1 Thessalonicher 1

1 Paulus, Silvanus und Timotheus begrüßen die Gemeinde in Thessalonich, die mit Gott dem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus in Gemeinschaft steht. Gnade sei mit euch und Friede!

Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy: to the church of the Thessalonians, in God the Father, and in the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Wir danken Gott allezeit für euch alle, indem wir euer in unseren Gebeten gedenken.

Grace be to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for you all; making a remembrance of you in our prayers without ceasing,

3 Denn fort und fort erinnern wir uns vor dem Angesicht unseres Gottes und Vaters an eure Arbeit im Glauben, eure Mühe in der (brüderlichen) Liebe und eure Ausdauer in der Hoffnung (auf das Kommen) unseres Herrn Jesus Christus.

Being mindful of the work of your faith, and labour, and charity, and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father:

4 Wir wissen ja, von Gott geliebte Brüder, daß ihr auserwählt seid.

Knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election:

5 Denn wir haben die Heilsbotschaft nicht nur mit Worten bei euch verkündigt, sondern auch in Kraft und im Heiligen Geist und mit großer Glaubenszuversicht. Es ist euch wohlbekannt, wie wir zu euerm Besten unter euch gewirkt haben.

For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.

6 Und ihr seid uns und dem Herrn nachgefolgt. Denn trotz vieler Trübsal habt ihr mit jener Freude, die der Heilige Geist wirkt, das Wort aufgenommen,

And you became followers of us, and of the Lord; receiving the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

7 so daß ihr für alle Gläubigen in Mazedonien und Achaja ein Vorbild geworden seid.

So that you were made a pattern to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

8 Denn von euch ist das Wort des Herrn (wie ein Posaunenhall) ausgegangen, und nicht nur in Mazedonien und Achaja, sondern überall ist euer Glaube an Gott bekannt geworden. Darum brauchen wir auch (zu anderen) nicht weiter darüber zu reden.

For from you was spread abroad the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia, and in Achaia, but also in every place, your faith which is towards God, is gone forth, so that we need not to speak any thing.

9 Denn alle (die von euch sprechen) erzählen aus freien Stücken, welche (gastliche) Aufnahme wir bei euch gefunden, und wie ihr euch von den Abgöttern zu Gott bekehrt habt, um ihm, dem lebendigen, wahren Gott, zu dienen

For they themselves relate of us, what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God.

10 und seinen Sohn, den er von den Toten auferweckt hat, vom Himmel zu erwarten — Jesus, der uns vor dem kommenden Zorngericht bewahrt.

And to wait for his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead, ) Jesus, who hath delivered us from the wrath to come.
