Psalm 59
1 Dem Sangmeister, nach (der Weise des Liedes: ) "Verderbe nicht!". / Ein Gedicht Davids, als Saul hinsandte und sie das Haus bewachten, um ihn zu töten.
To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' Of David. Michtam; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God; secure me on high from them that rise up against me.
2 Errette mich, mein Gott, von meinen Feinden, / Vor meinen Widersachern schütze mich!
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from men of blood.
3 Rette mich von den Übeltätern / Und hilf mir gegen die Mörder!
For behold, they lie in wait for my soul; strong ones are gathered against me: not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Jehovah.
4 Denn fürwahr, sie lauern mir auf. / Es rotten sich Grausame wider mich, / doch bin ich, o Jahwe, schuldlos daran.
They run and prepare themselves without [my] fault: awake to meet me, and behold.
5 Aber trotz meiner Unschuld stürmen sie an und rüsten sich. / Auf, hilf mir, sieh drein!
Yea, do thou, Jehovah, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise to visit all the nations: be not gracious to any plotters of iniquity. (Selah)
6 Du, Jahwe Elohim der Heerscharen (Herr), Gott Israels, / Wach auf, alle Heiden zu strafen! / Verschone keinen der freveln Verräter! (Sela)
They return in the evening; they howl like a dog, and go round about the city:
7 Jeden Abend kehren sie wieder, knurren wie Hunde, / Durchstreifen die Stadt.
Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips: for who [say they] doth hear?
8 Fürwahr, sie geifern mit ihrem Munde, / Auf ihren Lippen sind Schwerter. / Denn (sie denken: ) "Wer hört es?"
But thou, Jehovah, wilt laugh at them; thou wilt have all the nations in derision.
9 Du aber, Jahwe, lachest ihrer, / Du spottest aller Heiden.
Their strength! ...I will take heed to thee; for God is my high fortress.
10 Mein Hort, dein will ich harren; / Denn Elohim ist mein Schutz.
God, whose loving-kindness will come to meet me, — God shall let me see [my desire] upon mine enemies.
11 Mein Gott kommt mir mit seiner Gnade entgegen, / An meinen Laurern läßt Elohim meine Lust mich sehn.
Slay them not, lest my people forget; by thy power make them wander, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.
12 Töte sie nicht, damit es mein Volk nicht vergesse; / Treib sie umher durch deine Macht und stürze sie nieder, / Du, unser Schild, Adonái!
[Because of] the sin of their mouth, the word of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; and because of cursing and lying which they speak.
13 Es sündigt ihr Mund in jedem Wort ihrer Lippen / — Sie sollen sich fangen in ihrem Hochmut! —, / Ihr Reden ist nichts als Fluchen und Lügen.
Make an end in wrath, make an end, that they may be no more; that they may know that God ruleth in Jacob, unto the ends of the earth. (Selah)
14 Vertilg sie im Grimm, vertilge sie, daß sie nicht mehr seien! / Dann wird man erkennen, daß Elohim in Jakob herrscht / Bis an die Enden der Erde. (Sela)
And in the evening they shall return, they shall howl like a dog, and go round about the city.
15 Jeden Abend kehren sie wieder, knurren wie Hunde, / Durchstreifen die Stadt.
They shall wander about for meat, and stay all night if they be not satisfied.
16 Sie irren umher und suchen nach Speise. / Wenn sie nicht satt werden, murren sie.
But as for me, I will sing of thy strength; yea, I will sing aloud of thy loving-kindness in the morning; for thou hast been to me a high fortress, and a refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Ich aber will singen von deiner Macht / Und jauchzen am Morgen ob deiner Huld. / Denn du bist mein Schutz, / Eine Zuflucht am Tage der Not. Mein Hort, dir will ich singen. / Denn Elohim ist mein Schutz, mein gnädiger Gott.
Unto thee, my strength, will I sing psalms; for God is my high fortress, the God of my mercy.
