Sophonie 1
1 Parole du Seigneur qui fut adressée à Sophonie, fils de Chusi, fils de Godolias, fils d’Amarias, fils d’Ezécias, aux jours de Josias, fils d’Amon, roi de Juda.
The word of the Lord which came unto Zephanyah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedalyah, the son of Amaryah, the son of Chizkiyah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon the king of Judah.
2 Rassemblant je rassemblerai toutes choses de la face de la terre, dit le Seigneur;
I will remove, utterly remove all things from off the face of the earth, saith the Lord.
3 Rassemblant les hommes et les bêtes, rassemblant les volatiles du ciel et les poissons de la mer; et la ruine des impies arrivera; et j’exterminerai les hommes de la face de la terre, dit le Seigneur.
I will remove man and beast; I will remove the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks together with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the earth, saith the Lord.
4 Et j’étendrai ma main sur Juda et sur tous les habitants de Jérusalem, et j’exterminerai de ce lieu les restes de Baal, et les noms des gardiens du temple avec les prêtres;
And I will stretch out my hand over Judah, and over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Ba'al from this place, the name of his ministers with his priests;
5 Et ceux qui adorent sur les toits la milice du ciel, qui adorent le Seigneur et jurent par lui, et jurent par Melchom;
And those that bow themselves down on the roofs of houses to the host of heaven; and those that bow themselves down that are sworn [to be true] to the Lord and still swear by Malkom;
6 Et ceux qui se détournent en arrière du Seigneur, et ceux qui n’ont pas cherché le Seigneur, et ne s’en sont pas mis en peine.
And those that are turned away from following the Lord; and those that have not sought for the Lord, and have not inquired of him.
7 Soyez en silence devant la face du Seigneur Dieu, parce qu’est proche le jour du Seigneur, parce que le Seigneur a préparé une hostie, il a sanctifié ses convives.
Be silent in the presence of the Lord Eternal; for nigh is the day of the Lord; for the Lord hath prepared a slaughter, he hath bidden his invited guests.
8 Et il arrivera qu’au jour de l’hostie du Seigneur je visiterai les princes et les fils du roi, et ceux qui sont vêtus d’un habit étranger;
And it shall come to pass on the day of the Lord's slaughter, that I will inflict punishment on the princes, and on the king's sons, and on all such as are clothed in garments of a foreign land.
9 Et je visiterai quiconque entre arrogamment sur le seuil du temple en ce jour-là, et qui remplit la maison du Seigneur son Dieu d’iniquité et de tromperie.
And I will inflict punishment on all those that leap over the threshold on that day, who fill the house of their master with violence and deceit.
10 Et il y aura, en ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur, une voix de clameur venant de la porte des Poissons, et un hurlement venant de la seconde porte, et le bruit d’une grande ruine venant des collines.
And it shall come to pass on that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be a loud cry of lamentation from the fish-gate, and a wailing from the second, and [that of] a great breach from the hills.
11 Hurlez, habitants de Pila; tout le peuple de Chanaan s’est tu, tous ceux qui étaient couverts d’argent ont été exterminés.
Wail, ye inhabitants of the mortar-street, for destroyed are all the trading people; cut off are all that were laden with silver.
12 Et il arrivera qu’en ce jour je scruterai Jérusalem avec des lampes; et je visiterai les hommes enfoncés dans leur lie; qui disent en leurs cœurs: Le Seigneur ne fera pas de bien, et il ne fera pas de mal.
And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem through with lights; and I will inflict punishment on the men that are at rest on their lees, that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, nor will he do evil.
13 Et leurs richesses seront au pillage, et leurs maisons réduites en un désert; et ils bâtiront des maisons, et ils ne les habiteront pas; et ils planteront des vignes, et ils n’en boiront pas le vin.
And their wealth shall become a booty, and their houses shall be made desolate; and they will build houses, but they shall not inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, but they shall not drink their wine.
14 Il est proche, le grand jour du Seigneur, il est proche et extrêmement prompt; la voix du jour du Seigneur est amère; le fort sera alors dans la tribulation.
Nigh is the great day of the Lord, it is nigh, and hasteneth greatly, [there is] the noise of the day of the Lord: bitterly crieth there the mighty man.
15 Jour de colère, ce jour-là; jour de tribulation et d’angoisse; jour de calamité et de misère; jour de ténèbres et d’obscurité, de nuage et de tempête.
A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anxiety, a day of wasting and desolation, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and tempestuous gloom,
16 Jour de la trompe et du bruit retentissant sur les cités fortifiées, et sur les angles élevés.
A day of the cornet and alarm, against the fenced cities, and against the high battlements.
17 Et j’affligerai les hommes, et ils marcheront comme des aveugles, parce qu’ils ont péché contre le Seigneur; et leur sang sera répandu comme de la poussière, et leurs corps comme des ordures.
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk about like the blind, because against the Lord have they sinned: and their blood shall be poured out like the dust, and their flesh like the dung.
18 Mais même leur argent et leur or ne pourra les délivrer au jour de la colère du Seigneur; par le feu de son zèle toute la terre sera dévorée, parce qu’il exterminera promptement tous les habitants de la terre.
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord's wrath; through the fire of whose zeal the whole land shall be devoured; for destruction, yea, quite sudden, will he prepare for all the inhabitants of the land.
