1 Korinther 1
1 Paulus, nach Gottes Willen zum Apostel Christi Jesu berufen, und der Bruder Sosthenes
Paul, called to be an Apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God--and our brother Sosthenes:
2 begrüßen die Gemeinde Gottes in Korinth, deren Glieder als berufene Heilige in der Lebensgemeinschaft mit Christus Jesus auch geheiligt sind, und zwar zugleich mit allen, die überall (auf Erden) den Namen Jesu Christi, der ihr und unser Herr ist, (im Gebet) anrufen.
To the Church of God in Corinth, men and women consecrated in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all in every place who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ-- their Lord as well as ours.
3 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!
May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Ich danke meinem Gott allezeit euretwegen für die Gnade Gottes, die euch in Christus Jesus zuteil geworden ist.
I thank my God continually on your behalf for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus--
5 In der Lebensgemeinschaft mit ihm seid ihr mit aller Art Belehrung und Erkenntnis in jeder Hinsicht reichlich ausgestattet worden.
that you have been so richly blessed in Him, with readiness of speech and fulness of knowledge.
6 Denn das Zeugnis von Christus hat unter euch tief Wurzeln geschlagen.
Thus my testimony as to the Christ has been confirmed in your experience,
7 Darum steht ihr auch (hinter den anderen Gemeinden) in keiner Gnadengabe zurück, während ihr voll Sehnsucht auf die Offenbarung unseres Herrn Jesus Christus wartet.
so that there is no gift of God in which you consciously come short while patiently waiting for the reappearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
8 Der wird euch auch bis ans Ende stärken, damit ihr an dem Tag unseres Herrn Jesus Christus unsträflich erfunden werden könnt.
who will also keep you stedfast to the very End, so that you will be free from reproach on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Denn Gott ist treu, durch den ihr zur Gemeinschaft mit seinem Sohn Jesus Christus, unserem Herrn, berufen worden seid.
God is ever true to His promises, and it was by Him that you were, one and all, called into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.
10 Ich ermahne euch, Brüder, bei dem Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus: Seid einig untereinander! Duldet keine Spaltungen unter euch, sondern steht in derselben Gesinnung und in derselben Überzeugung in festgefügter Einheit da!
Now I entreat you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to cultivate a spirit of harmony--all of you--and that there be no divisions among you, but rather a perfect union through your having one mind and one judgement.
11 Von den Leuten in Chloe habe ich über euch erfahren, meine Brüder, daß es Streitigkeiten unter euch gibt.
For I have been distinctly informed, my brethren, about you by Chloe's people, that there are dissensions among you.
12 Ich will mich noch deutlicher ausdrücken. Der eine von euch sagt: "Ich bin des Paulus Jünger", der andere: "Ich bin des Apollos Jünger", ein dritter: "Ich bin des Kephas Jünger", ein vierter: "Ich bin Christi Jünger."
What I mean is that each of you is a partisan. One man says "I belong to Paul;" another "I belong to Apollos;" a third "I belong to Peter;" a fourth "I belong to Christ."
13 Ist Christus denn zerteilt? Ist etwa Paulus für euch gekreuzigt, oder seid ihr auf des Paulus Namen getauft worden?
Is the Christ in fragments? Is it Paul who was crucified on your behalf? Or were you baptized to be Paul's adherents?
14 Ich danke Gott, daß ich weiter keinen von euch getauft habe als Krispus und Gajus.
I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius--
15 So kann doch niemand behaupten, ihr wäret auf meinen Namen getauft worden.
for fear people should say that you were baptized to be my adherents.
16 Doch halt, ich habe ja auch die Hausgenossen des Stephanus getauft. Sonst wüßte ich nicht, daß ich noch jemand getauft hätte.
I did, however, baptize Stephanas' household also: but I do not think that I baptized any one else.
17 Denn Christus hat mich nicht gesandt, um zu taufen, sondern um die Frohe Botschaft zu verkünden, aber nicht in der prunkvollen Rede der Weltweisen, damit Christi Kreuz nicht seine Kraft verliere.
Christ did not send me to baptize, but to proclaim the Good News; and not in merely wise words--lest the Cross of Christ should be deprived of its power.
18 Das Wort vom Kreuz ist freilich denen, die verlorengehen, Torheit, uns aber, die zum Heil gelangen, ist es eine Gotteskraft.
For the Message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are on the way to perdition, but it is the power of God to those whom He is saving.
19 Denn es steht geschrieben: "Vernichten will ich die Weisheit der Weisen, die Klugheit der Klugen zuschanden machen."
For so it stands written, "I will exhibit the nothingness of the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought."
20 Wo (sagt mir) bleiben die Weisen: die Schriftgelehrten und die Redekünstler, die vor den Leuten glänzen? Hat nicht Gott die Weltweisheit als Torheit kundgemacht? (aiōn g165)
Where is your wise man? Where your expounder of the Law? Where your investigator of the questions of this present age? Has not God shown the world's wisdom to be utter foolishness? (aiōn g165)
21 Da, wo Gott seine Weisheit kundtat, hat die Welt Gott nicht erkannt mit ihrer Weisheit. Darum hat es Gott gefallen, durch eine Predigt, die der Welt als Torheit gilt, zum Heil zu führen alle, die ihr glauben.
For after the world by its wisdom--as God in His wisdom had ordained--had failed to gain the knowledge of God, God was pleased, by the apparent foolishness of the Message which we preach, to save those who accepted it.
22 Die Juden fordern zwar noch weiter Wunderzeichen, die Griechen trachten nach wie vor nach Weisheit.
Seeing that Jews demand miracles, and Greeks go in search of wisdom,
23 Wir aber sind Herolde Christi, des Gekreuzigten. Das ist ein Ärgernis den Juden, den Heiden eine Torheit.
while we proclaim a Christ who has been crucified--to the Jews a stumbling-block, to Gentiles foolishness,
24 Für alle aber, die berufen sind aus Juden und aus Griechen, beweist sich Christus, den wir predigen, als Gottes Kraft und Gottes Weisheit.
but to those who have received the Call, whether Jews or Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Denn Gottes Taten, die den Menschen töricht scheinen, sind weiser als die Menschen. Und Gottes Taten, die den Menschen schwach erscheinen, sind stärker als die Menschen.
Because that which the world deems foolish in God is wiser than men's wisdom, and that which it deems feeble in God is mightier than men's might.
26 Seht doch einmal: wer ist bei euch zum Heil berufen, Brüder? Da finden sich nicht viele Einflußreiche, nicht viele Edelgeborene.
For consider, brethren, God's call to you. Not many who are wise with merely human wisdom, not many of position and influence, not many of noble birth have been called.
27 Vielmehr, was der Welt als töricht gilt, das hat sich Gott erwählt, damit er die Weisen beschäme. Und was der Welt als schwach gilt, das hat sich Gott erwählt, damit er das Starke beschäme.
But God has chosen the things which the world regards as foolish, in order to put its wise men to shame; and God has chosen the things which the world regards as destitute of influence, in order to put its powerful things to shame;
28 Und was der Welt als unedel gilt und was sie verachtet, ja was nichts für sie ist, das hat sich Gott erwählt, damit er vernichte, was etwas gilt.
and the things which the world regards as base, and those which it sets utterly at nought--things that have no existence--God has chosen in order to reduce to nothing things that do exist;
29 Denn kein Mensch soll sich rühmen vor Gott.
to prevent any mortal man from boasting in the presence of God.
30 Ihm allein verdankt ihr's auch, daß ihr in Christi Jesu Gemeinschaft steht. Den hat uns Gott geschenkt als Weisheit, als Gerechtigkeit, Heiligung und Erlösung.
But you--and it is all God's doing--are in Christ Jesus: He has become for us a wisdom which is from God, consisting of righteousness and sanctification and deliverance;
31 So geht das Schriftwort in Erfüllung: "Wer sich rühmt, der rühme sich des Herrn!"
in order that it may be as Scripture says, "He who boasts--let his boast be in the Lord."
