids und sprach: Wer ist David, und wer der Sohn Isais? Heutzutage sind der Knechte viele, die davonlaufen, ein jeder seinem Herrn.
And Nabal answered the servants of David, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? now-a-days there are many servants that break away every one from his master.
11 Und ich sollte mein Brot und mein Wasser nehmen und mein Geschlachtetes, das ich für meine Scherer geschlachtet habe, und es Männern geben, von denen ich nicht weiß, woher sie sind?
Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my sheep-shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they are?
12 Und die Knaben Davids wandten sich auf ihren Weg; und sie kehrten zurück und kamen und berichteten ihm nach allen diesen Worten.
And David's young men turned about on their way, and returned, and came and told him in accordance with all these words.
13 Da sprach David zu seinen Männern: Gürtet ein jeder sein Schwert um! Und sie gürteten ein jeder sein Schwert um, und auch David gürtete sein Schwert um; und sie zogen hinauf, hinter David her, bei vierhundert Mann, und zweihundert blieben bei dem Geräte.
And David said unto his men, Gird ye on, every man, his sword. And they girded on, every man, his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men, and two hundred abode by the baggage.
14 Und ein Knabe von den Knaben berichtete der Abigail, dem Weibe Nabals, und sprach: Siehe, David hat Boten aus der Wüste gesandt, um unseren Herrn zu segnen; [O. zu begrüßen] aber er hat sie angefahren.
But one of the young men told Abigayil, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to greet our master; but he hath spoken rudely to them.
15 Und doch sind die Männer sehr gut gegen uns gewesen; und es ist uns nichts zuleide geschehen, und wir haben nicht das Geringste vermißt alle die Tage, die wir mit ihnen umhergezogen sind, als wir auf dem Felde waren.
Whereas the men have been very good unto us; and we have not been injured, neither have we missed any thing, all the time that we went about with them, while we were in the field:
16 Sie sind eine Mauer um uns gewesen bei Nacht wie bei Tage, alle die Tage, die wir bei ihnen waren und das Kleinvieh weideten.
A wall were they around us both by night and by day, all the time we were with them, feeding the flocks.
17 Und nun wisse und sieh zu, was du tun willst; denn das Unglück ist beschlossen gegen unseren Herrn und über sein ganzes Haus; und er ist ein solcher Sohn Belials, daß man nicht zu ihm reden kann.
And now know and consider what thou canst do; for evil is determined on against our master, and against all his household; and he is too greatly a worthless man for me to speak to him.
18 Da eilte Abigail und nahm zweihundert Brote und zwei Schläuche Wein und fünf zubereitete Schafe und fünf Maß geröstete Körner und hundert Rosinenkuchen und zweihundert Feigenkuchen, und lud sie auf Esel;
And Abigayil made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.
19 und sie sprach zu ihren Knaben: Ziehet vor mir hin; siehe, ich komme hinter euch her. Aber ihrem Manne Nabal sagte sie nichts davon.
And she said unto her young men, Pass on before me: behold, I come after you. But to her husband Nabal she told nothing.
20 Und es geschah, als sie auf dem Esel ritt und an einer durch den Berg verdeckten Stelle herabkam, siehe, da kamen David und seine Männer herab, ihr entgegen; und sie stieß auf sie.
And it was so, as she was riding on the ass, and coming down by the covert of the mount, that, behold, David and his men came down toward her; and she met them.
21 David aber hatte gesagt: Fürwahr, umsonst habe ich alles behütet, was diesem Menschen in der Wüste gehörte, so daß nicht das Geringste vermißt wurde von allem, was sein ist; und er hat mir Böses für Gutes vergolten!
Now David had said, Yea, for naught only have I guarded all that belongeth to this fellow in the wilderness, so that not the least was missed of all that pertained unto him; and he hath requited me evil instead of good.
22 So tue Gott den Feinden Davids, und so füge er hinzu, wenn ich von allem, was sein ist, bis zum Morgenlicht übriglasse, was männlich ist! [W. was an die Wand pißt; so auch v 34. und später]
So may God do unto the enemies of David, and do so yet farther, if I leave of all that pertaineth to him by the morning light, as much as a dog.
23 Und als Abigail David sah, da stieg sie eilends von dem Esel herab; und sie fiel vor David auf ihr Angesicht und beugte sich zur Erde nieder;
And when Abigayil saw David, she hastened, and alighted off the ass, and fell down before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground.
24 und sie fiel ihm zu Füßen und sprach: Auf mir, mir, mein Herr, sei die Schuld! und laß doch deine Magd zu deinen Ohren reden, und höre die Worte deiner Magd!
And she fell at his feet, and said, On me, me, my lord, is the fault: and let thy hand-maid, I pray thee, speak in thy hearing, and listen to the words of thy hand-maid.
25 Mein Herr kümmere sich doch nicht um diesen Mann Belials, um Nabal; denn wie sein Name, so ist er: Nabal [Tor, gemeiner Mensch] ist sein Name, und Torheit [zugleich: Schlechtigkeit, Gemeinheit] ist bei ihm. Und ich, deine Magd, habe die Knaben meines Herrn nicht gesehen, die du gesandt hast.
Let not my Lord, I pray thee, turn his heart unto this worthless man, unto Nabal; for as his name is, so is he: Nabal is his name, and meanness is with him; but I thy hand-maid did not see the young men of my Lord, whom thou didst send.
26 Und nun, mein Herr, so wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, Jehova hat dich verhindert in Blutschuld zu kommen, und daß deine Hand dir Hülfe schaffe! Und nun, mögen wie Nabal sein deine Feinde und die Böses suchen wider meinen Herrn!
And now, my lord, as the Eternal liveth, and as thy soul liveth, it is the Lord who hath withholden thee from coming to blood-guiltiness, and from helping thyself with thy own hand; and now may like Nabal be thy enemies, and those that seek [to do] my Lord evil.
27 Und nun, dieses Geschenk, [W. dieser Segen; wie 1. Mose 33,11 usw.] das deine Magd meinem Herrn gebracht hat, es werde den Knaben gegeben, die im Gefolge meines Herrn ziehen.
And now this present which thy hand-maid hath brought unto my Lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow in the train my Lord.
28 Vergib doch das Vergehen deiner Magd! denn gewißlich wird Jehova meinem Herrn ein beständiges Haus machen, weil mein Herr die Streite Jehovas streitet, und kein Böses an dir gefunden ward, seitdem du lebst.
Pardon, I pray thee, the trespass of thy hand-maid; for the Lord will certainly make for my lord an enduring house; because the battles of the Lord doth my lord fight, and evil will not be found in thee all thy days.
29 Und ein Mensch ist aufgestanden, dich zu verfolgen und nach deiner Seele zu trachten; aber die Seele meines Herrn wird eingebunden sein in das Bündel der Lebendigen bei Jehova, deinem Gott; und die Seele deiner Feinde, die wird er wegschleudern in der Pfanne der Schleuder.
And though a man is risen up to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: yet will the soul of my Lord be bound in the bond of life with the Lord thy God; and the soul of thy enemies will he hurl away, as out of the middle of the sling.
30 Und es wird geschehen, wenn Jehova meinem Herrn tun wird nach all dem Guten, das er über dich geredet hat, und dich bestellen wird zum Fürsten über Israel,
And it shall come to pass, when the Lord will do to my lord, in accordance with all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and will ordain thee as ruler over Israel,
31 so wird dir dieses nicht zum Anstoß sein, noch zum Herzensvorwurf für meinen Herrn, daß du Blut vergossen habest ohne Ursache, und daß mein Herr sich selbst Hülfe geschafft habe. Und wenn Jehova meinem Herrn wohltun wird, so gedenke deiner Magd.
That this shall not be unto thee as a cause of offense and as a reproach of heart unto my lord, both by having shed blood without cause, and by my lord having righted himself; and when the Lord will do good unto my lord, then do thou remember thy hand-maid.
32 Und David sprach zu Abigail: Gepriesen sei Jehova, der Gott Israels, der dich an diesem Tage mir entgegengesandt hat!
And David said to Abigayil, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent thee this day to meet me;
33 Und gesegnet sei dein Verstand, und gesegnet seiest du, daß du mich heute davon zurückgehalten hast, in Blutschuld zu kommen und mir mit meiner Hand Hülfe zu schaffen!
And blessed be thy intelligence, and blessed be thou, who hast prevented me this day from coming unto blood-guiltiness, and from helping myself with my own hand.
34 Doch aber, so wahr Jehova lebt, der Gott Israels, der mich verhindert hat, dir Übles zu tun, wenn du nicht geeilt hättest und mir nicht entgegengekommen wärest, so wäre dem Nabal bis zum Morgenlicht nicht übriggeblieben, was männlich ist!
But truly, as the Lord the God of Israel liveth, who hath withdrawn me from injuring thee, except thou hadst hastened and come to meet me, surely there would not have been left unto Nabal by the morning-light so much as a dog.
35 Und David nahm von ihrer Hand, was sie ihm gebracht hatte, und sprach zu ihr: Ziehe in Frieden hinauf nach deinem Hause. Siehe, ich habe auf deine Stimme gehört und deine Person angesehen.
And David took out of her hand that which she had brought him; and unto her he said, Go up in peace to thy house: see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have respected thy presence.
36 Und als Abigail zu Nabal kam, siehe, da hatte er ein Mahl in seinem Hause wie ein Königsmahl; und das Herz Nabals war fröhlich in ihm, und er war trunken über die Maßen. Und sie berichtete ihm weder Kleines noch Großes, bis der Morgen hell wurde.
And Abigayil came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, and he was exceedingly drunken; wherefore she told him not a word, either little or great, until the morning-light.
37 Und es geschah am Morgen, als der Weinrausch von Nabal gegangen war, da berichtete ihm sein Weib diese Dinge; und sein Herz erstarb in seinem Innern, und er wurde wie ein Stein.
But it happened in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, that his wife told him these things; and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
38 Und es geschah ungefähr zehn Tage nachher, da schlug Jehova Nabal, und er starb.
And it came to pass in about ten days thereafter, that the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.
39 Und als David hörte, daß Nabal gestorben war, sprach er: Gepriesen sei Jehova, der den Rechtsstreit meiner Schmach von seiten Nabals geführt und seinen Knecht vom Bösen abgehalten hat! Und die Bosheit Nabals hat Jehova auf seinen Kopf zurückkehren lassen. Und David sandte hin und warb um Abigail, [Eig. redete Abigail an] um sie sich zum Weibe zu nehmen.
And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the Lord, who hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath withheld his servant from evil; and the wickedness of Nabal hath the Lord returned upon his own head. And David sent and applied for Abigayil, to take her to himself for wife.
40 Und die Knechte Davids kamen zu Abigail nach Karmel; und sie redeten zu ihr und sprachen: David hat uns zu dir gesandt, um dich zu seinem Weibe zu nehmen.
And the servants of David came to Abigayil to Carmel, and they spoke unto her, saying, David hath sent us unto thee, to take thee to himself for wife.
41 Da stand sie auf und beugte sich nieder, das Antlitz zur Erde, und sprach: Siehe, deine Magd als Dienerin, um die Füße der Knechte meines Herrn zu waschen.
Thereupon she arose, and bowed herself with her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thy hand-maid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
42 Und Abigail machte sich eilends auf und bestieg einen Esel, sie und ihre fünf Mägde, die ihrem Fuße folgten; und sie zog den Boten Davids nach, und sie wurde sein Weib.
And Abigayil hastened, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with her five damsels that went in her train; and she went after the messengers of David, and she became his wife.
43 Und David hatte auch Achinoam von Jisreel genommen; und so wurden sie alle beide seine Weiber.
David also took Achino'am of Yizre'el; and both of them became thus his wives.
44 Saul aber hatte seine Tochter Michal, das Weib Davids, Palti, dem Sohne des Lais, aus Gallim, gegeben.
But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Palti, the son of Layish, who was of Gallim.
