Apocalypse 13
1 Et il s’arrêta sur le sable de la mer. Et je vis une bête montant de la mer, ayant sept têtes et dix cornes, dix diadèmes sur ses cornes, et sur ses têtes dix noms de blasphème.
And I stood on the sand of the sea, and saw a beast coming up out of the sea, and he had seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten diadems, and on his heads names impiously irreverent.
2 Et la bête que je vis était semblable à un léopard: ses pieds étaient comme les pieds d’un ours, et sa bouche comme la bouche d’un lion. Et le dragon lui donna sa force et sa grande puissance.
And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were as those of a bear, and his mouth was as the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power, and his throne, and great authority.
3 Et je vis une de ses têtes comme blessée à mort; mais cette plaie mortelle fut guérie. Aussi toute la terre émerveillée suivit la bête.
And I saw one of his heads as if it had been wounded even to death; and his deadly wound was healed; and all the earth wondered after the beast.
4 Ils adorèrent le dragon qui avait donné puissance à la bête, et ils adorèrent la bête, disant: Qui est semblable à la bête, et qui pourra combattre contre elle?
And they worshiped the dragon, because he gave authority to the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? and, Who is able to make war with him?
5 Et il lui fut donné une bouche qui proférait des paroles d’orgueil et des blasphèmes; et le pouvoir d’agir pendant quarante deux mois lui fut aussi donné.
And there was given him a mouth that spoke great things and impious words; and authority was given to him to continue forty-two months.
6 Elle ouvrit sa bouche à des blasphèmes contre Dieu, pour blasphémer son nom et son tabernacle, et ceux qui habitent dans le ciel.
And he opened his mouth in impious speeches against God, to utter impious words against his name, and his tabernacle, and against those who dwell in heaven.
7 Il lui fut donné de faire la guerre aux saints et de les vaincre: et il lui fut donné puissance sur toute tribu, sur tout peuple, sur toute langue, et sur toute nation;
And it was given him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and authority was given him over every tribe and people and tongue and nation.
8 Et ils l’adorèrent, tous ceux qui habitent la terre, dont les noms ne sont pas écrits dans le livre de vie de l’Agneau, qui a été immolé dès l’origine du monde.
And all that dwell upon the earth will worship him, those whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world.
9 Si quelqu’un a des oreilles qu’il entende.
If any one has an ear, let him hear.
10 Celui qui aura mené en captivité sera captif; celui qui aura tué par le glaive, il faut qu’il soit tué par le glaive. C’est ici la patience et la foi des saints.
If any one leads into captivity, he shall go into captivity. If any kills with the sword, he must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and faithfulness of the saints.
11 Je vis une autre bête montant de la terre; elle avait deux cornes semblables à celle de l’Agneau, et elle parlait comme le dragon.
And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon.
12 Elle exerçait toute la puissance de la première bête en sa présence, et elle fit que la terre et ceux qui l’habitent adorèrent la première bête dont la plaie avait été guérie.
And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence; and he causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 Elle fit de grands prodiges, jusqu’à faire descendre le feu du ciel sur la terre en présence des hommes.
And he does great signs, and even causes fire to descend from heaven upon the earth in the sight of men.
14 Et elle séduisit ceux qui habitaient sur la terre par les prodiges qu’elle eut le pouvoir de faire en présence de la bête, disant aux habitants de la terre de faire une image à la bête qui a reçu une blessure du glaive, et qui a conservé la vie.
And he deceives those who dwell on the earth, by means of the signs which he is allowed to do in the presence of the beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image for the beast which had the wound by the sword, and did live.
15 Il lui fut même donné d’animer l’image de la bête, de faire parler l’image de la bête, et de faire que tous ceux qui n’adoreraient pas l’image de la bête seraient tués.
And it was granted him to give spirit to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast, to be killed.
16 Elle fera encore que les petits et les grands, les riches et les pauvres, les hommes libres et les esclaves, aient tous le caractère de la bête en leur main droite et sur leur front;
And he causes all, small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead,
17 Et que personne ne puisse acheter ni vendre, que celui qui aura le caractère, ou le nom de la bête, ou le nombre de son nom.
and that no one should be able to buy or sell, but he that had the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 C’est ici la sagesse. Que celui qui a de l’intelligence compte le nombre de la bête; car c’est le nombre d’un homme, et son nombre est six cent soixante-six.
Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding, count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.
