Psalm 141

1 Ein Psalm Davids. / Jahwe, ich habe dich angerufen: eile zu mir, / Horch auf mein Flehn, wenn ich zu dir rufe!

Yhwh, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

2 Nimm mein Gebet als Rauchopfer an, / Meiner Hände Aufheben als Abendopfer.

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 Stell eine Wache, Jahwe, vor meinen Mund, / Bewahre die Tür meiner Lippen!

Set a watch, O Yhwh, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4 Laß mein Herz sich nicht neigen zum Bösen, / Untat zu üben in Frevlermut / Im Bunde mit Männern, die übeltun; / Und von ihren Leckerbissen laß mich nicht essen!

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

5 Rügt mich ein Gerechter in Liebe und tadelt er mich, / So soll mein Haupt dies köstliche Öl nicht verschmähn; / Denn noch begegne ich nur mit Gebet ihren bösen Tücken.

Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

6 Werden ihre Richter vom Felsen gestürzt, / Dann heißt man meine Worte als lieblich willkommen.

When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

7 Wie einer das Erdreich mit Furchen durchzieht und lockert, / So sind unsre Gebeine dem Rachen des Grabes hingestreut. (Sheol h7585)

Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. (Sheol h7585)

8 Denn auf dich, Jahwe Adonái, sehn meine Augen, / Bei dir such ich Schutz: gib mich nicht hin in den Tod!

But mine eyes are unto thee, O Yhwh the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

9 Bewahre mich vor der Schlinge, die man mir gelegt, / Vor den Nachstellungen der Übeltäter!

Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.

10 Laß die Frevler fallen ins eigene Netz! / Zugleich werd ich für immer daran vorübergehn.

Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.
