Psaumes 89
1 Intelligence d’Ethan l’Ezrahite. Je chanterai éternellement les miséricordes du Seigneur.
[A Psalm] of instruction for Aetham the Israelite. I will sing of thy mercies, O Lord, for ever: I will declare thy truth with my mouth to all generations.
2 Parce que vous avez dit: Éternellement la miséricorde sera fondée dans les cieux; votre vérité y sera affermie.
For thou hast said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy truth shall be established in the heavens.
3 J’ai établi une alliance avec mes élus; j’ai juré à David mon serviteur:
I made a covenant with my chosen ones, I sware unto David my servant.
4 J’affermirai ta race, en sorte qu’elle dure éternellement, Et je fonderai ton trône pour toutes les générations.
I will establish thy seed for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. (Pause)
5 Les cieux publieront vos merveilles, Seigneur, comme aussi votre vérité? dans l’assemblée des saints.
The heavens shall declare thy wonders, O Lord; and thy truth in the assembly of the saints.
6 Car qui, dans les nues, sera égal au Seigneur; et qui sera semblable à Dieu parmi les fils de Dieu?
For who in the heavens shall be compared to the Lord? and who shall be likened to the Lord among the sons of God?
7 Le Dieu qui est glorifié dans l’assemblée des saints, il est grand et terrible au-dessus de tous ceux qui sont autour de lui.
God is glorified in the council of the saints; great and terrible toward all that are round about him.
8 Seigneur, Dieu des armées, qui est semblable à vous; vous êtes puissant. Seigneur, et la vérité est autour de vous.
O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee.
9 C’est vous qui dominez sur la puissance de la mer, et le mouvement de ses flots, c’est vous qui l’apaisez.
Thou rulest the power of the sea; and thou calmest the tumult of its waves.
10 C’est vous qui avez humilié un superbe, comme un blessé mortellement: par la force de votre bras vous avez dispersé vos ennemis.
Thou has brought down the proud as one that is slain; and with the arm of thy power thou has scattered thine enemies.
11 À vous sont les cieux, et à vous est la terre: le globe de la terre et sa plénitude, c’est vous qui les avez fondés;
The heavens are thine, and the earth is thine: thou hast founded the world, and the fullness of it.
12 L’aquilon et la mer, c’est vous qui les avez créés.
Thou hast created the north and the west: Thabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
13 Votre bras est puissant.
Thine is the mighty arm: let thy hand be strengthened, let thy right hand be exalted.
14 La justice et le jugement sont la base de votre trône. La miséricorde et la vérité précéderont votre face;
Justice and judgment are the establishment of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
15 Bienheureux le peuple qui sait se réjouir en vous. Seigneur, c’est à la lumière de votre visage qu’ils marcheront,
Blessed is the people that knows the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.
16 Et en votre nom qu’ils tressailliront de joie tout le jour, et c’est par votre justice qu’ils seront exaltés.
And in thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
17 Puisque la gloire de leur puissance, c’est vous; et que par votre bienveillance notre corne sera exaltée.
For thou art the boast of their strength; and in thy good pleasure shall our horn be exalted,
18 Parce que c’est le Seigneur qui nous a pris sous sa protection, et le saint d’Israël, notre roi.
for [our] help is of the Lord; and of the Holy One of Israel, our king.
19 Alors vous parlâtes dans une vision à vos saints et vous dites: J’ai mis mon secours dans un homme puissant; et j’ai exalté un élu du milieu de mon peuple.
Then thou spokest in vision to thy children, and saidst, I have laid help on a mighty one; I have exalted one chosen out of my people.
20 J’ai trouvé David mon serviteur, je l’ai oint de mon huile sainte.
I have found David my servant; I have anointed him by [my] holy mercy.
21 Car ma main le secourra, et mon bras le fortifiera.
For my hand shall support him; and mine arm shall strengthen him.
22 Un ennemi ne pourra rien contre lui, et un fils d’iniquité ne pourra plus lui nuire.
The enemy shall have no advantage against him; and the son of transgression shall not hurt him again.
23 Et je taillerai en pièces à sa face ses ennemis, et ceux qui le haïssent, je les mettrai en fuite.
And I will hew down his foes before him, and put to flight those that hate him.
24 Et ma vérité et ma miséricorde seront avec lui, et en mon nom sera exaltée sa corne.
But my truth and my mercy shall be with him; and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 Et je poserai sa main sur la mer, et sa droite sur les fleuves.
And I will set his hand in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
26 Lui-même m’invoquera, disant: C’est vous qui êtes mon père, mon Dieu, et le garant de mon salut;
He shall call upon me, [saying], Thou art my Father, my God, and the helper of my salvation.
27 Et moi, je l’établirai mon premier-né, et plus élevé que tous les rois de la terre.
And I will make him [my] first-born, higher than the kings of the earth.
28 Éternellement je lui conserverai ma miséricorde, et mon alliance lui sera fidèle.
I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant [shall be] firm with him.
29 Et j’établirai sa race dans les siècles des siècles, et son trône comme les jours du ciel.
And I will establish his seed for ever and ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 Mais si ses fils abandonnent ma loi, s’ils ne marchent pas dans mes jugements,
If his children should forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
31 S’ils profanent mes justes ordonnances, et ne gardent point mes commandements,
if they should profane my ordinances, and not keep my commandments;
32 Je visiterai avec une verge leurs iniquités, et avec des fléaux leurs péchés.
I will visit their transgressions with a rod, and their sins with scourges.
33 Mais je ne retirerai pas ma miséricorde de lui, et je ne manquerai pas à ma vérité;
But my mercy I will not utterly remove from him, nor wrong my truth.
34 Et je ne profanerai point mon alliance, et les paroles qui sortent de ma bouche, je ne les rendrai pas vaines.
Neither will I by any means profane my covenant; and I will not make void the things that proceed out of my lips.
35 J’ai juré une fois par ma sainteté, que je ne mentirai pas à David:
Once have I sworn by my holiness, that I will not lie to David.
36 Sa race demeurera éternellement.
His see shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me;
37 Et son trône sera comme le soleil en ma présence, et comme la pleine lune, éternellement, et comme le témoin fidèle dans le ciel.
and as the moon [that is] established for ever, and as the faithful witness in heaven. (Pause)
38 Et vous cependant, vous avez rejeté et méprisé: vous avez éloigné votre Christ.
But thou hast cast off and set at nought, thou has rejected thine anointed.
39 Vous avez renversé l’alliance faite avec votre serviteur; vous avez profané sur la terre son sanctuaire.
Thou hast overthrown the covenant of thy servant; thou has profaned his sanctuary, [casting it] to the ground.
40 Vous avez détruit toutes ses haies; vous avez répandu dans ses forteresses la frayeur.
Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast made his strong holds a terror.
41 Tous ceux qui passaient dans le chemin l’ont pillé: il est devenu l’opprobre de ses voisins.
All that go by the way have spoiled him: he is become a reproach to his neighbours.
42 Vous avez exalté la droite de ceux qui l’opprimaient; vous avez réjoui tous ses ennemis.
Thou hast exalted the right hand of his enemies; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
43 Vous avez détourné l’aide de son glaive, et vous ne l’avez pas secouru dans la guère.
Thou hast turned back the help of his sword, and hast not helped him in the battle.
44 Vous l’avez dépouillé de son éclat, et son trône, vous l’avez brisé contre la terre.
Thou hast deprived him of glory: thou hast broken down his throne to the ground.
45 Vous abrégez les jours de sa durée: vous l’avez couvert d’ignominie.
Thou hast shortened the days of his throne: thou hast poured shame upon him. (Pause)
46 Jusques à quand. Seigneur, détournerez-vous entièrement votre face? Jusques à quand s’embrasera votre colère comme un feu?
How long, O Lord, wilt thou turn away, for ever? shall thine anger flame out as fire?
47 Souvenez-vous de ce qu’est mon être: car est-ce en vain que vous avez créé tous les fils des hommes?
Remember what my being is: for hast thou created all the sons of men in vain?
48 Quel est l’homme qui vivra, et qui ne verra pas la mort? qui retirera son âme de la main de l’enfer? (Sheol h7585)
What man is there who shall live, and not see death? shall [any one] deliver his soul from the hand of Hades? (Pause) (Sheol h7585)
49 Où sont vos miséricordes anciennes, Seigneur, telles que vous les avez jurées à David dans votre vérité?
Where are thine ancient mercies, O Lord, which thou swarest to David in thy truth?
50 Souvenez-vous, Seigneur, de l’opprobre (que j’ai gardé dans mon sein), que vos serviteurs ont souffert de la part d’un grand nombre de nations;
Remember, O Lord, the reproach of thy servants, which I have borne in my bosom, [even the reproach] of many nations;
51 Souvenez-vous de ce que vos ennemis ont reproché, Seigneur, de ce qu’ils ont reproché le changement de votre Christ.
wherewith thine enemies have reviled, O Lord: wherewith they have reviled the recompense of thine anointed.
52 Béni le Seigneur éternellement! ainsi soit, ainsi soit.
Blessed be the Lord for ever. So be it, so be it.
