Psaumes 58
1 Ne perdez pas entièrement; par David, pour une inscription de titre. Si c’est bien avec vérité que vous parlez justice, jugez selon l’équité, ô fils des hommes.
“To the chief musician Al-tashcheth, by David, a Michtham.” Do you indeed, who are dumb, speak righteously? do ye judge in uprightness, O ye sons of men?
2 Car dans votre cœur vous opérez des iniquités: sur la terre vos mains travaillent avec art des injustices.
Even in [your] heart ye work injustice: on the earth do ye weigh out the violence of your hands.
3 Les pécheurs se sont égarés dès leur naissance; ils ont erré dès le sein de leur mère: ils ont dit des choses fausses.
The wicked are estranged [from goodness] from the womb: those who speak lies go astray from their very birth.
4 Leur fureur est semblable à celle d’un serpent, à celle d’un aspic sourd qui bouche ses oreilles,
They have poison like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
5 Qui n’écoutera pas la voix des enchanteurs, et d’un magicien qui charme habilement.
Which will not hearken to the voice of conjurers, yea, that of the wisest of all charmers.
6 Dieu brisera leurs dents dans leur bouche; il mettra en poudre les molaires des lions.
O God, break out their teeth in their mouth: the jaw-teeth of the young lions tear thou out, O Lord.
7 Ils seront réduits à rien comme une eau qui passe: il a tendu son arc jusqu’à ce qu’ils tombent sans force.
Let them melt away as water [which] runneth off: when each one bendeth [his bow to shoot] his arrows, let them be as if cut in pieces.
8 Comme la cire qui fond, ils seront détruits: un feu est tombé d’en haut sur eux, et ils n’ont pas vu le soleil.
As a snail which melteth, let him pass away; like the untimely birth of a woman which hath not seen the sun.
9 Avant que vos épines sentent le buisson, Dieu, dans sa colère, les engloutira comme tout vivants.
Before your pots can feel the thorns, will he take them away with a whirlwind, both the green and the burning.
10 Le juste se réjouira, lorsqu’il aura vu la vengeance: il lavera ses mains dans le sang du pécheur.
The righteous will rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he will bathe his steps in the blood of the wicked.
11 Et l’homme dira: S’il est réellement un avantage pour le juste, il est réellement un Dieu qui juge les hommes sur la terre.
So that a man shall say, Verily fruit will come for the righteous: verily there is a God that judgeth on the earth.
