1 Samuel 2
1 Und Hanna betete und sprach: Es frohlockt mein Herz in Jehova, erhöht ist mein Horn in [O. durch] Jehova; mein Mund ist weit aufgetan über meine Feinde, denn ich freue mich in deiner Rettung.
“My heart exults in the Lord, and my horn is exalted in my God. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies. For I have rejoiced in your salvation.
2 Keiner ist heilig wie Jehova, denn keiner ist außer dir, und kein Fels ist wie unser Gott.
Nothing is holy as the Lord is holy. For there is no other beside you. And nothing is strong as our God is strong.
3 Häufet nicht Worte des Stolzes, noch gehe Freches aus eurem Munde hervor; denn ein Gott [El] des Wissens ist Jehova, und von ihm werden die Handlungen gewogen.
Do not continue speaking of great things, boasting. Let what is old depart from your mouth. For the Lord is the God of knowledge, and thoughts are prepared for him.
4 Die Bogen der Helden sind zerbrochen, und die Strauchelnden haben sich mit Kraft umgürtet.
The bow of the powerful has been overwhelmed, and the weak have been girded with strength.
5 Die satt waren, haben sich um Brot verdungen, und die hungrig waren, sind es nicht mehr; [Eig. die Hungrigen feiern] sogar die Unfruchtbare hat sieben geboren, und die Kinderreiche ist dahingewelkt.
Those who before were filled, have hired themselves out for bread. And the starving have been filled, so that the barren have given birth to many. But she who had borne many sons has become unable.
The Lord brings death, and he gives life. He leads away to death, and he brings back again. (Sheol h7585)
7 Jehova macht arm und macht reich; er erniedrigt und erhöht auch.
The Lord impoverishes, and he enriches. He humbles, and he lifts up.
8 Er hebt aus dem Staube empor den Geringen, aus dem Kote erhöht er den Armen, um sie sitzen zu lassen bei den Edlen; [Vergl. Ps. 113,7. 8] und den Thron der Ehre gibt er ihnen als Erbteil. Denn Jehovas sind die Säulen der Erde, und auf sie hat er den Erdkreis gestellt.
He raises up the indigent from the dust, and he lifts up the poor from filth, so that they may sit with princes, and take hold of a throne of glory. For the hinges of the earth belong to the Lord, and he has placed the globe upon them.
9 Die Füße seiner Frommen [Nach and. Les.: seines Frommen] bewahrt er, aber die Gesetzlosen verstummen [kommen um] in Finsternis; denn nicht durch Stärke hat der Mensch die Oberhand.
He will preserve the feet of his holy ones, and the impious will be silenced in darkness. For no man will prevail by his own strength.
10 Jehova-es werden zerschmettert werden, die mit ihm hadern; über ihnen im Himmel wird er donnern. Jehova wird richten die Enden der Erde, und Macht verleihen seinem König und erhöhen das Horn seines Gesalbten. -
The adversaries of the Lord will dread him. And over them, he will thunder in the heavens. The Lord will judge the parts of the earth, and he will give dominion to his king, and he will lift up the horn of his Christ.”
11 Und Elkana ging nach Rama, nach seinem Hause. Der Knabe aber diente Jehova vor Eli, dem Priester.
And Elkanah went away to Ramah, to his house. But the boy was a minister in the sight of the Lord, before the face of Eli, the priest.
12 Und die Söhne Elis waren Söhne Belials, sie kannten Jehova nicht.
But the sons of Eli were sons of Belial, not knowing the Lord,
13 Und die Weise der Priester gegen das Volk war also: So oft jemand ein Schlachtopfer opferte, kam der Knabe [d. h. der Diener] des Priesters, wenn man das Fleisch kochte, und hatte eine Gabel mit drei Zinken in seiner Hand;
nor the priestly office for the people. And so, no matter who had immolated a victim, the servant of the priest would arrive, while the flesh was still cooking, and he would take a three-pronged hook in his hand,
14 und er stieß in das Becken oder in die Mulde oder in den Kessel oder in den Topf: alles, was die Gabel heraufbrachte, nahm der Priester damit [And. l.: für sich] weg. Also taten sie zu Silo allen Israeliten, die dahin kamen.
and put it into the vessel, or into the cauldron, or into the cooking pot, or into the pan, and all that the hook lifted up, the priest took for himself. So they did to all of Israel who arrived at Shiloh.
15 Sogar ehe man das Fett räucherte, kam der Knabe des Priesters und sprach zu dem Manne, der opferte: Gib Fleisch zum Braten für den Priester! denn er will kein gekochtes Fleisch von dir annehmen, sondern rohes.
In addition, before they burned the fat, the servant of the priest would arrive, and he would say to the one who was immolating: “Give me the flesh, so that I may boil it for the priest. For I will not accept cooked meat from you, but raw.”
16 Und sprach der Mann zu ihm: Sogleich werden sie das Fett räuchern, dann nimm dir, wie deine Seele begehrt; so sprach er: Nein, sondern jetzt sollst du es geben, und wenn nicht, so nehme ich es mit Gewalt.
And the one who was immolating would say to him, “First, allow the fat to be burned today, according to custom, and then take for yourself whatever your soul desires.” But in response, he would say to him: “By no means. For you will give it to me now, otherwise I will take it by force.”
17 Und die Sünde der Jünglinge war sehr groß vor Jehova; denn die Leute verachteten die Opfergabe Jehovas.
Therefore, the sin of the servants was exceedingly great before the Lord. For they drew men away from the sacrifice of the Lord.
18 Und Samuel diente vor Jehova, ein Knabe, umgürtet mit einem leinenen Ephod. [Eig. einem Ephod von Weißzeug]
But Samuel was ministering before the face of the Lord; he was a youth girded with a linen ephod.
19 Und seine Mutter machte ihm ein kleines Oberkleid und brachte es ihm von Jahr zu Jahr hinauf, wenn sie mit ihrem Manne hinaufging, um das jährliche Schlachtopfer zu opfern.
And his mother fashioned a little tunic for him, which she brought to him on the appointed days, ascending with her husband, so that he might immolate the solemn sacrifice.
20 Und Eli segnete Elkana und sein Weib und sprach: Jehova gebe dir Samen von diesem Weibe an Stelle des Geliehenen, [O. Erbetenen] das man Jehova geliehen hat. Und sie gingen nach Hause. [W. nach seinem Orte]
And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife. And he said to him, “May the Lord repay to you offspring from this woman, on behalf of the loan that you offered to the Lord.” And they went away to their own place.
21 Und Jehova suchte Hanna heim, und sie wurde schwanger; und sie gebar drei Söhne und zwei Töchter. Und der Knabe Samuel wurde groß bei Jehova.
Then the Lord visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. And the youth Samuel was magnified with the Lord.
22 Und Eli war sehr alt; und er hörte alles, was seine Söhne dem ganzen Israel taten, und daß sie bei den Weibern lagen, die sich scharten am Eingang des Zeltes der Zusammenkunft.
Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons were doing to all of Israel, and how they were sleeping with the women who were waiting at the door of the tabernacle.
23 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Warum tut ihr dergleichen Dinge? denn ich höre diese eure bösen Handlungen von dem ganzen Volke.
And he said to them: “Why are you doing these kinds of things, very wicked things, that I have heard from all the people?
24 Nicht so, meine Söhne! denn nicht gut ist das Gerücht, das ich höre; ihr machet das Volk Jehovas übertreten.
My sons, do not be willing. For it is no good report that I am hearing, so that you would cause the people of the Lord to transgress.
25 Wenn ein Mensch gegen einen Menschen sündigt, so entscheidet Gott über ihn; [näml. als Schiedsrichter] wenn aber ein Mensch gegen Jehova sündigt, wer wird für ihn bitten? [Eig. sich ins Mittel legen] Aber sie hörten nicht auf die Stimme ihres Vaters, denn Jehova war willens, sie zu töten.
If a man has sinned against a man, God may be able to be appeased over him. But if a man has sinned against the Lord, who will pray for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, that the Lord was willing to kill them.
26 Und der Knabe Samuel wurde fort und fort größer und angenehmer, sowohl bei Jehova als auch bei den Menschen.
But the youth Samuel advanced, and grew up, and he was pleasing to the Lord, as well as to men.
27 Und es kam ein Mann Gottes zu Eli und sprach zu ihm: So spricht Jehova: Habe ich mich dem Hause deines Vaters nicht deutlich geoffenbart, als sie in Ägypten waren im Hause des Pharao? [O. in Ägypten dem Hause des Pharao angehörten]
Then a man of God went to Eli, and he said to him: “Thus says the Lord: Was I not revealed openly to the house of your father, when they were in Egypt in the house of Pharaoh?
28 Und ich habe ihn aus allen Stämmen Israels mir zum Priester erwählt, um auf meinem Altar zu opfern, um Räucherwerk zu räuchern, um das Ephod vor mir zu tragen; und ich gab dem Hause deines Vaters alle Feueropfer der Kinder Israel.
And I chose him out of all the tribes of Israel for myself as priest, so that he might ascend to my altar, and burn incense to me, and wear the ephod before me. And I gave to the house of your father all the sacrifices of the sons of Israel.
29 Warum tretet ihr mit Füßen mein Schlachtopfer und mein Speisopfer, die ich in der Wohnung geboten habe? Und du ehrest deine Söhne mehr als mich, daß ihr euch mästet von den Erstlingen aller Opfergaben Israels, meines Volkes.
Why have you kicked away my victims and my gifts, which I instructed to be offered in the temple? And why have you given more honor to your sons than to me, so that you eat the first-fruits of every sacrifice of my people Israel?
30 Darum spricht [Vergl. die Anm. zu 1. Mose 22,16] Jehova, der Gott Israels: Ich habe allerdings gesagt: Dein Haus und das Haus deines Vaters sollen vor mir wandeln ewiglich; aber nun spricht [Vergl. die Anm. zu 1. Mose 22,16] Jehova: Fern sei es von mir! Denn die mich ehren, werde ich ehren, und die mich verachten, werden gering geachtet werden.
Because of this, the Lord God of Israel says: I have spoken clearly, so that your house, and the house of your father, may minister in my sight, even forever. But now the Lord says: May this be far from me. Instead, whoever will have glorified me, I will glorify him. But whoever despises me, they will be despised.
31 Siehe, Tage kommen, da werde ich deinen Arm und den Arm des Hauses deines Vaters abhauen, daß es keinen Greis mehr in deinem Hause geben wird.
Behold the days are arriving, when I will cut off your arm, and the arm of the house of your father, so that there will not be an old man in your house.
32 Und du wirst einen Bedränger in der Wohnung [O. die Bedrängnis der Wohnung] sehen, in allem, was Jehova [W. er] Gutes tun wird [O. statt alles dessen, getan haben würde] an Israel; und es wird keinen Greis mehr in deinem Hause geben alle Tage.
And you will see your rival in the temple, amid all the prosperity of Israel. And there will not be an old man in your house for all days.
33 Und der Mann, den ich dir nicht ausrotten werde von meinem Altar, wird zum Erlöschen deiner Augen und zum Verschmachten deiner Seele sein; und aller Anwuchs deines Hauses, sie sollen als Männer sterben.
Yet truly, I will not entirely take away a man of you from my altar, but such that your eyes may fail, and your soul may melt away, and a great part of your house may die out, as it pertains to the state of men.
34 Und dies soll dir das Zeichen sein: das, was über deine beiden Söhne kommen wird, über Hophni und Pinehas: an einem Tage sollen sie beide sterben.
But this will be a sign to you, which will happen to your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas: on one day they both will die.
35 Und ich werde mir einen treuen Priester erwecken: der wird tun, wie es in meinem Herzen und in meiner Seele ist; und ich werde ihm ein beständiges Haus bauen, und er wird vor meinem Gesalbten wandeln alle Tage.
And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will act in accord with my heart and my soul. And I will build a faithful house for him. And he will walk before my Christ for all days.
36 Und es soll geschehen, ein jeder, der in deinem Hause übrigbleibt, wird kommen, um sich vor ihm niederzuwerfen für eine kleine Silbermünze und einen Laib Brot, und wird sagen: Geselle mich doch einem der Priesterämter bei, daß ich einen Bissen Brot esse.
Then this will be in the future, that whoever will have remained of your house, he will approach so that he may pray on his behalf. And he will offer a coin of silver, and a twist of bread. And he will say: ‘Permit me, I beg you, one part of the priestly office, so that I may eat a mouthful of bread.’”
