Markus 6
1 Dann ging er weg von dort und kam in seine Vaterstadt, und seine Jünger folgten ihm.
Leaving that place He came into His own country, accompanied by His disciples.
2 Am nächsten Sabbat fing er an, in dem Versammlungshaus zu lehren. Viele der Hörer sprachen voll Staunen: "Woher hat er das? Welche Weisheit ist ihm verliehen? Und solche Wunder geschehen durch seine Hände?
On the Sabbath He proceeded to teach in the synagogue; and many, as they heard Him, were astonished. "Where did he acquire all this?" they asked. "What is this wisdom that has been given to him? And what are these marvellous miracles which his hands perform?
3 Ist das nicht der Tischler, der Sohn Marias und der Bruder des Jakobus, Joses, Judas und Simon? wohnen nicht auch seine Schwestern hier bei uns?" Und sie wollten nichts von ihm wissen.
Is not this the carpenter, Mary's son, the brother of James and Joses, Jude and Simon? And do not his sisters live here among us?" So they turned angrily away.
4 Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: "Ein Prophet gilt nirgends so wenig wie in seiner Heimat und bei seinen Verwandten und Hausgenossen."
But Jesus said to them, "There is no Prophet without honour except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own home."
5 Er konnte dort auch kein einziges Wunder tun; nur einige Kranke machte er durch Handauflegung gesund.
And He could not do any miracle there, except that He laid His hands on a few who were out of health and cured them; and
6 Und er war verwundert über ihren Unglauben. Dann durchzog er lehrend die Dörfer im Umkreis.
He wondered at their unbelief. So He went round the adjacent villages, teaching.
7 Darauf rief er die Zwölf herbei und begann sie zu Zweien auszusenden. Dabei gab er ihnen Macht über die unreinen Geister.
Then summoning the Twelve to Him, He proceeded to send them out by twos, and gave them authority over the foul spirits.
8 Er befahl ihnen, außer einem Wanderstab nicht mit auf den Weg zu nehmen: kein Brot, keinen Ranzen, kein Geld im Gürtel;
He charged them to take nothing for the journey except a stick; no bread, no bag, and not a penny in their pockets,
9 "aber", so fuhr er fort, "ihr sollt Schuhe tragen, doch nicht zwei Unterkleider anziehen."
but to go wearing sandals. "And do not," He said, "put on an extra under garment.
10 Ferner sprach er zu ihnen: "In jedem Haus, wo ihr Eingang findet, da bleibt, bis ihr weiterwandert!
Wherever you enter a house, make it your home till you leave that place.
11 Wo man euch aber nicht aufnimmt und hören will, den Ort verlaßt und schüttelt den Staub von euern Füßen, zum Zeugnis wider sie!"
But wherever they will not receive you or listen to you, when you leave shake off the very dust from under your feet to bear witness concerning them."
12 So zogen sie aus und forderten zur Sinnesänderung auf.
So they set out, and preached in order that men might repent.
13 Sie trieben viele böse Geister aus; viele Kranke salbten sie mit Öl und heilten sie.
Many demons they expelled, and many invalids they anointed with oil and cured.
14 Auch der König Herodes hörte von Jesus, denn sein Name war in aller Mund. Einige sagten: "Johannes der Täufer ist von den Toten auferstanden; darum sind die Wunderkräfte in ihm wirksam."
King Herod heard of all this (for the name of Jesus had become widely known), and he kept saying, "John the Baptizer has come back to life, and that is why these miraculous Powers are working in him."
15 Andere meinten: "Er ist Elia", wieder andere: "Er ist ein Prophet, ähnlich den Propheten der alten Zeit."
Others asserted that He was Elijah. Others again said, "He is a Prophet, like one of the great Prophets."
16 Als aber Herodes davon hörte, sprach er: "Es ist Johannes, den ich habe enthaupten lassen; der ist wieder auferstanden!"
But when Herod heard of Him, he said, "The John, whom I beheaded, has come back to life."
17 Herodes hatte nämlich Johannes festnehmen lassen und in Ketten gefangengehalten wegen Herodias, der Frau seines Bruders Philippus. Die hatte Herodes geheiratet.
For Herod himself had sent and had had John arrested and had kept him in prison in chains, for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; because he had married her.
18 Aber Johannes hatte ihm gesagt: "Du darfst deines Bruders Weib nicht zur Frau haben."
For John had repeatedly told Herod, "You have no right to be living with your brother's wife."
19 Deshalb haßte ihn Herodias, und sie wollte ihn zu Tode bringen. Doch das gelang nicht.
Therefore Herodias hated him and wished to take his life, but could not;
20 Denn Herodes hatte Ehrfurcht vor Johannes. Er kannte ihn als einen gerechten und heiligen Mann. Darum nahm er ihn in Schutz. Und oft, wenn er ihn hörte, bekam er starke Gewissensbedenken; trotzdem hörte er ihn gern.
for Herod stood in awe of John, knowing him to be an upright and holy man, and he protected him. After listening to him he was in great perplexity, and yet he found a pleasure in listening.
21 Endlich kam für Herodias eine gelegene Stunde; Herodes gab an seinem Geburtstag seinen hohen Würdenträgern und ersten Hauptleuten und den Vornehmen von Galiläa ein Festgelage.
At length Herodias found her opportunity. Herod on his birthday gave a banquet to the nobles of his court and to the tribunes and the principal people in Galilee,
22 Da trat die Tochter der Herodias ein und tanzte. Damit gefiel sie Herodes und seinen Gästen. Und der König sprach zu dem Mädchen: "Erbitte von mir, was du willst; du sollst es haben!"
at which Herodias's own daughter came in and danced, and so charmed Herod and his guests that he said to her, "Ask me for anything you please, and I will give it to you."
23 Ja er schwur ihr: "Was du von mir verlangst, das will ich dir geben, und sei es die Hälfte meines Königreichs."
He even swore to her, "Whatever you ask me for I will give you, up to half my kingdom."
24 Da ging sie hinaus und fragte ihre Mutter: "Was soll ich mir fordern?" Die sagte: "Das Haupt Johannes des Täufers."
She at once went out and said to her mother: "What shall I ask for?" "The head of John the Baptizer," she replied.
25 Gleich ging sie in Eile wieder zum König hinein und bat ihn: "Laß mir sofort auf einer Schüssel das Haupt Johannes des Täufers geben!"
The girl immediately came in, in haste, to the King and made her request. "My desire is," she said, "that you will give me, here and now, on a dish, the head of John the Baptist."
26 Da ward der König aufs tiefste betrübt. Aber um seines Eides und seiner Gäste willen wollte er ihr die Bitte nicht versagen.
Then the King, though intensely sorry, yet for the sake of his oaths, and of his guests, would not break faith with her.
27 So sandte denn der König auf der Stelle einen seiner Leibwächter hin mit dem Befehl, des Johannes Haupt zu bringen. Der ging und enthauptete ihn im Gefängnis.
He at once sent a soldier of his guard with orders to bring John's head. So he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 Dann brachte er sein Haupt auf einer Schüssel und gab es dem Mädchen, und das Mädchen gab's ihrer Mutter.
and brought his head on a dish and gave it to the young girl, who gave it to her mother.
29 Als die Jünger des Johannes dies erfuhren, da kamen sie, holten seinen Leichnam und begruben ihn.
When John's disciples heard of it, they came and took away his body and laid it in a tomb.
30 Die Apostel berichteten Jesus bei ihrer Rückkehr alles, was sie getan und gelehrt hatten.
When the Apostles had re-assembled round Jesus, they reported to Him all they had done and all they had taught.
31 Da sprach er zu ihnen: "Kommt, laßt uns allein in eine menschenleere Gegend gehen: da ruht ein wenig!" Denn es war ein ständiges Kommen und Gehen, und sie fanden nicht einmal Zeit zum Essen.
Then He said to them, "Come away, all of you, to a quiet place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, so that they had no time even for meals.
32 Da fuhren sie allein in ihrem Boot an einen abgelegenen Ort.
Accordingly they sailed away in the boat to a solitary place apart.
33 Aber viele sahen sie abfahren und erkannten sie. So kam es, daß aus allen Städten dort, wohin das Boot steuerte, Leute zu Fuß zusammenliefen und noch vor ihnen den Ort erreichten.
But the people saw them going, and many knew them; and coming by land they ran together there from all the neighbouring towns, and arrived before them.
34 Als Jesus aus dem Boot stieg, sah er eine große Schar. Er empfand tiefes Mitleid bei dem Anblick der Leute, denn sie waren wie Schafe ohne Hirten. Und er begann, sie über vieles zu belehren.
So when Jesus landed, He saw a vast multitude; and His heart was moved with pity for them, because they were like sheep which have no shepherd, and He proceeded to teach them many things.
35 Als der Tag zur Neige ging, traten seine Jünger zu ihm und sprachen: "Die Gegend hier ist unbewohnt, und es ist schon spät.
By this time it was late; so His disciples came to Him, and said, "This is a lonely place, and the hour is now late:
36 Laß deshalb die Leute ziehen, damit sie in die umliegenden Gehöfte und Dörfer gehen und sich Lebensmittel kaufen."
send them away that they may go to the farms and villages near here and buy themselves something to eat."
37 Er aber antwortete: "Gebt ihr ihnen doch zu essen!" Da entgegneten sie ihm: "Sollen wir hingehen und für zweihundert Silberlinge Brot kaufen und ihnen zu essen geben?"
"Give them food yourselves," He replied. "Are we," they asked, "to go and buy two hundred shillings' worth of bread and give them food?"
38 Da fragte er sie: "Wieviel Brote habt ihr? Geht hin, seht nach!" Sie sahen nach und sagten: "Fünf und außerdem zwei Fische."
"How many loaves have you?" He inquired; "go and see." So they found out, and said, "Five; and a couple of fish."
39 Da befahl er ihnen, alle sollten sich gruppenweise auf dem grünen Rasen lagern.
So He directed them to make all sit down in companies on the green grass.
40 Und sie setzten sich in Scharen zu hundert und zu fünfzig nieder.
And they sat down in rows of hundreds and of fifties.
41 Nun nahm er die fünf Brote und die beiden Fische, sah auf zum Himmel und sprach den Lobpreis. Dann brach er die Brote und gab sie seinen Jüngern, damit sie sie den Leuten vorlegten. Auch die beiden Fische teilte er unter sie alle.
Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and lifting His eyes to Heaven He blessed the food. Then He broke the loaves into portions which He went on handing to the disciples to distribute; giving pieces also of the two fish to them all.
42 So aßen alle und wurden satt.
All ate and were fully satisfied.
43 Ja man las noch zwölf große Körbe voll Brocken auf, dazu auch Überbleibsel von den Fischen.
And they carried away broken portions enough to fill twelve baskets, besides pieces of the fish.
44 Die aber von den Broten gegessen hatten, deren Zahl betrug fünftausend Mann.
Those who ate the bread were 5,000 adult men.
45 Gleich darauf drängte er seine Jünger, in das Boot zu gehen und an das andere Ufer nach Bethsaida vorauszufahren, während er selbst das Volk entlassen wollte.
Immediately afterwards He made His disciples go on board the boat and cross over to Bethsaida, leaving Him behind to dismiss the crowd.
46 Als er die Leute verabschiedet hatte, ging er auf die Bergeshöhe, um dort zu beten.
He then bade the people farewell, and went away up the hill to pray.
47 Beim Eintritt der Dunkelheit war das Boot mitten auf dem See und er allein auf dem Land.
When evening was come, the boat was half way across the Lake, while he Himself was on shore alone.
48 Da sah er, wie sie große Mühe beim Rudern hatten, denn sie fuhren gegen den Wind. Um die vierte Nachtwache kam er, über den See hinwandelnd, auf sie zu,
But when He saw them distressed with rowing (for the wind was against them), towards morning He came towards them walking on the Lake, as if intending to pass them.
49 als wollte er an ihnen vorübergehen. Als sie ihn so auf dem See wandeln sahen, meinten sie, es wäre ein Gespenst, und schrien auf.
They saw Him walking on the water, and thinking that it was a spirit they cried out;
50 Denn alle sahen ihn und waren voll Entsetzen. Aber alsbald redete er sie an. Er sprach zu ihnen: "Seid getrost, ich bin's; fürchtet euch nicht!"
for they all saw Him and were terrified. He, however, immediately spoke to them. "There is no danger," He said; "it is I; be not alarmed."
51 Dann stieg er zu ihnen ins Boot: da legte sich der Wind. Darüber gerieten sie vor Staunen ganz außer sich.
Then He went up to them on board the boat, and the wind lulled; and they were beside themselves with silent amazement.
52 Denn durch die wunderbare Speisung mit den Broten hatten sie nichts gelernt: ihr Herz war stumpf und unempfänglich geblieben.
For they had not learned the lesson taught by the loaves, but their minds were dull.
53 Nach ihrer Überfahrt landeten sie in Genezaret und gingen dort vor Anker.
Having crossed over they drew to land in Gennesaret and came to anchor.
54 Als sie das Boot verließen, erkannten ihn die Leute sogleich:
But no sooner had they gone ashore than the people immediately recognized Him.
55 sie eilten umher in der ganzen Gegend und trugen die Kranken auf ihren Betten hierhin und dorthin, wo er nach dem Gerücht sich aufhielt.
Then they scoured the whole district, and began to bring Him the sick on their mats wherever they heard He was.
56 In den Dörfern, Städten und Gehöften, wohin er kam, setzte man die Kranken auf die freien Plätze und bat ihn, daß sie nur die Quaste seines Mantels berühren dürften. Und alle, die sie berührten, wurden gesund.
And enter wherever He might--village or town or hamlet--they laid their sick in the open places, and entreated Him to let them touch were it but the tassel of His robe; and all, whoever touched Him, were restored to health.
