Psaumes 18
1 Pour la fin, par le serviteur du Seigneur, David, qui a prononce à la gloire du Seigneur les paroles de ce cantique, au jour où le Seigneur l’arracha à la main de ses ennemis, et à la main de Saül, et a dit: Je vous aimerai, Seigneur, ma force:
Unto the end, for David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this canticle, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. I will love thee, O Lord, my strength:
2 Le Seigneur est mon ferme appui, et mon refuge, et mon libérateur.
The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support.
3 En le louant, j’invoquerai le Seigneur, et je serai sauvé de mes ennemis.
Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies.
4 Les douleurs de la mort m’ont environné; les torrents de l’iniquité m’ont troublé.
The sorrows of death surrounded me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me.
The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Dans ma tribulation j’ai invoqué le Seigneur, et j’ai crié vers mon Dieu;
In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.
7 La terre s’est émue et a tremblé; les fondements des montagnes ont été bouleversés et ébranlés, parce qu’il s’est irrité contre eux.
The earth shook and trembled: the foundations of the mountains were troubled and were moved, because he was angry with them.
8 La fumée a monté dans sa colère, et un feu ardent a jailli de sa face; des charbons en ont été embrasés.
There went up a smoke in his wrath: and a fire flamed from his face: coals were kindled by it.
9 Il a incliné les cieux, et il est descendu; et un nuage obscur est sous ses pieds.
He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
10 Et il est monté sur des chérubins et il s’est envolé; il s’est envolé sur les ailes des vents.
And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew; he flew upon the wings of the winds.
11 Et il a fait des ténèbres son lieu de retraite; autour de lui est sa tente, une eau ténébreuse est dans les nuées de l’air.
And he made darkness his covert, his pavilion round about him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.
12 À l’éclat qui jaillit de sa présence, les nuées se sont dissipées; il en est sorti de la grêle et des charbons de feu.
At the brightness that was before him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.
13 Et le Seigneur a tonné du ciel, et le Très-Haut a fait entendre sa voix; il est tombé de la grêle et des charbons de feu.
And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the highest gave his voice: hail and coals of fire.
14 Et il a lancé ses flèches, et il les a dissipés; il a multiplié ses éclairs, et il les a troublés.
And he sent forth his arrows, and he scattered them: he multiplied lightnings, and troubled them.
15 Alors ont paru les sources des eaux, et les fondements du globe de la terre ont été mis à nu, À votre menace. Seigneur, au souffle du vent de votre colère.
Then the fountains of waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were discovered: At thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the spirit of thy wrath.
16 Il a envoyé d’en haut, et il m’a pris, et il m’a retiré d’un gouffre d’eaux.
He sent from on high, and took me: and received me out of many waters.
17 Il m’a arraché à mes ennemis très puissants, et à ceux qui me haïssaient, parce qu’ils étaient devenus plus forts que moi.
He delivered me from my strongest enemies, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
18 Ils m’ont prévenu au jour de mon affliction, et le Seigneur s’est fait mon protecteur.
They prevented me in the day of my affliction: and the Lord became my protector.
19 Et il m’a mis au large: il m’a sauvé, parce qu’il m’aimait.
And he brought me forth into a large place: he saved me, because he was well pleased with me.
20 Et le Seigneur me rétribuera selon ma justice, et il me rétribuera selon la pureté de mes mains,
And the Lord will reward me according to my justice; and will repay me according to the cleanness of my hands:
21 Parce que j’ai gardé les voies du Seigneur, et que je n’ai pas agi avec impiété en m’éloignant de mon Dieu.
Because I have kept the ways of the Lord; and have not done wickedly against my God.
22 Puisque tous ses jugements sont devant mes yeux, et que je n’ai point éloigné de moi ses justices.
For till his judgments are in my sight: and his justices I have not put away from me.
23 Et je serai sans tache avec lui, et je me donnerai de garde de mon iniquité.
And I shall be spotless with him: and shall keep myself from my iniquity.
24 Et le Seigneur me rétribuera selon ma justice et selon la pureté de mes mains, présente à ses yeux.
And the Lord will reward me according to my justice; and according to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes.
25 Avec un saint, vous serez saint, et avec un homme innocent, vous serez innocent;
With the holy, thou wilt be holy; and with the innocent man thou wilt be innocent.
26 Et avec un homme excellent, vous serez excellent, et avec un pervers perversité.
And with the elect thou wilt be elect: and with the perverse thou wilt be perverted.
27 Parce que c’est vous qui sauverez un peuple humble, et qui humilierez les yeux des superbes.
For thou wilt save the humble people; but wilt bring down the eyes of the proud.
28 Parce que c’est vous, Seigneur, qui faites luire ma lampe; mon Dieu, illuminez mes ténèbres.
For thou lightest my lamp, O Lord: O my God enlighten my darkness.
29 Parce qu’avec vous je serai délivré de la tentation, et avec mon Dieu je franchirai un mur.
For by thee I shall be delivered from temptation; and through my God I shall go over a wall.
30 Mon Dieu, sa voie est sans souillure; les paroles du Seigneur sont éprouvées par le feu; il est le protecteur de tous ceux qui espèrent en lui.
As for my God, his way is undefiled: the words of the Lord are fire tried: he is the protector of all that trust in him.
31 Car qui est Dieu, excepté le Seigneur, ou qui est Dieu, excepté notre Dieu?
For who is God but the Lord? or who is God but our God?
32 Le Dieu qui m’a ceint de la force, et qui a fait ma voie sans tache.
God who hath girt me with strength; and made my way blameless.
33 Qui a disposé mes pieds comme les pieds des cerfs, et m’a établi sur les lieux élevés:
Who hath made my feet like the feet of harts: and who setteth me upon high places.
34 Qui a instruit mes mains au combat; et vous avez rendu mes bras comme un arc d’airain.
Who teacheth my hands to war: and thou hast made my arms like a brazen bow.
35 Et vous m’avez donné la protection de votre salut; et votre droite m’a soutenu;
And thou hast given me the protection of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath held me up: And thy discipline hath corrected me unto the end: and thy discipline, the same shall teach me.
36 Vous avez agrandi mes pas sous moi, et mes pieds n’ont pas été affaiblis.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; and my feet are not weakened.
37 Je poursuivrai mes ennemis, et je les attendrai, et je ne reviendrai point jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient entièrement défaits.
I will pursue after my enemies, and overtake them: and I will not turn again till they are consumed.
38 Je les briserai, et ils ne pourront se soutenir; ils tomberont sous mes pieds.
I will break them, and they shall not be able to stand: they shall fall under my feet.
39 Et vous m’avez ceint de force pour la guerre; et ceux qui s’insurgeaient contre moi, vous les avez renversés sous moi.
And thou hast girded me with strength unto battle; and hast subdued under me them that rose up against me.
40 Et vous m’avez livré mes ennemis par derrière; et ceux qui me haïssaient vous les avez exterminés.
And thou hast made my enemies turn their back upon me, and hast destroyed them that hated me.
41 Ils ont crié, et il n’y avait personne qui les sauvât; ils ont crié vers le Seigneur, et il ne les a pas exaucés.
They cried, but there was none to save them, to the Lord: but he heard them not.
42 Et je les broierai comme de la poussière à la face du vent; et je les ferai disparaître comme la boue des rues.
And I shall beat them as small as the dust before the wind; I shall bring them to nought, like the dirt in the streets.
43 Vous me délivrerez des contradictions du peuple, et vous m’établirez chef de nations.
Thou wilt deliver me from the contradictions of the people: thou wilt make me head of the Gentiles.
44 Un peuple que je ne connaissais pas m’a servi; en écoutant de ses oreilles, il m’a obéi.
A people, which I knew not, hath served me: at the hearing of the ear they have obeyed me.
45 Des fils étrangers m’ont menti, des fils étrangers ont vieilli, et ils ont chancelé en sortant de leurs voies.
The children that are strangers have lied to me, strange children have faded away, and have halted from their paths.
46 Le Seigneur vit! et béni mon Dieu! et que le Dieu de mon salut soit exalté!
The Lord liveth, and blessed be my God, and let the God of my salvation be exalted:
47 Vous, le Dieu qui me donnez des vengeances et qui me soumettez des peuples, qui me délivrez de mes ennemis furieux.
O God, who avengest me, and subduest the people under me, my deliverer from my enemies.
48 Et vous m’élèverez au-dessus de ceux qui s’insurgent; vous m’arracherez à l’homme inique.
And thou wilt lift me up above them that rise up against me: from the unjust man thou wilt deliver me.
49 À cause de cela, je vous confesserai parmi les nations, Seigneur, et je dirai un psaume à la gloire de votre nom,
Therefore will I give glory to thee, O Lord, among the nations, and I will sing a psalm to thy name.
50 Qui exalte les victoires de son roi, et qui fait miséricorde à son christ, David, et à sa postérité pour toujours.
Giving great deliverance to his king, and shewing mercy to David his anointed: and to his seed for ever.
