Psaumes 74
1 Intelligence d’Asaph.
Understanding for Asaph. O God, why hast thou cast us off unto the end: why is thy wrath enkindled against the sheep of thy pasture?
2 Souvenez-vous de votre assemblée, que vous avez possédée dès le commencement. Vous avez racheté la verge de votre héritage: Sion est le mont sur lequel vous avez habité.
Remember thy congregation, which thou hast possessed from the beginning. The sceptre of thy inheritance which thou hast redeemed: mount Sion in which thou hast dwelt.
3 Levez vos mains à jamais contre leur orgueil: combien de méchancetés a commises l’ennemi dans votre sanctuaire!
Lift up thy hands against their pride unto the end; see what things the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
4 Ceux qui vous haïssent ont signalé leur orgueil au milieu de votre solennité. Ils ont posé leurs étendards en grand nombre;
And they that hate thee have made their boasts, in the midst of thy solemnity. They have set up their ensigns for signs,
5 (Et ils n’ont pas compris ce qu’ils faisaient ), au haut du temple, comme à la sortie d’une ville.
And they knew not both in the going out and on the highest top. As with axes in a wood of trees,
6 Ils ont abattu de concert ses portes: avec la cognée et la hache à double tranchant, ils l’ont renversée.
They have cut down at once the gates thereof, with axe and hatchet they have brought it down.
7 Ils ont brûlé par le feu votre sanctuaire: ils ont souillé sur la terre le tabernacle de votre nom.
They have set fire to thy sanctuary: they have defiled the dwelling place of thy name on the earth.
8 Ils ont dit dans leur cœur, eux et tous leurs alliés ensemble: Faisons cesser de dessus la terre tous les jours de fêtes de Dieu.
They said in their heart, the whole kindred of them together: Let us abolish all the festival days of God from the land.
9 Nous ne voyons plus nos signes: il n’y a point de prophètes, et Dieu ne nous connaîtra plus.
Our signs we have not seen, there is now no prophet: and he will know us no more.
10 Jusques à quand, ô Dieu, l’ennemi se livrera-t-il à l’outrage? notre adversaire irritera-t-il toujours votre nom?
How long, O God, shall the enemy reproach: is the adversary to provoke thy name for ever?
11 Pourquoi détournez-vous votre main, et votre droite de votre sein pour toujours?
Why dost thou turn away thy hand: and thy right hand out of the midst of thy bosom for ever?
12 Mais Dieu, notre roi depuis des siècles, a opéré le salut au milieu de la terre.
But God is our king before ages: he hath wrought salvation in the midst of the earth.
13 C’est vous qui, par votre puissance, avez affermi la mer, brisé les têtes des dragons dans les eaux.
Thou by thy strength didst make the sea firm: thou didst crush the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14 C’est vous qui avez écrasé la tête du dragon: vous l’avez donné pour nourriture aux peuples de l’Éthiopie.
Thou hast broken the heads of the dragon: thou hast given him to be meat for the people of the Ethiopians.
15 C’est vous qui avez fait jaillir de la pierre des sources et des torrents; vous avez desséché les fleuves d’Ethan.
Thou hast broken up the fountains and the torrents: thou hast dried up the Ethan rivers.
16 À vous est le jour, et à vous est la nuit: c’est vous qui avez formé l’aurore et le soleil,
Thine is the day, and thine is the night: thou hast made the morning light and the sun.
17 C’est vous qui avez fait toutes les limites de la terre: l’été et le printemps, c’est vous qui les avez créés.
Thou hast made all the borders of the earth: the summer and the spring were formed by thee.
18 Souvenez-vous de ceci: l’ennemi a outragé le Seigneur, et un peuple insensé a provoqué votre nom.
Remember this, the enemy hath reproached the Lord: and a foolish people hath provoked thy name.
19 Ne livrez pas aux bêtes féroces des âmes qui vous louent; et les âmes de vos pauvres, ne les oubliez pas à jamais.
Deliver not up to beasts the souls that confess to thee: and forget not to the end the souls of thy poor.
20 Jetez les yeux sur votre alliance; parce que ceux qui sont avilis sur la terre ont été comblés de maisons d’iniquités.
Have regard to thy covenant: for they that are the obscure of the earth have been filled with dwellings of iniquity.
21 Que celui qui est dans l’humiliation ne soit pas renvoyé couvert de confusion; le pauvre et l’homme sans ressource loueront votre nom.
Let not the humble be turned away with confusion: the poor and needy shall praise thy name.
22 Levez-vous, ô Dieu, jugez votre cause: souvenez-vous des outrages que vous recevez, de ceux qui vous sont faits par un insensé tout le jour.
Arise, O God, judge thy own cause: remember thy reproaches with which the foolish man hath reproached thee all the day.
23 N’oubliez pas les clameurs de vos ennemis: l’orgueil de ceux qui vous haïssent monte toujours.
Forget not the voices of thy enemies: the pride of them that hate thee ascendeth continually.
