1 Thessalonicher 4
1 Ihr habt schon, liebe Brüder, von uns gehört, wie ihr wandeln müßt, um Gott zu gefallen. Und ihr seid auch auf dem rechten Weg. Doch nun bitten und ermahnen wir euch in dem Namen des Herrn Jesus: Schreitet ihr weiter vorwärts!
Finally then, my brothers, I continue to beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as you learned of me how to walk so as to please God - and you are actually doing so - that you abound in it yet more and more.
2 Ihr wißt ja, welche Gebote wir euch im Auftrag des Herrn Jesus gegeben haben.
For you know what charges I laid upon you through the Lord Jesus.
3 Gott will, ihr sollt ein heiliges Leben führen und mit der Unzucht nichts zu schaffen haben.
For this is God’s will, even your sanctification; that you should abstain from sexual vice.
4 Darum sehe jeder von euch zu, ein Eheweib heimzuführen, um mit ihr in Heiligkeit und Ehrbarkeit zusammenzuleben.
That each one should learn how to take a wife in purity and honor.
5 Niemand lasse sich nach Art der Heiden, die Gott nicht kennen, durch sinnliche Lust dazu verführen,
Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles who know not God.
6 in die ehelichen Rechte seines Bruders überzugreifen und ihn durch Ehebruch zu betrügen. Alle solche Sünden straft der Herr, wie wir euch schon früher gesagt und bezeugt haben.
That no man overreach or take advantage of his brother in such matters, because "the Lord takes vengeance" in all these things, as also I repeatedly forewarned you and testified to you.
7 Denn Gott hat uns nicht dazu berufen, ein unreines, sondern ein heiliges Leben zu führen.
For God has not called us for uncleanness, but in holiness.
8 Wer also (diese Mahnungen) mißachtet, der mißachtet nicht einen Menschen, sondern Gott, der euch auch seinen Heiligen Geist gegeben hat.
So that he who rejects this is not rejecting man, but the God who gave you his Holy Spirit.
9 Von der Bruderliebe braucht man euch nicht erst zu schreiben. Denn ihr habt selbst von Gott gelernt, einander zu lieben.
It is not needed that I should write to you about brotherly love; for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.
10 Und ihr beweist das auch an allen Brüdern in ganz Mazedonien. Doch ermahnen wir euch, Brüder: Betätigt diese Liebe immer mehr!
As indeed you do love all the brothers in Macedonia. But I exhort you, brothers, to abound in this yet more.
11 Seht es auch als Ehrensache an, still und friedlich eure Geschäfte zu besorgen und euch mit eurer Hände Arbeit euern Unterhalt zu verdienen. Das haben wir euch schon früher eingeschärft.
Also, that you endeavor to live quietly and to mind your own business, and to work with your hands (as I charged you).
12 Ihr müßt denen, die draußen sind, durch euern Wandel ein gutes Vorbild geben und dürft nicht auf fremde Unterstützung angewiesen sein.
So that your conduct may be seemly toward those that are without, and that you may not need help from any man.
13 Über die Entschlafenen wollen wir euch, liebe Brüder, nicht im ungewissen lassen, damit ihr nicht trauert wie die anderen, die keine Hoffnung haben.
But I would not have you ignorant, brothers, about those who are falling asleep. You must not sorrow like other men, who have no hope.
14 Glauben wir, daß Jesus gestorben und auferstanden ist, so glauben wir auch, daß Gott durch Jesus die Entschlafenen wiederbringen wird, auf daß sie mit ihm vereinigt werden.
For if we really believe that Jesus died and rose again, so even so will God through Jesus bring with him those also who have fallen asleep.
15 Denn dies tun wir euch kund, gestützt auf ein Wort des Herrn: Wir, die Lebenden, die bis zur Wiederkunft des Herrn übrigbleiben, werden den Entschlafenen nicht zuvorkommen.
For this I tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are living, who survive unto the coming of the Lord, will in no wise precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 Sobald der Befehlsruf ergeht, die Erzengelstimme erschallt und Gottes Posaune ertönt, wird der Herr selbst vom Himmel herabkommen, und dann ist das erste Ereignis, daß die im Glauben an Christus Gestorbenen auferstehen.
For the Lord himself with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God will descend from heaven. Then the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Darauf werden wir, die Lebenden, die übrigbleiben, zugleich mit ihnen auf Wolken in die Luft entrückt, um dort dem Herrn zu begegnen, und so werden wir allezeit mit dem Herrn vereinigt sein.
And afterwards we who are alive, who remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Tröstet einander mit diesen Worten.
So comfort one another with these words.
