Sophonie 2
1 Venez tous ensemble, réunissez-vous, nation indigne d’être aimée;
Assemble yourselves, yes, assemble, O nation not desired;
2 Avant qu’un ordre enfante un jour comme la poussière qui passe, avant que vienne sur vous la colère de la fureur du Seigneur, avant que vienne sur vous le jour de l’indignation du Seigneur.
Before the decree bringeth forth, [before] the day passeth as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD cometh upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger cometh upon you.
3 Cherchez le Seigneur, vous tous humbles de la terre, qui avez exécuté ses jugements; cherchez la justice, cherchez la douceur; peut-être serez-vous à couvert au jour de la fureur du Seigneur.
Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, who have performed his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye will be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.
4 Parce que Gaza a été détruite et Ascalon réduite en un désert; on chassera Azot, en plein midi, et Accaron sera déracinée.
For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
5 Malheur à vous qui habitez la région de la mer, nation d’hommes perdus: la parole du Seigneur a été prononcée contre vous, Chanaan, terre des Philistins, et je t’exterminerai, en sorte qu’il n’y ait pas en toi d’habitant.
Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coasts, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD [is] against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
6 Et la région de la mer sera le lieu de repos des pasteurs, et le parc des troupeaux de menu bétail;
And the sea coast shall be dwellings [and] cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
7 Et cette région appartiendra à celui qui sera resté de la maison de Juda; là ils paîtront les troupeaux, dans les maisons d’Ascalon ils se reposeront le soir; parce que le Seigneur leur Dieu les visitera, et les ramènera de leur captivité.
And the coasts shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed upon them: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God will visit them, and turn away their captivity.
8 J’ai entendu les paroles outrageantes de Moab et les blasphèmes des fils d’Ammon, quand ils ont outragé mon peuple et l’ont bravé sur ses frontières.
I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, by which they have reproached my people, and magnified [themselves] against their border.
9 À cause de cela, je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur des armées, le Dieu d’Israël, Moab sera comme Sodome, et les fils d’Ammon comme Gomorrhe; ils auront des épines sèches, et des morceaux de sel, et un désert pour toujours; les restes de mon peuple les pilleront, et ceux de ma nation qui auront survécu en seront les maîtres.
Therefore [as] I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, [even] the breeding of nettles, and salt-pits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall lay them waste, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
10 Cela leur arrivera à cause de leur orgueil; parce qu’ils ont blasphémé, et ont bravé le peuple du Seigneur des armées.
This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified [themselves] against the people of the LORD of hosts.
11 Le Seigneur sera terrible contre eux, et il anéantira tous les dieux de la terre; et les hommes l’adoreront, chacun en son lieu, ainsi que toutes les îles des nations.
The LORD [will be] terrible to them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and [men] shall worship him, every one from his place, [even] all the isles of the heathen.
12 Mais vous aussi, Ethiopiens, vous serez tués par mon glaive.
Ye Cushites also, ye [shall be] slain by my sword.
13 Et il étendra sa main vers l’aquilon et perdra Assur; et il fera de la cité magnifique une solitude, et un lieu inaccessible, et comme un désert.
And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, [and] dry like a wilderness.
14 Et se coucheront au milieu d’elle les troupeaux, et toutes les bêtes des nations; et l’onocrotale et le hérisson demeureront sur ses linteaux: la voix de l’oiseau chantant retentira sur la fenêtre; le corbeau croassera sur le linteau, parce que j’anéantirai sa force.
And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; [their] voice shall sing in the windows; desolation [shall be] in the threshholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
15 Voilà la cité glorieuse qui demeurait dans la confiance; qui disait en son cœur: Moi je suis, et hors moi il n’y en a plus d’autre; comment est-elle devenue un désert, un repaire de bête sauvage? Quiconque la traversera, sifflera et agitera sa main.
This [is] the rejoicing city that dwelt in security, that said in her heart, I [am], and [there is] none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, [and] wag his hand.
