Psalm 128

1 Ein Stufenlied. / Heil dem, der Jahwe fürchtet, / Der da wandelt auf seinen Wegen!

A Song of Ascents. Happy is every one that feareth the LORD, that walketh in His ways.

2 Deiner Hände Erwerb — fürwahr, du wirst ihn genießen: / Heil dir! es wird dir wohl ergehn.

When thou eatest the labour of thy hands, happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

3 Dein Weib wird sein wie ein fruchtbarer Weinstock / Drinnen in deinem Hause; / Deine Kinder sind wie Ölbaumpflänzchen / Rings um deinen Tisch.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of thy house; thy children like olive plants, round about thy table.

4 Ja wahrlich, so wird gesegnet der Mann, / Der Jahwe fürchtet.

Behold, surely thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

5 Es segne dich Jahwe von Zion her, / Daß du schauest Jerusalems Glück / Dein ganzes Leben lang,

The LORD bless thee out of Zion; and see thou the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life;

6 Und schauest Kindeskinder! / Friede sei über Israel!

And see thy children's children. Peace be upon Israel!
