Psaumes 53

1 Pour la fin, pour Maheleth. Intelligence à David. Ils se sont corrompus, et sont devenus abominables dans leurs iniquités; il n’en est pas qui fasse le bien.

“To the chief musician upon Machalath, a Maskil of David.” The worthless fool saith in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, and they are abominable [in their] injustice: there is none that doth good.

2 Dieu, du haut du ciel, a jeté un regard sur les fils des hommes, afin de voir s’il en est un intelligent ou cherchant Dieu.

God looketh down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there be one intelligent, one who seeketh for God.

3 Tous se sont détournés, tous ensemble sont devenus inutiles; il n’en est pas qui fassent le bien; il n’en est pas même un seul.

Every one [of them] hath departed [from righteousness]; altogether are they become corrupt: there is none that doth good, no, not one.

4 Est-ce qu’ils ne connaîtront point, tous ceux qui opèrent l’iniquité, qui dévorent mon peuple comme un morceau de pain?

Is there no knowledge in the workers of wickedness? who eat up my people as they eat bread: [while] they do not call on God.

5 Ils n’ont pas invoqué le Seigneur, ils ont tremblé de frayeur là où n’était pas la crainte. Parce que Dieu a dispersé les os de ceux qui plaisent aux hommes; ils ont été confondus, parce que le Seigneur les a méprisés.

There were they terrified with terror where there was no terror; for God had scattered the bones of those that encamped against thee: thou didst put them to shame, because God had rejected them.

6 Qui fera sortir de Sion le salut d’Israël? Lorsque Dieu aura ramené la captivité de son peuple, Jacob exultera: Israël sera dans l’allégresse.

Oh that some one might bring the salvation of Israel out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, [then] will Jacob be glad, [and] Israel will rejoice.
