Tite 2
1 Pour toi, enseigne ce qui est conforme à la saine doctrine:
But let your words be in agreement with true and right teaching:
2 Aux vieillards, d’être sobres, pudiques, graves, prudents, purs dans la foi, dans la charité, dans la patience;
That old men are to be simple in their tastes, serious, wise, true in faith, in love, and of a quiet mind.
3 Et de même aux femmes âgées, d’avoir un maintien qui respire la sainteté, de n’être ni médisantes ni adonnées au vin, de bien instruire,
That old women are to be self-respecting in behaviour, not saying evil of others, not given to taking much wine, teachers of that which is good,
4 D’enseigner la sagesse aux jeunes filles, d’aimer leurs maris, de chérir leurs enfants,
Training the younger women to have love for their husbands and children,
5 D’être prudentes, chastes, sobres, appliquées au soin de leur maison, bonnes, soumises à leurs maris, afin que la parole, de Dieu ne soit point blasphémée.
To be wise in mind, clean in heart, kind; working in their houses, living under the authority of their husbands; so that no evil may be said of the word of God.
6 Exhorte également les jeunes hommes à être tempérants.
To the young men give orders to be wise and serious-minded:
7 Montre-toi toi-même, en toutes choses, un modèle de bonnes œuvres, dans la doctrine, dans l’intégrité, dans la gravité.
In all things see that you are an example of good works; holy in your teaching, serious in behaviour,
8 Que ta parole soit saine, irrépréhensible, afin que notre adversaire rougisse, n’ayant aucun mal à dire de nous.
Saying true and right words, against which no protest may be made, so that he who is not on our side may be put to shame, unable to say any evil of us.
9 Exhorte les serviteurs à être soumis à leurs maîtres, à leur complaire en tout, à ne les point contredire,
Servants are to be under the authority of their masters, pleasing them in all things, without argument;
10 À ne rien dérober, mais à montrer en tout une fidélité parfaite, afin qu’en toutes choses ils fassent honneur à la doctrine de Dieu notre Sauveur.
Not taking what is not theirs, but giving clear signs of their good faith, in all things doing credit to the teaching of God our Saviour.
11 Car la grâce de Dieu notre Sauveur, est apparue à tous les hommes,
For the grace of God has come, giving salvation to all men,
12 Nous enseignant à renoncer à l’impiété et aux désirs du siècle, et à vivre sobrement, justement et pieusement dans ce monde, (aiōn g165)
Training us so that, turning away from evil and the desires of this world, we may be living wisely and uprightly in the knowledge of God in this present life; (aiōn g165)
13 Attendant la bienheureuse espérance et l’avènement de la gloire du grand Dieu et de notre Sauveur Jésus-Christ,
Looking for the glad hope, the revelation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Qui s’est livré lui-même pour nous, afin de nous racheter de toute iniquité, et de se faire un peuple pur, agréable et zélé pour les bonnes œuvres.
Who gave himself for us, so that he might make us free from all wrongdoing, and make for himself a people clean in heart and on fire with good works.
15 Dis ces choses, exhorte et reprends avec une pleine autorité. Que personne ne te méprise.
On all these points give teaching and help, and make clear what is right with all authority. Let all men give you honour.
