Johannes 16

1 So rede ich zu euch, damit ihr später keinen Anstoß nehmt.

These things I have spoken to you that not you may fall away.

2 Man wird euch in den Bann tun. Ja die Stunde kommt, wo jeder, der euch tötet, damit Gott ein Opfer darzubringen glaubt.

Out of the synagogues they will put you; but is coming an hour that everyone who having killed you may think [it is] a service to offer to God.

3 So wird man gegen euch verfahren, weil man nicht den Vater kennt noch mich.

And these things they will do (to you *k*) because not they know the Father nor Me myself.

4 Aber ich rede so zu euch, damit, wenn nun die Stunde kommt, wo sich's erfüllt, ihr daran denkt, daß ich es euch gesagt. Hierüber habe ich anfangs nicht zu euch gesprochen, weil ich ja bei euch war.

But these things I have said to you, so that when may have come the hour (of them, *no*) you may remember those [things] that I myself said to you. These things now to you from [the] beginning not I said, because with you I was.

5 Nun aber gehe ich zu dem, der mich gesandt hat, und keiner von euch fragt mich: 'Wohin gehst du?'

Now however I go to the [One] having sent Me, and none of you asks Me; Where are You going?

6 Doch weil ich so zu euch geredet habe, ist euer Herz voll Traurigkeit.

But because these things I have said to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

7 Aber es ist volle Wahrheit, wenn ich euch jetzt sage: es dient zu euerm Heil, daß ich weggehe. Denn gehe ich nicht weg, so kommt der Helfer nicht zu euch. Wenn ich aber gehe, will ich ihn zu euch senden.

But I myself the truth say to you; it is profitable for you that I myself may go away; only for (I myself *o*) unless I shall go away, the Helper (not will come *NK(o)*) to you; if however I shall go, I will send Him to you.

8 Und wenn er kommt, wird er der Welt Klarheit geben, wie sich's verhält mit Sünde, mit Gerechtigkeit und mit Gericht.

And having come He will convict the world concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment.

9 Die Sünde kommt ans Licht, weil sie nicht an mich glauben;

concerning sin indeed, because not do they believe in Me myself;

10 die Gerechtigkeit, weil ich zu meinem Vater gehe und ihr mich dann nicht länger seht;

concerning righteousness however, because to the Father (of mine *k*) I go away, and no longer no longer you behold Me;

11 das Gericht, weil der Beherrscher dieser Welt verurteilt ist.

concerning now judgment, because the ruler of the world this has been judged.

12 Ich hätte euch noch viel zu sagen; doch jetzt könnt ihr's nicht tragen.

Yet many things I have to you to say but not you are able to bear them now.

13 Wenn aber er, der Geist der Wahrheit, kommt, so wird er euch im Bereich der vollen Wahrheit Führer sein. Denn er wird nicht aus eigener Vollmacht reden; sondern was er hört, das wird er reden, und das Zukünftige wird er euch verkünden.

When however may come He, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you (into the truth all. *N(k)O*) not for He will speak from Himself, but as much as (maybe *k*) (He will hear *N(k)(o)*) He will speak and the [things] coming He will declare to you.

14 Er wird mich verherrlichen; denn von dem Meinen wird er nehmen und es euch verkünden.

He Me myself will glorify, for from that which [is] Mine He will take and will disclose to you.

15 Alles, was der Vater hat, ist mein. Darum sage ich: von dem Meinen nimmt er und wird's euch verkünden.

All things as much as has the Father Mine are; because of this I said that from that which [is] Mine (He receives *N(k)O*) and will disclose to you.

16 Noch eine kleine Weile, und ihr schaut mich nicht mehr; dann nochmals eine kleine Weile, und ihr sollt mich wiedersehen."

A little [while] and (no longer no longer *N(K)O*) you do behold Me, and again a little [while] and you will behold Me (that I myself I am going to Father. *K*)

17 Da sprachen einige seiner Jünger zueinander: "Was mag er damit meinen, wenn er zu uns sagt: 'Noch eine kleine Weile, und ihr schaut mich nicht; dann nochmals eine kleine Weile, und ihr sollt mich wiedersehen', und weiter: 'Ich gehe hin zum Vater?'"

Said therefore [some] of the disciples of him to one another; What is this that He says to us; A little [while] and not you do behold Me, and again a little [while] and you will behold Me’? and Because (I myself *k*) I am going to the Father’?

18 "Was meint er nur", so sprachen sie, "mit diesem Ausdruck: 'eine kleine Weile'? Wir verstehen seine Worte nicht."

They were saying therefore; what is This that He says a little [while]’? Not we do know what He is saying.

19 Jesus merkte, daß sie ihn fragen wollten, und er sprach zu ihnen: "Redet ihr darüber miteinander, daß ich gesagt: 'Noch eine kleine Weile, und ihr schaut mich nicht; dann nochmals eine kleine Weile, und ihr sollt mich wiedersehen?'

Knew (therefore *K*) Jesus that they were desiring Him to ask, and He said to them; Concerning this do you inquire among one another that I said; A little [while] and not you do behold Me, and again a little [while] and you will behold Me’?

20 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ihr werdet weinen und klagen, die Welt aber wird sich freuen. Ihr werdet traurig sein, doch eure Traurigkeit soll sich in Freude wandeln.

Amen Amen I say to you that you will weep and will lament you yourselves, but the world will rejoice; You yourselves (now *k*) will be grieved, but the grief of you to joy will turn.

21 Ist eine Frau in Kindesnöten, so hat sie Traurigkeit, denn ihre schwere Stunde ist gekommen. Hat sie aber das Kind geboren, so denkt sie nicht mehr an die Schmerzen, die sie durchgemacht: so groß ist ihre Freude, daß ein Mensch zur Welt gekommen ist.

The woman when she may be giving birth pain has, because has come the hour of her; when however she may bring forth the child, no longer no longer she remembers the tribulation on account of the joy that has been born a man into the world.

22 So sollt auch ihr jetzt Trauer haben. Doch ich will euch wiedersehen; dann sollen eure Herzen voller Freude sein, und eure Freude soll euch niemand rauben.

Also you yourselves therefore now indeed grief have, again however I will see you and will rejoice your heart, and the joy of you no [one] (do take *NK(o)*) from you,

23 An jenem Tag werdet ihr mich nach nichts mehr fragen. Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr den Vater um etwas bittet, so wird er's euch in meinem Namen geben.

And in that [very] day of Me myself not you will ask no [thing]. Amen Amen I say to you; (that *k*) maybe (whatever *N(k)O*) you may ask the Father in the name of Me He will give to you.

24 Bisher habt ihr noch nichts in meinem Namen erbeten. Bittet, und ihr sollt empfangen, damit eure Freude vollkommen sei!

Until now not you have asked no [thing] in the name of Me; do ask and you will receive, that the joy of you may be filled.

25 So rede ich zu euch in Bildern. Doch die Stunde kommt, wo ich nicht mehr in Bildern zu euch rede, sondern euch klar und deutlich von dem Vater Kunde gebe.

These things in allegories I have spoken to you; (but *K*) is coming an hour when no longer no longer in allegories I will speak to you but plainly concerning the Father (I will announce *N(k)O*) to you.

26 An jenem Tag werdet ihr in meinem Namen bitten. Ich sage euch nicht, daß ich den Vater für euch bitten werde.

In that [very] day in the name of Me you will ask; and not I say to you that I myself will implore the Father for you;

27 Denn der Vater hat euch aus eigenem Antrieb lieb, weil ihr mich lieb gehabt und geglaubt habt, daß ich von Gott ausgegangen bin.

Himself for the Father loves you, because you yourselves Me myself have loved and have believed that I myself from (God *NK(O)*) came forth.

28 Ich bin vom Vater ausgegangen und in die Welt gekommen. Jetzt verlasse ich die Welt und gehe hin zum Vater."

I came forth (from with *NK(o)*) the Father and have come into the world; again I leave the world and go to the Father.

29 Da sprachen seine Jünger: "Ja, nun redest du klar und deutlich und sprichst nicht mehr in Bildern.

Say (to him *k*) the disciples of Him; Behold now (in *no*) openness You speak and allegory no [thing] speak.

30 Nun ist uns sicher, daß du alles weißt und nicht erst gefragt zu werden brauchst. Darum glauben wir, daß du von Gott ausgegangen bist."

Now we know that You know all things and not need have that anyone You may ask. In this we believe that from God You came forth.

31 Jesus antwortete ihnen: "So? Ihr glaubt nun?

Answered to them (*k*) Jesus; Now do you believe?

32 Seht, es kommt die Stunde, ja sie ist schon da, wo ihr euch zerstreut, daß jeder seines Weges geht und ihr mich allein laßt. Aber ich bin nicht allein; denn der Vater ist bei mir.

Behold is coming an hour and (now *k*) has come when you may be scattered each to [his] own and I and I alone you may leave; yet not I am alone, for the Father with Me is.

33 Ich habe alles dies zu euch geredet, damit ihr in mir Frieden habt. In der Welt habt ihr Trübsal; doch seid getrost: ich habe die Welt überwunden!"

These things I have spoken to you so that in Me myself peace you may have. In the world tribulation you have; But take courage! I myself have overcome the world.
