Psaumes 76
1 Pour la fin, dans les louanges, psaume d’Asaph à l’occasion des Assyriens. Dieu est connu dans la Judée, dans Israël son nom est grand.
To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme or song committed to Asaph. God is knowen in Iudah: his Name is great in Israel.
2 C’est dans la paix qu’a été fait son lieu: et son habitation dans Sion.
For in Shalem is his Tabernacle, and his dwelling in Zion.
3 Là il a brisé la puissance des arcs, le bouclier, le glaive et la guerre.
There brake he the arrowes of the bowe, the shielde and the sword and the battell. (Selah)
4 Vous avez fait briller une lumière d’une manière admirable du haut des montagnes éternelles.
Thou art more bright and puissant, then the mountaines of pray.
5 Ils ont été troublés, tous les insensés de cœur.
The stout hearted are spoyled: they haue slept their sleepe, and all the men of strength haue not found their hands.
6 À votre réprimande, Dieu de Jacob, se sont endormis ceux qui montaient les chevaux.
At thy rebuke, O God of Iaakob, both the chariot and horse are cast a sleepe.
7 Vous, vous êtes terrible, et qui vous résistera, dès lors qu’ éclatera votre colère?
Thou, euen thou art to be feared: and who shall stand in thy sight, when thou art angrie!
8 Du haut du ciel, vous avez fait entendre un jugement: la terre a tremblé et s’est tenue en silence,
Thou didest cause thy iudgement to bee heard from heauen: therefore the earth feared and was still,
9 Lorsque Dieu s’est levé pour le jugement, afin de sauver tous les hommes doux de la terre.
When thou, O God, arose to iudgement, to helpe all the meeke of the earth. (Selah)
10 Aussi dans sa pensée, l’homme vous louera, et par suite de cette pensée, il célébrera un jour de fête en votre honneur.
Surely the rage of man shall turne to thy praise: the remnant of the rage shalt thou restrayne.
11 Faites des vœux au Seigneur votre Dieu, et accomplissez-les, vous tous qui, étant autour de lui, apportez des présents, à lui le terrible,
Vowe and performe vnto the Lord your God, all ye that be rounde about him: let them bring presents vnto him that ought to be feared.
12 Et à lui qui enlève le souffle vital des princes, qui est terrible aux rois de la terre.
He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the Kings of the earth.
