< Maatosa 22 >
1 Qassekka Yesusay hara lemuso hizgidi yotidees.
Again Jesus spoke to them in figurative language.
2 Salo kawotethi ba nas sarge gigisida issi kawo milataysu.
"The Kingdom of the Heavens," He said, "may be compared to a king who celebrated the marriage of his son,
3 Kawoykka digisas yotidayta xeyganas ba ashikarata yedidees, xegetidaytikka nu bokko gida.
and sent his servants to call the invited guests to the wedding, but they were unwilling to come.
4 Qassekka hara ashikarata kasse istas yotidayta hekko ta sanga boratanne handaida mehista shukada digisa gigisadis, wurikka gigetida gish sargeso hayitte gidi yotite.
"Again he sent other servants with a message to those who were invited. "'My breakfast is now ready," he said, 'my bullocks and fat cattle are killed, and every preparation is made: come to the wedding.'
5 Xeygetidayti gidikko iza xeysa wudan yegonta agidi issay ba goshaso issay ba zal7eso bidees.
"They however gave no heed, but went, one to his home in the country, another to his business;
6 Hankko atidayti ashikarat oykidi daro waysidi wodhida.
and the rest seized the king's servants, maltreated them, and murdered them.
7 Kawoykka hanqetidi olizayta yedidi ashikara wodhidayta dhaysidees, issta katama xugidees.
So the king's anger was stirred, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burnt their city.
8 Be ashkaratakka “Sargeza digisay gigidees, gido attin sargezaso xeygetidayti sarges besizayta gidibeytena.
Then he said to his servants, "'The wedding banquet is ready, but those who were invited were unworthy of it.
9 Gede ogge bolla kezidi inte demida assi wursi ha sargge digisas xeygitte.
Go out therefore to the crossroads, and everybody you meet invite to the wedding.'
10 Ashkaratikka ogge bolla kezidi ba demidayta lo7otakka itatakka wurssi shishidi sargeza keth imath kunthida.
"So they went out into the roads and gathered together all they could find, both bad and good, and the banqueting hall was filled with guests.
11 Kawoykka xeygetida imatha beyanas keth geliza wode sarge mayo mayonta ura demidees.
"Now the king came in to see the guests; and among them he discovered one who was not wearing a wedding-robe.
12 Yalo sarge moyo mayonta wanada hayssa gelanas danda7adi gi oychin adezas zarana qalay dhaydees.
"'My friend,' he said, 'how is it that you came in here without a wedding robe?'
13 Kawoykka ba ashkarata hayssa adeza tone kushe shishi qachidi hen karen diza dhumana kessi olitte hen yehoynne acha garcechi gidana gidees.
"The man stood speechless. Then the king said to the servants, "'Bind him hand and foot and fling him into the darkness outside: there will be the weeping aloud and the gnashing of teeth.'
14 Xeygetidayti darota doretidayti gidikko guthata.
"For there are many called, but few chosen."
15 Hessappe guye Parisaweti kezi bishe iza dunappe bala qaala wosti demi oykino gidi zoretida.
Then the Pharisees went and consulted together how they might entrap Him in His conversation.
16 Bena kalizayti Herodosa asatara izakko izakko “astamare neni tumanchane Xoossa ogge tumappe tamarsizade gididaysane onasikka dumma mado othonta wursiqa issi mala ne xelizaysa nu eros” gidees.
So they sent to Him their disciples together with the Herodians; who said, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and that you faithfully teach God's truth; and that no fear of man misleads you, for you are not biased by men's wealth or rank.
17 Ness ay misatizakkone ane nus yota qesares gira qanxanas besize? nesene?
Give us your judgement therefore: is it allowable for us to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?"
18 Yesusaykka ista gene qofa eridi “inteno qodheppe qomoto tana yon balethi oykanas aazas koyeti? gidees.
Perceiving their wickedness, Jesus replied, "Why are you hypocrites trying to ensnare me?
19 Inte gira qanxiza misha anne tana besite gin istikka issi dinare giza miish izas ehida.
Show me the tribute coin." And they brought Him a shilling.
20 Izikka hayssa misha bolla diza misiley onayse? xafey onayse gidees.
"Whose likeness and inscription," He asked, "is this?"
21 Istika izas qesareysa gida. Izikka istas zaridi qesareysa qesares Xoossisa Xoossas imite gidees.
"Caesar's," they replied. "Pay therefore," He rejoined, "what is Caesar's to Caesar; and what is God's to God."
22 Hessa siyida wode malaletidine iza agagidi bida.
They heard this, and were astonished; then left Him, and went their way.
23 Hayqidaytas dendoy bawa gidi amaniza saduqaweti he galas Yesusakko shqidi hizgi oychida.
On the same day a party of Sadducees came to Him, contending that there is no resurrection. And they put this case to Him.
24 Tamarsizaso Mussey issi uray machcho ekidi na yelonta hayqikko iza ishay hayqidaysa machcho ekidi ba isha latiza na yelo gidees.
"Teacher," they said, "Moses enjoined, 'If a man die childless, his brother shall marry his widow, and raise up a family for him.'
25 Nu achan lappun ishati detes shin koyro ishay machcho ekidi na yelonta hayqida gish kaallo ishay iza machchiyo ekidees.
Now we had among us seven brothers. The eldest of them married, but died childless, leaving his wife to his brother.
26 Namm7antho ishaykka hayqida ishatho na yelonta hayqidees, hessathokka hanishin macashaya lappuntha isha geladus.
So also did the second and the third, down to the seventh,
27 Wursethan macashaya hayqadus.
till the woman also died, after surviving them all.
28 Hessa gish lappunati wurikka izo ekkida shin hayqoppe dentha galas macashaya lappuntappe awaysa machcho gidane?
At the Resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? for they all married her."
29 Yesusaykka istas zaridi “Gesha maxafatanne Xoossa wolqa inte eronta gish inte baletista” gidees.
The reply of Jesus was, "You are in error, through ignorance of the Scriptures and of the power of God.
30 Hayqoppe dendidappe guye asay sallo kitanchata mala gidana atin eketenane geletena.
For in the Resurrection, men neither marry nor are women given in marriage, but they are like angels in Heaven.
31 Hayqidayta dentha gish gidikko Xoossi tani Abrame Xoossa Yisaqa Xoossa Yaqobe Xoossa gidi intes yotoysa nababibeyketi? Xoossi paxata Xoossa atin hayqethata Xoossu gidena.
But as to the Resurrection of the dead, have you never read what God says to you,
'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of dead, but of living men."
33 Derykka hessa siyidi iza timirtezan malaletidees.
All the crowd heard this, and were filled with amazement at His teaching.
34 Yesusay Saduqawista co7u hisitidaysa siyidi Parsaweti issi bola shiqetida
Now the Pharisees came up when they heard that He had silenced the Sadducees,
35 Ista garsafe issi Musse woga lo7ethi erizadey Yesusa pacanas koydi “astamare Musse wogata garsan wurosoppe adhizay awaysse? gidi oychidees.
and one of them, an expounder of the Law, asked Him as a test question,
"Teacher, which is the greatest Commandment in the Law?"
37 Izikka zaridi ne Godaa Xoossa ne kumetha wozanappe, ne kumetha shempefe, ne kumetha qofappe dossa.
"'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God,'" He answered, "'with thy whole heart, thy whole soul, thy whole mind.'
38 Haysi koyronne wursoppe adhiza azazo.
This is the greatest and foremost Commandment.
39 Namm7anthoykka iza milates, hesikka ne shoro ne hu7e mala dossa gizaysa.
And the second is similar to it: 'Thou shalt love thy fellow man as much as thyself.'
40 Musse wogayne nabeta timirtey wurikka hayata namm7u azazotan qachetes.
The whole of the Law and the Prophets is summed up in these two Commandments."
41 Parsaweti issi bolla shiqeti dishin Yesusay ista
While the Pharisees were still assembled there, Jesus put a question to them.
42 Kirstosa gish intess ay geti? Izi nona na? gi oychidees, istikka izas zaridi izi Dawite na gida.
"What think you about the Christ," He said, "whose son is He?" "David's," they replied.
43 Izikka istas “histin Dawitey Xillo ayana wolqan “Xoossau ta Godda ta ne morketa ne to garsan gulbatisana gakanas ne ta oshachan uta aazas gidde?
"How then," He asked, "does David, taught by the Spirit, call Him Lord, when he says,
"'The Lord said to my Lord, sit at My right hand until I have put thy foes beneath thy feet'?
45 Hessa gish Dawitey iza ta Goda gidi xegikko wanidi izas na gidana danda7ize?
"If therefore David calls Him Lord, how can He be his son?"
46 Izas issi qaala zarana danda7ida uray woykko he galassappe simiin iza oycho oychana xalida uray onikka betibeynna.
No one could say a word in reply, nor from that day did any one venture again to put a question to Him.
