Psalm 33
1 Jubelt, Gerechte, in Jahwe! / Den Redlichen ziemet Lobgesang.
Shout for joy, ye righteous, in Yahweh, To the upright, seemly is praise.
2 Dankt Jahwe auf der Zither, / Auf zehnsaitiger Harfe spielet ihm!
Give ye thanks unto Yahweh with the lyre, With a harp of ten strings, make ye music unto him.
3 Singt ihm ein neues Lied, / Spielt schön und kräftig mit Jubelgetön!
Sing unto him, a song that is new, With skill, sweep the strings, with loud noise.
4 Denn Jahwes Wort ist wahrhaftig, / Und all sein Tun vollzieht sich in Treue.
For right is the word of Yahweh, and, all his work, is in faithfulness:
5 Er liebet Gerechtigkeit und Recht, / Jahwes Güte erfüllt die Erde.
Who loveth righteousness and justice, With the lovingkindness of Yahweh, the earth is full.
6 Durch Jahwes Wort sind die Himmel gemacht, / Durch den Hauch seines Mundes ihr ganzes Heer.
By the word of Yahweh, the heavens were made, and, by the spirit of his mouth, all their host:
7 Er sammelt als Haufen des Meeres Wasser, / Er legt die Fluten in Vorratskammern.
Who gathered as into a skin-bottle the waters of the sea, Delivering, into treasuries, the roaring deeps.
8 Vor Jahwe fürchte sich alle Welt, / Alle Erdbewohner erbeben vor ihm!
Let all the earth, stand in awe of Yahweh, Of him, be in dread, all ye inhabitants of the world;
9 Denn er hat gesprochen — da ward es; / Er hat geboten — und es stand da.
For, he, spake, and it was, He, commanded, and it stood forth.
10 Jahwe vernichtet der Heiden Plan, / Vereitelt der Völker Gedanken.
Yahweh, hath frustrated the counsel of nations, hath brought to nothing the devices of peoples.
11 Jahwes Plan bleibt ewig bestehn, / Seines Herzens Gedanken für alle Geschlechter.
The counsel of Yahweh, to times age-abiding, shall stand, The devices of his heart, from generation to generation.
12 Heil dem Volke, des Gott ist Jahwe, / Dem Volk, das er sich zum Erbe erwählt!
How happy the nation whose God is, Yahweh, The people he hath chosen as his own inheritance!
13 Vom Himmel blicket Jahwe herab, / Er sieht alle Menschenkinder.
Out of the heavens, hath Yahweh looked, He hath seen all the sons of men:
14 Von seiner Wohnstatt schauet er / Auf alle Bewohner der Erde.
Out of his settled place of abode, hath he fixed his gaze on all the inhabitants of the earth:
15 Er bildet allen ihr Herz, / Er achtet auf all ihr Tun.
Who fashioneth their heart all together, Who understandeth all their doings.
16 Nicht siegt ein König durch große Macht, / Nicht rettet ein Held sich durch große Kraft.
Not a king, can be saved by greatness of force, nor, hero, deliver himself by greatness of strength:
17 Nichts nützen Rosse zum Siege, / Ihre große Stärke hilft nicht entrinnen.
A deception, is the horse, for victory, and, by his great strength, shall he not deliver.
18 Auf die, die ihn fürchten, blickt Jahwes Auge, / Auf die, die harren auf seine Huld,
Lo! the eye of Yahweh, is toward them who revere him, unto such as are waiting for his lovingkindness:
19 Daß er ihr Leben vom Tode errette / Und sie erhalte in Hungersnot.
To rescue, from death, their soul, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Unsre Seele wartet auf Jahwe, / Er ist uns Hilfe und Schild.
Our own soul, hath waited for Yahweh, Our help and our shield, is he!
21 Ja, in ihm freuet sich unser Herz. / Seinem heiligen Namen vertrauen wir.
For, in him, shall our heart rejoice, For, in his holy Name, have we trusted.
22 Deine Gnade, Jahwe, sei über uns, / Gleichwie wir auf dich harren!
Be thy lovingkindness, O Yahweh, upon us, According as we have waited for thee.
