Apostelgeschichte 20
1 Als sich die Unruhe gelegt hatte, rief Paulus die Jünger zusammen; er hielt eine Ansprache an sie, sagte ihnen Lebewohl und zog aus nach Mazedonien. Anf. Sommer 54 n. Chr.
And after the ceasing of the tumult, Paul having called near the disciples, and having embraced [them], went forth to go on to Macedonia;
2 Er reiste durch dieses Land und ermunterte die Jünger mit reichem Zuspruch. Dann begab er sich nach Griechenland Dezbr. 54 n. Chr.
and having gone through those parts, and having exhorted them with many words, he came to Greece;
3 und hielt sich dort drei Monate auf. Weil aber die Juden, als er sich nach Syrien einschiffen wollte, einen Anschlag auf sein Leben vorhatten, beschloß er, den Rückweg durch Mazedonien zu nehmen.
having made also three months' [stay] — a counsel of the Jews having been against him — being about to set forth to Syria, there came [to him] a resolution of returning through Macedonia.
4 Bis Asien begleiteten ihn (durch Mazedonien) Sopater, der Sohn des Pyrrhus, aus Beröa, Aristarchus und Sekundus aus Thessalonich, Gajus aus Derbe und Timotheus, sowie Tychikus und Trophimus aus Asien.
And there were accompanying him unto Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of Asiatics Tychicus and Trophimus;
5 Die beiden letzten kamen erst später hinzu und erwarteten uns in Troas.
these, having gone before, did remain for us in Troas,
6 Wir anderen fuhren nach den Tagen der ungesäuerten Brote von Philippi ab und trafen sie nach einer fünftägigen Fahrt in Troas, wo wir uns sieben Tage aufhielten. Gleich nach Ostern 55 n. Chr.
and we sailed, after the days of the unleavened food, from Philippi, and came unto them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.
7 Am ersten Wochentag kamen wir zusammen, um das Brot zu brechen. Vorher hielt Paulus, der am nächsten Morgen abreisen wollte, eine Ansprache an die Jünger und dehnte seine Rede bis Mitternacht aus.
And on the first of the week, the disciples having been gathered together to break bread, Paul was discoursing to them, about to depart on the morrow, he was also continuing the discourse till midnight,

and there were many lamps in the upper chamber where they were gathered together,
9 Ein Jüngling mit Namen Eutychus saß auf der Fensterbank und fiel während der langen Predigt des Paulus in tiefen Schlaf. Dabei verlor er das Gleichgewicht und stürzte aus dem dritten Stockwerk in die Tiefe. Als man ihn aufhob, hielt man ihn für tot.
and there was sitting a certain youth, by name Eutychus, upon the window — being borne down by a deep sleep, Paul discoursing long — he having sunk down from the sleep, fell down from the third story, and was lifted up dead.
10 Paulus eilte hinab, beugte sich über ihn, nahm ihn in seine Arme und sprach: "Seid unbesorgt, seine Seele ist noch in ihm."
And Paul, having gone down, fell upon him, and having embraced [him], said, 'Make no tumult, for his life is in him;'
11 Dann ging er wieder hinauf und brach das Brot (bei dem Mahl des Herrn). Hierauf nahm er einen Imbiß und unterhielt sich noch lange mit den Brüdern bis zur Morgendämmerung. Da nahm er Abschied.
and having come up, and having broken bread, and having tasted, for a long time also having talked — till daylight, so he went forth,
12 Den Jüngling aber brachte man jetzt lebendig nach Hause. Das war für alle ein großer Trost.
and they brought up the lad alive, and were comforted in no ordinary measure.
13 Wir anderen waren schon vorher auf das Schiff gegangen und fuhren nun ab nach Assus, wo wir auch Paulus an Bord nehmen sollten; denn so hatte er es bestimmt, weil er selbst den Weg zu Fuß machen wollte.
And we having gone before unto the ship, did sail to Assos, thence intending to take in Paul, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go on foot;
14 Als er uns in Assus traf, nahmen wir ihn an Bord und fuhren nach Mitylene.
and when he met with us at Assos, having taken him up, we came to Mitylene,
15 Von da ging die Reise weiter. Am folgenden Tag ankerten wir Chios gegenüber, tags darauf erreichten wir Samos, und am nächsten Tag kamen wir nach Milet.
and thence having sailed, on the morrow we came over-against Chios, and the next day we arrived at Samos, and having remained in Trogyllium, on the following day we came to Miletus,
16 Paulus hatte sich nämlich entschlossen, an Ephesus vorbeizufahren, um keine Zeit in Asien zu verlieren. Denn er eilte, um wo möglich am Pfingsttag in Jerusalem zu sein.
for Paul decided to sail past Ephesus, that there may not be to him a loss of time in Asia, for he hasted, if it were possible for him, on the day of the Pentecost to be at Jerusalem.
17 Von Milet sandte er Botschaft nach Ephesus und berief die Ältesten der dortigen Gemeinde zu sich.
And from Miletus, having sent to Ephesus, he called for the elders of the assembly,
18 Als sie bei ihm versammelt waren, sprach er zu ihnen: "Ihr wißt, wie ich seit dem ersten Tag, wo ich nach Asien gekommen bin, und während meines ganzen Aufenthaltes daselbst unter euch gelebt habe:
and when they were come unto him, he said to them, 'Ye — ye know from the first day in which I came to Asia, how, with you at all times I was;
19 Ich habe dem Herrn gedient in aller Demut, ja unter Tränen und Anfechtungen, die mir durch die Anschläge der Juden widerfahren sind.
serving the Lord with all humility, and many tears, and temptations, that befell me in the counsels of the Jews against [me];
20 Nichts von dem, was euch nützlich sein konnte, habe ich verschwiegen, wenn ich euch öffentlich und einzeln in den Häusern predigte und euch unterwies.
how nothing I did keep back of what things are profitable, not to declare to you, and to teach you publicly, and in every house,
21 Juden und Heiden habe ich dringend ermahnt, sich zu Gott zu bekehren und an unseren Herrn Jesus Christus zu glauben.
testifying fully both to Jews and Greeks, toward God reformation, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 Nun bin ich, in meinem Geist dazu getrieben, auf dem Weg nach Jerusalem. Ich weiß nicht, was mir dort begegnen wird.
'And now, lo, I — bound in the Spirit — go on to Jerusalem, the things that shall befall me in it not knowing,
23 Nur soviel ist gewiß: der Heilige Geist weist mich in allen Städten eindringlich darauf hin, daß Gefangenschaft und Leiden mich erwarten.
save that the Holy Spirit in every city doth testify fully, saying, that for me bonds and tribulations remain;
24 Doch selbst an meinem Leben liegt mir nichts, wenn ich nur meinen Lauf (mit Freuden) vollenden und jenen Dienst zum Abschluß bringen kann, den ich empfangen habe von dem Herrn Jesus: die Heilsbotschaft der Gnade Gottes zu bezeugen.
but I make account of none of these, neither do I count my life precious to myself, so that I finish my course with joy, and the ministration that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify fully the good news of the grace of God.
25 Und nun, ich weiß: ihr alle, bei denen ich mit der Verkündigung des Königreichs geweilt, ihr sollt mein Angesicht nicht länger sehen.
'And now, lo, I have known that no more shall ye see my face, — ye all among whom I did go preaching the reign of God;
26 Darum erkläre ich euch heute feierlich: Ich bin ganz rein von euer aller Blut.
wherefore I take you to witness this day, that I [am] clear from the blood of all,
27 Denn ich habe euch in meiner Predigt nichts verschwiegen, sondern euch den Ratschluß Gottes in seinem ganzen Umfang kundgemacht.
for I did not keep back from declaring to you all the counsel of God.
28 So habt denn acht auf euch und auf die ganze Herde, über die euch der Heilige Geist als Bischöfe gesetzt hat, daß ihr des Herrn Kirche weidet, die er sich durch sein eigen Blut erworben hat!
'Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the assembly of God that He acquired through His own blood,
29 (Denn) ich weiß: nach meinem Weggang werden reißende Wölfe unter euch einbrechen, die die Herde nicht verschonen.
for I have known this, that there shall enter in, after my departing, grievous wolves unto you, not sparing the flock,
30 Ja, aus eurer eigenen Mitte werden Männer auftreten, die verkehrte Dinge lehren, um die Jünger für sich zu gewinnen.
and of your own selves there shall arise men, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
31 Darum wacht und denkt daran, daß ich drei Jahre Tag und Nacht nicht abgelassen habe, jeden einzelnen von euch unter Tränen zu vermahnen!
'Therefore, watch, remembering that three years, night and day, I did not cease with tears warning each one;
32 Und nun befehle ich euch Gott und dem Wort seiner Gnade: er vermag euch zu erbauen und euch das Erbteil zu verleihen zugleich mit allen, die geheiligt sind.
and now, I commend you, brethren, to God, and to the word of His grace, that is able to build up, and to give you an inheritance among all those sanctified.
33 Silber, Gold und Kleider habe ich mir von niemand geben lassen.
'The silver or gold or garments of no one did I covet;
34 Ihr wißt ja selbst, daß diese meine Hände für meinen und meiner Mitarbeiter Unterhalt gesorgt haben.
and ye yourselves know that to my necessities, and to those who were with me, minister did these hands;
35 Mein Beispiel hat euch stets gezeigt, wie man durch solche Arbeit im Schweiß seines Angesichts auch noch die Mittel haben muß, die Hilfsbedürftigen zu unterstützen, eingedenk der Worte des Herrn Jesus, der ja selbst gesagt hat: 'Geben ist beglückender als Nehmen.'"
all things I did shew you, that, thus labouring, it behoveth [us] to partake with the ailing, to be mindful also of the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.'
36 Nach diesen Worten kniete er mit ihnen allen zum Gebet nieder.
And these things having said, having bowed his knees, with them all, he did pray,
37 Unter lautem Weinen fielen alle Paulus um den Hals und küßten ihn.
and there came a great weeping to all, and having fallen upon the neck of Paul, they were kissing him,
38 Am meisten betrübte sie sein Wort, sie würden sein Angesicht nicht weiter sehen. Dann brachten sie ihn auf das Schiff.
sorrowing most of all for the word that he had said — that they are about no more to see his face; and they were accompanying him to the ship.
