Zacharie 7

1 Et il arriva dans la quatrième année du roi Darius, que la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Zacharie, au quatrième jour du neuvième mois, qui est appelé Casleu.

And it happened, in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, on the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Kislev.

2 Or Sarasar et Rogommélech et les hommes qui étaient avec lui, envoyèrent à la maison de Dieu pour implorer la face du Seigneur,

And Sharezer and Regemmelech, and the men who were with them, sent to the house of God, to entreat the face of the Lord,

3 Afin de parler aux prêtres de la maison du Seigneur des armées et aux prophètes, en leur disant: Faut-il que je pleure dans le cinquième mois, ou dois-je me sanctifier comme je l’ai déjà fait pendant beaucoup d’années?

to speak to the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts and to the prophets, saying: “Must there be weeping with me in the fifth month, and must I sanctify myself, as I have now done for many years?”

4 Et la parole du Seigneur des armées me fut adressée, disant:

And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:

5 Parle à tout le peuple de la terre et aux prêtres, en disant: Lorsque vous avez jeûné et pleuré dans le cinquième et le septième mois, pendant ces soixante-dix années, est-ce pour moi que vous avez jeûné?

Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: Although you may have fasted and mourned in the fifth and the seventh month for these seventy years, did you indeed keep a fast unto me?

6 Et lorsque vous avez mangé et que vous avez bu, n’est-ce pas pour vous que vous avez mangé et pour vous que vous avez bu?

And when you did eat and drink, did you not eat for yourselves, and drink only for yourselves?

7 Ne sont-ce pas là les paroles qu’a dites le Seigneur par l’entremise des prophètes antérieurs, lorsque Jérusalem était encore habitée, et qu’elle était opulente, elle-même et les villes autour d’elle, et qu’au midi et dans la plaine tout était habité?

Are not these the words that the Lord has spoken by the hand of the former prophets, when Jerusalem was still inhabited, so that it would prosper, itself and the cities around it, and those inhabitants towards the South and in the plains?

8 Et la parole du Seigneur des armées fut adressée à Zacharie, disant:

And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying:

9 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Jugez selon la vérité, usez de miséricorde et de clémence, chacun envers son frère.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying: Judge with true judgment, and act with mercy and compassion, each and every one with his brother.

10 Et n’opprimez point la veuve, ni l’orphelin, ni l’étranger, ni le pauvre; et qu’un homme ne médite pas dans son cœur le mal contre son frère.

And do not find fault with the widow, and the orphan, and the newcomer, and the poor. And let not a man consider evil in his heart towards his brother.

11 Mais vos pères n’ont pas voulu être attentifs à ma voix, et ils ont détourné l’épaule en se retirant, et ils ont appesanti leurs oreilles pour ne pas entendre.

But they were not willing to pay attention, and they turned aside their shoulder to depart, and they pressed upon their ears, so that they would not hear.

12 Et leur cœur, ils l’ont rendu dur comme un diamant, pour ne pas écouter la loi et la parole que le Seigneur des armées leur envoya avec son esprit, par l’entremise de ses prophètes antérieurs; et le Seigneur des armées conçut une grande indignation.

And they set their heart like the hardest stone, so that they would not hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts has sent with his Spirit by the hand of the former prophets. And so a great indignation came from Lord of hosts.

13 Or il est arrivé comme il a parlé, et ils n’ont pas écouté; ainsi ils crieront, et je ne les écouterai pas, dit le Seigneur des armées.

And it happened, just as he had spoken, and they did not pay attention. So then, they shall cry out, and I will not heed, says the Lord of hosts.

14 Et je les ai dispersés dans tous les royaumes qu’ils ne connaissent pas; et leur terre a été désolée derrière eux, en sorte qu’il n’y avait personne qui y passât, et qui en revînt; et ils ont fait d’une terre délicieuse un désert.

And I dispersed them throughout all the kingdoms that they did not know. And the land was left desolate behind them, so that no one was passing through or returning. And they made the desirable land into a deserted place.
