Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread was drawing near, which is called the Passover,

and the chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to get rid of Jesus quietly, for they were afraid of the people.
3 Yesussa kaalliza tammanne nam77antappe asqqoroto biitta asa Yihuda geetettizaysan xalla7ey gelidees.
Then Satan entered into Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
4 Yihudaykka qeeseta halaqqatakkonne maqddase alafistakko biiddi istas Yesussa wosit aathi immanakkonne istara haasa7ettidees.
He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might deliver Jesus up to them.

They were glad and agreed to give him money.
6 Yihudaykka ista qofa dossidees, Yesussa istas assi beyontta aathi immanas giiga wode naagishn faaziga dorssa shukkiza ukeethara bonchiza baale gallas gakkides.
So he accepted the offer and began looking for an opportunity to deliver Jesus up to them in the absence of a crowd.
Then came the day for the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.
8 Yesussaykka bena kaallizayta faaziga ka7o maanas biiddi nuus giigissite giidi Phexirosane Yanisa kiittidees.
Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”

12 Izikka imathas giigettida aaho so bessana izi bessiza son giigissite gides.
He will then show you a large upper room that is furnished; prepare it there.”
13 Istika biiddi Yesussay gida mala keeththa demmida faaziga heen giigissida.
So they went and found it just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

When the hour came, Jesus reclined at the table, and the twelve apostles were with him.
He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 Ta intes tumu gays Xoossa kawotethan hayssa birshethi polistana gakanas hayssa faaziga nam77antho intenara miikke.
For I tell you that I will certainly not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

In the same way, he also took the cup after they had eaten supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
21 Gido attin tana aathi immana ura kushey ta kushera issife maaddan dees.
But behold, the hand of the one who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.

The Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed.”
23 Istika hessa oothannay oonee? giidi ba garsan issay issa oycherethida.
Then they began to discuss with one another which one of them could ever do such a thing.

A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greater.

“Father, if yoʋ are willing to take this cup away from me, do so; nevertheless, not my will, but yoʋrs be done.”
43 Saloppe kiitanchay qonccidi Yesussa minnithethidees.
Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
44 Izikka keehi xugetidi woossishin iza asatethafe caway sutha mala gukkides.
Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

Then one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.

And Peter went out and wept bitterly.
