1 Inte garsan diza oolaynne ooshay awape yidee? Inte wozinan diza amotethafe dendida oola gidenee?
Whence [come] wars and whence [come] fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your pleasures that war in your members?
2 Inte amottista shin demekista. Inte asi wodhistanne kehi amotista shin demana danda7ekista. Inte inte garisan ooyetiza gishanne ooletiza gish qasse wosontta gish intes imettena.
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and covet, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Inte inte asho ufaysanaas iitta qofan wosiza gish wosidaysa inte ekekista.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend [it] in your pleasures.
4 Inteno laymatizayto alamera siiqetethi Xoossara morketeth gididaysa ereketii? Hessa gish hayssa alamezara siiqitethi koyzay wurikka Xoossas morke.
Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God.
5 Woykko gesha maxaafa gidon “nunan izi ayssiida ayanay nu ziaysa gidana mala daro amottees” gizaysi intes coo mela gidayssa milatize?
Or think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? Doth the spirit which he made to dwell in us long unto envying?
6 Gido attin izi ba kiiyateth nuus gujji immees. Maxafaykka “Xoossi ootoranchatara eqettees, ashikistas qase ba kiiyateth immees” giday hessasikko.
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore [the scripture] saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
7 Hessa gish intena Xoossas harisiite. Dabuloosara eqitite, izi intefe baqatana.
Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Xoossako shiiqqite izikka intekko shiiqqana. Inteno nagaranchato! inte inte kushe geeshshite, inte nam77u qofan qaxiizayto, inte inte wozina geeshshite.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye doubleminded.
9 Darsi qoppite; muyagiite; yekiite. Inte michay yehon; ufaysay qasse qadhetethan siimo.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Goda sinththan inte intena kawushite qasse izi intena dhooqu dhooqu histtana.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you.
11 Ta ishato inte inte garisan issay issay motoopite ba isha motizadeynne ba isha bolla piridizadey woga bolla iitta hasa7esinne woga bolla piridees. Ne woga bolla pirdizade attin woga naagizade gidakka.
Speak not one against another, brethren. He that speaketh against a brother, or judgeth his brother, speaketh against the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judgest the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 Woga wothidadeynne pirdizadey issade xalalakko. Izikka dhaysanaasinne ashanaas danda7izadekko. Gido attin neni ne lagge bolla pirdizadey oone?
One [only] is the lawgiver and judge, [even] he who is able to save and to destroy: but who art thou that judgest thy neighbour?
13 Inte hachchchi woykko wontto hano ha katamayo woykko hiino he katamayo nu baana, biidi hen izin issi laythth utananne zal77i wodhisana gizayto ane haa siyte.
Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain:
14 Wonto hananayssa inte erekista. Inte shemppoy iza azee? Inteni guutha wode ayfes bettidi dhayiza haththa penta malakko.
whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 Hassa gaanappe “Goda shene gidikonne nu paxxa dikko, hessakka hayssaka oothana” gaanas intes bessees.
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that.
16 Ha7i gidiko inte otoretethan ceqetista. Hessa mala oothoretethi wurikka iitta.
But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.
17 Hessa gish loo7o gidizayssa oothanas besizaysa erishe oothonttades nagara gidana.
To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
