< 1 Ximttoossa 2 >
1 Hessa gish wurssofe koyro hara asas shoobetha woosa, gaanatetha woosane galata woosa asa wurssos kawootasine dere ayssizaytas wurssos woosssana mala qopisays.
I exhort then, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men;
2 Hessikka tumu ayyana duussanine geeshshateth wursson nuni sarotethanine wogan daana malassiko.
including kings and all who are in high station, in order that we may live peaceful and tranquil lives with all godliness and gravity.
3 Hayssi nuna ashshiza Xoossa achchan loonne ufayssizazikko.
This is right, and is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,
4 Izi asi wuri attana malane tuma erana mala koyees.
who is willing for all mankind to be saved and come to a full knowledge of the truth.
5 Issi Xoossi xaala dees. Qassekka Xoossasine asas giidon issi giggisizza gaanay dees. Izikka asi gidida Yesuss Kiristtoossako.
For there is but one God and but one Mediator between God and men--Christ Jesus, Himself man;
6 Izi bena asa wurssos aathi immides. Hessikka heeraka wodey adhdhontta izas markkatides.
who gave Himself as the redemption price for all--a fact testified to at its own appointed time,
7 Takka hayssas miishshirachcho yootanas kiittetidade. Qasseka deretas tumu ammano assitamare gidada shuumistadis. Hessakka ta wordotontta tumu yootanassikko.
and of which I have been appointed a herald and an Apostle (I am speaking the truth: it is not a fiction), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Hessa gish attuma asay wursso soon hanqqoy bayinddane palammay bayindda ba geeshsha kushista pude dhuuqqu histtidi woosana mala ta koyayis.
So then I would have the men everywhere pray, lifting to God holy hands which are unstained with anger or strife;
9 Hessathokka maccashshati bonchora bena shiishshi ekkidi beessiza mayo mayeto, attin ba hu7e daadi ekkidi woykko alli7o mayo, worqqanne inqufe aathidi walq walq guuppetto.
and I would have the women dress becomingly, with modesty and self-control, not with plaited hair or gold or pearls or costly clothes,
10 Gido attin Xoossu woosos giza maccashshati isttas oothana beessiza loo7o oothon lo7etto.
but--as befits women making a claim to godliness--with the ornament of good works.
11 Maccashshi coou gaada kumeththara azazeteth tamaru.
A woman should quietly learn from others with entire submissiveness.
12 Maccashshi coou gaanape attin iza tamarssana mala woykko adde bolla godatana mala koykke.
I do not permit a woman to teach, nor have authority over a man, but she must remain silent.
13 Gasooykka koyro addamey medhdhettides; kaalada hewana medhdhettadus.
For Adam was formed first, and then Eve;
14 Qassekka koyro ballettiday addamme gidena. Ballettada xoossa wogappe adhdhiday maccashshayoko.
and Adam was not deceived, but his wife was thoroughly deceived, and so became involved in transgression.
15 Gidikkoka maccashshi ammanonine siiqqon geeshshatethan berkka bena haaron miinnikko naa yelon attana.
Yet a woman will be brought safely through childbirth if she and her husband continue to live in faith and love and growing holiness, with habitual self-restraint.
