Psalm 73
1 Ein Psalm Asafs. / Ja, gütig ist Gott gegen Israel, / Gegen die, die reines Herzens sind.
A Psalme committed to Asaph. Yet God is good to Israel: euen, to the pure in heart.
2 Doch meine Füße wären beinah gestrauchelt, / Meine Tritte fast ausgeglitten.
As for me, my feete were almost gone: my steps had well neere slipt.
3 Denn ich ward neidisch auf die Prahler, / Als ich das Glück der Frevler sah.
For I feared at the foolish, when I sawe the prosperitie of the wicked.
4 Sie kennen ja keine Schmerzen, / Und von Gesundheit strotzt ihr Leib.
For there are no bandes in their death, but they are lustie and strong.
5 Nicht sind sie in Unglück wie Sterbliche sonst, / Sie leiden nicht Plage wie andre Leute.
They are not in trouble as other men, neither are they plagued with other men.
6 Drum ist auch Hoffart ihr Halsschmuck, / Unrecht umhüllt sie als ihr Gewand.
Therefore pride is as a chayne vnto them, and crueltie couereth them as a garment.
7 Ihr Auge tritt mühsam hervor aus dem Fett, / Ihr Herz ist voll stolzer Gedanken.
Their eyes stande out for fatnesse: they haue more then heart can wish.
8 Sie höhnen und sprechen boshaft von Gewalt, / Sie reden von oben herab.
They are licentious, and speake wickedly of their oppression: they talke presumptuously.
9 In den Himmel setzen sie ihren Mund, / Ihre Zunge ergeht sich auf Erden.
They set their mouth against heauen, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Drum fallen ihnen die Leute zu, / Die schlürfen Wasser in Fülle ein.
Therefore his people turne hither: for waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 Sie sprechen: "Wie sollte Gott etwas wissen? / Wohnt denn bei dem Höchsten Kenntnis?
And they say, Howe doeth God know it? or is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Diese Leute leben zwar ohne Gott, / Doch haben sie, ewig ungestört, / Reichtum und Macht erlangt.
Lo, these are the wicked, yet prosper they alway, and increase in riches.
13 Umsonst ist's, daß ich mein Herz hab reingehalten / Und meine Hände in Unschuld gewaschen.
Certainely I haue clensed mine heart in vaine, and washed mine hands in innocencie.
14 Ich war doch geplagt den ganzen Tag / Und ward alle Morgen aufs neue gestraft."
For dayly haue I bene punished, and chastened euery morning.
15 Hätt ich gedacht: So will ich auch reden, / Ich hätte verleugnet deiner Kinder Geschlecht.
If I say, I will iudge thus, beholde the generation of thy children: I haue trespassed.
16 So sann ich denn nach, dies Rätsel zu lösen; / Doch allzu schwierig war es für mich;
Then thought I to know this, but it was too painefull for me,
17 Bis ich in Gottes Heiligtum ging / Und auf ihr (trauriges) Ende merkte.
Vntill I went into the Sanctuarie of God: then vnderstoode I their ende.
18 Ja, auf schlüpfrigen Boden stellst du sie, / Du stürzest sie ins Verderben.
Surely thou hast set them in slipperie places, and castest them downe into desolation.
19 Wie sind sie im Nu zunichte geworden, / Geschwunden, vergangen durch Schreckensgerichte!
How suddenly are they destroyed, perished and horribly consumed,
20 Wie ein Traum verfliegt, sobald man erwacht: / So wirst du, Adonái, ihr Bild verschmähn, / Wenn du dich aufmachst (zu richten).
As a dreame when one awaketh! O Lord, when thou raisest vs vp, thou shalt make their image despised.
21 Würde (nun wieder) mein Herz erbittert, / Und fühlt ich es stechen in meinen Nieren:
Certainely mine heart was vexed, and I was pricked in my reines:
22 Dann wär ich ein Narr und wüßte nichts, / Ich wäre sogar wie ein Tier vor dir.
So foolish was I and ignorant: I was a beast before thee.
23 Aber ich bleibe nun stets bei dir, / Du hast ja erfaßt meine rechte Hand.
Yet I was alway with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Nach deinem Ratschluß wirst du mich leiten / Und nimmst mich endlich mit Ehren auf.
Thou wilt guide me by thy counsell, and afterward receiue me to glory.
25 Wen hätt ich im Himmel (ohne dich)? / Und bist du mein, so begehr ich nichts weiter auf Erden.
Whom haue I in heauen but thee? and I haue desired none in the earth with thee.
26 Ist auch mein Leib geschwunden, und schlägt mein Herz nicht mehr: / Meines Herzens Hort und mein Besitz / Bleibt doch Elohim auf ewig!
My flesh fayleth and mine heart also: but God is the strength of mine heart, and my portion for euer.
27 Denn die von dir weichen, die kommen um; / Du vertilgst, die dich treulos verlassen.
For loe, they that withdrawe themselues from thee, shall perish: thou destroyest all them that goe a whoring from thee.
28 Mir aber ist köstlich die Nähe Elohims. / Auf Adonái Jahwe ruht mein Vertraun: / So will ich verkündigen all dein Tun.
As for me, it is good for me to draw neere to God: therefore I haue put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy workes.
