1 Samuel 10
1 Und Samuel nahm die Ölflasche und goß sie aus auf sein Haupt, und er küßte ihn und sprach: Ist es nicht also, daß Jehova dich zum Fürsten über sein Erbteil gesalbt hat?
Then took Samuel a flask of oil, and poured out upon his head, and kissed him, —and said—Is it not, that Yahweh hath anointed thee over his inheritance, as leader?
2 Wenn du heute von mir weggehst, so wirst du zwei Männer treffen beim Grabe Rahels, an der Grenze [O. im Gebiet] von Benjamin, zu Zelzach; und sie werden zu dir sagen: Die Eselinnen sind gefunden, die du zu suchen gegangen bist; und siehe, dein Vater hat die Sache der Eselinnen aufgegeben, und er ist um euch bekümmert und spricht: Was soll ich wegen meines Sohnes tun?
When thou departest, to-day, from me, then shalt thou find two men by the grave of Rachel, within the boundary of Benjamin, in Zelzah, —and they will say unto thee, The asses are found, which thou wentest to seek, and lo! thy father hath abandoned caring for the asses, and is concerned for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
3 Und gehst du von dannen weiter und kommst zur Terebinthe Tabor, so werden dich daselbst drei Männer treffen, die zu Gott nach Bethel hinaufgehen; einer trägt drei Böcklein, und einer trägt drei Laibe Brot, und einer trägt einen Schlauch Wein.
Then shalt thou pass on quickly from thence onwards, and come as far as the oak of Tabor, and there shall find thee there, three men going up unto God, at Bethel, —one, carrying three kids, and, another, carrying three cakes of bread, and, another, carrying a skin of wine;
4 Und sie werden dich nach deinem Wohlergehen fragen und dir zwei Brote geben, und du sollst sie von ihrer Hand nehmen.
then will they ask thee, of thy welfare, —and give thee two cakes of bread, which thou shalt receive at their hand.
5 Danach wirst du zu dem Hügel Gottes [H. Gibea-Elohim] kommen, wo Aufstellungen der Philister sind; und es wird geschehen, sowie du daselbst in die Stadt kommst, wirst du einer Schar Propheten begegnen, die von der Höhe herabkommen, und vor ihnen her Harfe und Tamburin und Flöte und Laute, und sie werden weissagen [d. h. reden, getrieben durch den Geist Gottes, oder auch, wie z. B. Kap. 18,10, durch einen bösen Geist.]
After that, shalt thou come unto the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines, —and it shall be, as thou comest in thither into the city, thou shalt light upon a band of prophets, coming down from the high place, and, before them, a harp, and a timbrel, and a flute, and a lyre, they having been moved to prophesy.
6 Und der Geist Gottes wird über dich geraten, und du wirst mit ihnen weissagen und wirst in einen anderen Mann verwandelt werden.
Then will come suddenly upon thee, the Spirit of Yahweh, and thou shalt be moved to prophesy with them, —and shalt be changed into another man.
7 Und es soll geschehen, wenn dir diese Zeichen eintreffen, so tue, was deine Hand finden wird; denn Gott ist mit dir.
And it shall be, when these signs shall come unto thee, then act thou for thyself, as thou shalt find occasion, for, God, is with thee.
8 Und gehe vor mir nach Gilgal hinab; und siehe, ich werde zu dir hinabkommen, um Brandopfer zu opfern, um Friedensopfer [O. Dankopfer] zu schlachten; sieben Tage sollst du warten, bis ich zu dir komme, und ich werde dir kundtun, was du tun sollst.
And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal, for lo! I am coming down unto thee, to offer up ascending-offerings, to sacrifice peace-offerings, —seven days, shalt thou tarry, until I come unto thee, then will I let thee know what thou shalt do.
9 Und es geschah, als er seinen Rücken wandte, um von Samuel wegzugehen, da verwandelte Gott sein Herz; und alle diese Zeichen trafen ein an jenem Tage.
And so it was, that, when he turned away to depart from Samuel, God gave him another heart, —and all these signs came to pass that day.
10 Und als sie dorthin an den Hügel kamen, siehe, da kam ihm eine Schar Propheten entgegen; und der Geist Gottes geriet über ihn, und er weissagte in ihrer Mitte.
And, when they came thither to the hill, lo! a band of prophets coming to meet him, —then came suddenly upon him, the Spirit of God, and he was moved to prophesy in their midst.
11 Und es geschah, als alle, die ihn von früher her kannten, sahen, und siehe, er weissagte mit den Propheten, da sprach das Volk einer zum anderen: Was ist denn dem Sohne Kis geschehen? ist auch Saul unter den Propheten?
And it came to pass, that, all who knew him aforetime, looked, and lo! with the prophets, he did prophesy. So the people said, one to another—What, now, hath befallen the son of Kish? Is, even Saul, among the prophets?
12 Und ein Mann von dort antwortete und sprach: Und wer ist ihr Vater? Daher ist es zum Sprichwort geworden: Ist auch Saul unter den Propheten?
Then responded one of that place, and said, But who is, their father? For this cause, it became a proverb, Is, even Saul, among the prophets?
13 Und als er aufgehört hatte zu weissagen, kam er auf die Höhe.
And, when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
14 Und der Oheim Sauls sprach zu ihm und zu seinem Knaben: Wohin seid ihr gegangen? Und er sprach: Die Eselinnen zu suchen; und als wir sahen, daß die nirgend waren, gingen wir zu Samuel.
Then said Saul’s uncle unto him, and unto his young man—Whither have ye been? And he said, To seek the asses, and, when they were nowhere, to be seen, we came unto Samuel.
15 Und der Oheim Sauls sprach: Teile mir doch mit, was Samuel zu euch gesagt hat.
And Saul’s uncle said, —Do tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said to you.
16 Und Saul sprach zu seinem Oheim: Er tat uns für gewiß kund, daß die Eselinnen gefunden seien. Aber die Sache von dem Königtum, wovon Samuel geredet hatte, teilte er ihm nicht mit.
And Saul said unto his uncle, He, told, us that the asses were found, —but, as to the matter of the kingdom, he told him not what Samuel had said.
17 Und Samuel berief das Volk zu Jehova nach Mizpa.
Then Samuel called out the people, unto Yahweh, at Mizpah,
18 Und er sprach zu den Kindern Israel: So spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels: Ich habe Israel aus Ägypten heraufgeführt und euch errettet aus der Hand der Ägypter und aus der Hand all der Königreiche, die euch bedrückten;
and said unto the sons of Israel—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel: I myself, brought up Israel, out of Egypt, —and rescued you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that distressed you.
19 ihr aber habt heute euren Gott verworfen, der euch aus allen euren Übeln und euren Drangsalen gerettet hat, und habt zu ihm gesagt: Einen König [And. l.: habt gesagt: Nein, sondern einen König; wie Kap. 8,19] sollst du über uns setzen! Nun denn, stellet euch auf vor Jehova nach euren Stämmen und nach euren Tausenden!
Yet, ye, to-day, have rejected your God, who, himself, hath been giving you salvation from all your calamities and your distresses, and ye have said to him: A king, shalt thou set over us, —Now, therefore, present yourselves before Yahweh, by your tribes, and by your thousands.
20 Und Samuel ließ alle Stämme Israels herzutreten; und es wurde getroffen der Stamm Benjamin.
And, when Samuel had brought near all the tribes of Israel, then was taken the tribe of Benjamin.
21 Und er ließ den Stamm Benjamin nach seinen Geschlechtern herzutreten; und es wurde getroffen das Geschlecht Matri; und es wurde getroffen Saul, der Sohn Kis. Und sie suchten ihn, aber er wurde nicht gefunden.
And, when he had brought near the tribe of Benjamin, by their families, then was taken the family of Matri, —and, when he had brought near the family of Matri, man by man, then was taken Saul the son of Kish; so they sought him, but he was not to be found.
22 Und sie befragten wiederum Jehova: Wird der Mann noch hierher kommen? [O. Ist noch ein Mann hierher gekommen] Und Jehova sprach: Siehe, er hat sich bei dem Geräte versteckt.
Then asked they again of Yahweh, Hath there yet to come in hither a man? And Yahweh said, Lo! he, hath hid himself among the stores.
23 Da liefen sie hin und holten ihn von dannen; und er stellte sich mitten unter das Volk, und er war höher als alles Volk, von seiner Schulter an aufwärts.
So they ran, and fetched him thence, and, when he presented himself in the midst of the people, then was he [seen to be] taller than any of the people, from his shoulders and upwards.
24 Und Samuel sprach zu dem ganzen Volke: Habt ihr gesehen, den Jehova erwählt hat? Denn [O. daß] keiner ist wie er im ganzen Volke. Da jauchzte das ganze Volk, und sie sprachen: Es lebe der König!
And Samuel said unto all the people—Have ye seen him whom Yahweh hath chosen, that there is none like him, among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said—Let the king live!
25 Und Samuel sagte dem Volke das Recht des Königtums, und er schrieb es in ein Buch und legte es vor Jehova nieder. Und Samuel entließ das ganze Volk, einen jeden nach seinem Hause.
Then Samuel declared unto the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a scroll, and laid it up before Yahweh. And Samuel sent away all the people, every man to his own house.
26 Und auch Saul ging nach seinem Hause, nach Gibea; und mit ihm zog die Schar, deren Herz Gott gerührt hatte.
Yea, even Saul, went to his own house, at Gibeah, —and the valiant men whose heart God had moved went with him.
27 Aber etliche Söhne Belials sprachen: Wie sollte der uns retten? Und sie verachteten ihn und brachten ihm kein Geschenk; aber er war wie taub.
But, abandoned men, said—How can this one save us? So they treated him with contempt, and brought him no present, —but he was as one that was deaf.
