1 Hesappe guye Yesusay sambata galas kaththa gidora adhi bidess. Iza kalizaytikka gafida gish tiya duthidi shigechi muus oykidda.
About that time Jesus passed on the Sabbath through the wheatfields; and His disciples became hungry, and began to gather ears of wheat and eat them.
2 Parisaweti hessa beyidi Yesusa “hekko nena kalizayti sambata galas oothistanas besontaysa oothetess gidda.”
But the Pharisees saw it and said to Him, "Look! your disciples are doing what the Law forbids them to do on the Sabbath."
3 Izikka istas zaridi “Dawiteyinne izara diza asati gafida wode izi ay othidakkone nababibeyketi?
"Have you never read," He replied, "what David did when he and his men were hungry?
4 Xoossa keth gelidi qesistappe attin Dawiteyne izara dizayti bochanas besonta dumma uketh midess.
how he entered the House of God and ate the Presented Loaves, which it was not lawful for him or his men to eat, nor for any except the priests?
5 Woykko qeseti sambata sharidi meqidess gidon otho othikko moro gidontaysa ooritte wogappe nababibeyketi?
And have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the Temple break the Sabbath without incurring guilt?
6 Gidikkokka ta intess gizay meqdeseppe adhizadey han dess.
But I tell you that there is here that which is greater than the Temple.
7 “Yarsho gidonta ta maroteth dosays” giza qaalay ay gusukunne inte erizakko xillota bolla pirdekistakkoshin
And if you knew what this means, 'It is mercy I desire, not sacrifice', you would not have condemned those who are without guilt.
8 asa nay sanbatas godda” gidees.
For the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath."
9 Heppe izi gede adhishe ista mukurabe gelidess.
Departing thence He went to their synagogue,
10 Henikka issi kushe silidadey dess. Yesuusa kasasanas gasso koyidi “sambata galas pathanas besize?” gidi iza oychidess.
where there was a man with a shrivelled arm. And they questioned Him, "Is it right to cure people on the Sabbath?" Their intention was to bring a charge against Him.
11 Izikka ista “inteppe isadde dorsi sambata galas olan gilikko ba dorssa izi gelidi ollafe gochi kessi erene?
"Which of you is there," He replied, "who, if he has but a single sheep and it falls into a hole on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?
12 Histikko assi dorssappe kehi adhene? hessa gish sambata galas lo7o oothoy digetena” gidess.
Is not a man, however, far superior to a sheep? Therefore it is right to do good on the Sabbath."
13 Addeza “ne kushe pidisa” gidess, addezikka ba kushe pidisin hinkko kusheza mala paxa gididees.
Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your arm." And he stretched it out, and it was restored quite sound like the other.
14 Giddo atin parsaweti heppe kezidine Yesuusa wosti oyki wodhanakone ba garsan zoretidda.
But the Pharisees after leaving the synagogue consulted together against Him, how they might destroy Him.
15 Yesusay ista qohaaththaa eridi heppe haraso deesh gidess. Daro derey iza kalidess harganchatakka wursi pathidess.
Aware of this, Jesus departed elsewhere; and a great number of people followed Him, all of whom He cured.
16 Izi onakone asas yotonta mala ista azazidess.
But He gave them strict injunctions not to blaze abroad His doings,
17 Hesikka haniday nabe Isayasan “Ta doridayne ta izan ufa7etiza ta nay haysich; ta ayanappe ta iza bolla wothana, izikka amanonta deretas tumu pirda awajana, oyetena, woykko wassena. Izas qalaykka karen siyetena, Tuma pirda xonos gathana gakanas tinceti utida shomboqokka menthenane cuwatiza muqadakka toysena, amanonta dereti iza ufaysan nagana” getetidi yotetida tinbite qalay polistana.
that those words of the Prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled,
"This is My servant whom I have chosen, My dearly loved One in whom My soul takes pleasure. I will put My spirit upon Him, and He will announce justice to the nations.
He will not wrangle or raise His voice, nor will His voice be heard in the broadways.
A crushed reed He will not utterly break, nor will He quench the still smouldering wick, until He has led on Justice to victory.
And on His name shall the nations rest their hopes."
22 Hessappe guye daydanthi oykin xelanasine hasa7anas dayda7onta issi ura Yesusakko ekki yida. Yesusaykka iza pathin addezi xelanassine hasa7anas dandaydess.
At that time a demoniac was brought to Him, blind and dumb; and He cured him, so that the dumb man could speak and see.
23 Assay wurikka malaletidi “haysi addezi Dawite nasha?” gidess.
And the crowds of people were all filled with amazement and said, "Can this be the Son of David?"
24 Giddo atin parsaweti hessa siyda wode “Haysi addezi daydanth kesizay daydantha halaqa bi7el zebula wolqan xala gidanas besses” gida.
The Pharisees heard it and said, "This man only expels demons by the power of Baal-zebul, the Prince of demons."
25 Yesusay ista qofa eridi “ba garsan isay issappe shaketiza kawotethi wurikka kundana, ba garsan shaketiza katamay woykko ketha assi minena.
Knowing their thoughts He said to them, "Every kingdom in which civil war has raged suffers desolation; and every city or house in which there is internal strife will be brought low.
26 Xala7ey Xala7e kesiza gidkko Xala7ey ba garasan shaketidess gusa. Hessatho hanikko iza kawotethi wani minana danda7ize?
And if Satan is expelling Satan, he has begun to make war on himself: how therefore shall his kingdom last?
27 Tani bi7el zebula wolqan kesiza gidikko inte nayti aza woliqan kesane? Hessa gish inte nayti inte bolla pirdana.
And if it is by Baal-zebul's power that I expel the demons, by whose power do your disciples expel them? They therefore shall be your judges.
28 Gido atin tani daydanth kesizay Xoossa ayanan gidikko Xoossa kawotethi intekko yidess gussa.
But if it is by the power of the Spirit of God that I expel the demons, it is evident that the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 Woykko issi uray wolqara dizade keth gelidi mishe bonqana koyikko kasetidi he wolqara dizadeza oyki qashonta wosti bonqane? Qachidappe guye bonqana dandayes.
Again, how can any one enter the house of a strong man and carry off his goods, unless first of all he masters and secures the strong man: then he will ransack his house.
30 Tanara gidontadey tanara eqetes, tanara issippe shishonta uray wurikka lales.
"The man who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me is scattering abroad.
31 Hessa gish ta intess tumu gays nagara othoyne cashi wuri asas ato getistana shin Xillo ayana cayida uray maretena.
This is why I tell you that men may find forgiveness for every other sin and impious word, but that for impious speaking against the Holy Spirit they shall find no forgiveness.
32 Ay assikka asa na bolla hasa7iza iitta qaalay maristana shin Xillo Ayana bolla hasa7iza iita qaalay gidikko hayssa ha woden gidin woykko buro yana woden gidin maroy deena. (aiōn )
And whoever shall speak against the Son of Man may obtain forgiveness; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, neither in this nor in the coming age shall he obtain forgiveness." (aiōn )
33 Mithi wuri ayfen eretizaysa mala inte lo7o ayfe demana mala intes lo7o mithi deyo, intes iita mithi diza gidikko inte ita ayfe ekkana.
"Either grant the tree to be wholesome and its fruit wholesome, or the tree poisonous and its fruit poisonous; for the tree is known by its fruit.
34 Inteno marzera diza shoshato inteni iitata gidi utidi wosti lo7o hasa7anas dandayeti? Ulo garsan kumidazi dunara hasa7etess.
O vipers' brood, how can you speak what is good when you are evil? For it is from the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks.
35 Lo7o assi ba wozinan kunthi wothida lo7o yooppe lo7o hasa7es, iitta assikka ba wozinan kunthi wothidda itatethappe iitta yo kesses.
A good man from his good store produces good things, and a bad man from his bad store produces bad things.
36 Gido atin ta intess gizay asay ba hasa7ida hada qaala wurso gish pirda galas wurikka oychistana.
But I tell you that for every careless word that men shall speak they will be held accountable on the day of Judgement.
37 Gassoykka ne qalappe dendidaysan ne xilada atanane ne qalappe dendidaysan ne bolla pirdistana
For each of you by his words shall be justified, or by his words shall be condemned."
38 Hessappe guye issi issi Musse woga tamarsizaytine parsaweti Yesusa “astamare, nu neppe malalsiza malata beyanas koyos” gida.
Then He was accosted by some of the Scribes and of the Pharisees who said, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign given by you."
39 Izi istass zaridi “ha iitane layma yeletay malata oyches gido attin nabbe Yoonasa malatappe atin hara malatay imetena” gidess.
"Wicked and faithless generation!" He replied, "they clamour for a sign, but none shall be given to them except the sign of the Prophet Jonah.
40 Yoonasay gita mole ulo giidon heedzdzu qamane hezu galas gami7ida mala asa nay hezu galasine hezu qamma bitta ulon gam7ana.
For just as Jonah was three days in the sea-monster's belly, so will the Son of Man be three days in the heart of the earth.
41 Nanawe asay pirda galas hayssa ha yeletara dendidi ha yeleta bolla pirdana; gasoykka Nanawe asay Yoonaasa markatethan maroteth gelida gishasa. Hekko Yoonaasappe adhizadey han dees.
There will stand up men of Nineveh at the Judgement together with the present generation, and will condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and mark! there is One greater than Jonah here.
42 Dugge baga dere kawoya Solomoone erateth siyanas bitta gaxappe dendada yidda gish pirda galas iza hayssa yeletethara dendada ha yeletetha bolla pirdana. Hekko Solomooneppe adhizadey hayssan dess.
The Queen of the south will awake at the Judgement together with the present generation, and will condemn it; because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and mark! there is One greater than Solomon here.
43 Tuna ayanay asappe kezidi sheemppo demanas hathi baynda mela bitan dabures, gido attin ba koyiza shemppo demena.
"No sooner however has the foul spirit gone out of the man, then he roams about in places where there is no water, seeking rest but finding none.
44 Hessappe qasse kasse ta dizaso siimma bana gidi beniso izi simishin kasse izi dizasoy aykoyne baynda mela keth gididi geyidine gigeti dizaysa deemess.
Then he says, 'I will return to my house that I left;' and he comes and finds it unoccupied, swept clean, and in good order.
45 Hessafe bidi hara beppe itiza lapun iitta ayanata benara ekidi yeess. Istika he uran gelidi deyana. He uras kasse dusafe guye dusay iita gidana. Haysa iitta yeletethaskka hessa mala hanana.
Then he goes and brings back with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they come in and dwell there; and in the end that man's condition becomes worse than it was at first. So will it be also with the present wicked generation."
46 Yesusay asas yotishin iza ayiyane ishati iza yochana koyidi karen eeqidashe;
While He was still addressing the people His mother and His brothers were standing on the edge of the crowd desiring to speak to Him.
47 Issi uray hekko ne ayane ne ishati nena hasa7isanas karen eeqidi nena koyetes gidess.
So some one told Him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and desire to speak to you."
48 Yesusaykka ta aya oone? ta ishatich isti oonante? gidess.
"Who is my mother?" He said to the man; "and who are my brothers?"
49 Be kushera bena kalizaytakko malatidi, ta ayane ta ishati haytanta.
And pointing to His disciples He added, "See here are my mother and my brothers.
50 Salon diza ta aawa shene othizayti wurikka tass isha michchonne ayo gidess.
To obey my Father who is in Heaven--that is to be my brother and my sister and my mother."
