Psaumes 17
1 Prière de David.
A Prayer of David. Hear the right, O LORD, attend to my cry, give ear to my prayer, [that goeth] not out of feigned lips.
2 Que de vous émane mon jugement; que vos yeux voient l’équité.
Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thy eyes behold the things that are equal.
3 Vous avez éprouvé mon cœur, et vous l’avez visité pendant la nuit; vous m’avez exaucé en me faisant passer par le feu, et il ne s’est pas trouvé en moi d’iniquité.
Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited [me] in the night; thou hast tried me, [and] shalt find nothing; I have purposed [that] my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Afin que ma bouche ne parle pas même des œuvres des hommes, j’ai gardé, à cause des paroles de vos lèvres, des voies dures.
Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept [me from] the paths of the destroyer.
5 Affermissez mes pas dans vos sentiers, afin que mes pieds ne soient point ébranlés.
Uphold my goings in thy paths, [that] my footsteps slip not.
6 Moi, j’ai crié, parce que vous m’avez exaucé, mon Dieu; inclinez votre oreille vers moi, et exaucez mes paroles.
I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thy ear to me, [and hear] my speech.
7 Faites éclater vos miséricordes, vous qui sauvez ceux qui espèrent en vous.
Show thy wonderful loving-kindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them who put their trust [in thee] from those that rise up [against them].
8 Contre ceux qui résistent à votre droite, gardez-moi comme la prunelle de l’œil. Sous l’ombre de vos ailes, protégez-moi,
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shade of thy wings.
9 Contre la face des impies qui m’ont tourmenté. Mes ennemis ont environné mon âme,
From the wicked that oppress me, [from] my deadly enemies, [who] encompass me,
10 Ils ont fermé leurs entrailles, leur bouche a parlé orgueil,
They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
11 Après m’avoir rejeté, maintenant ils m’environnent, ils ont résolu d’incliner leurs yeux vers la terre.
They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
12 Ils m’ont saisi comme un lion préparé pour la proie, et comme le petit d’un lion qui habite dans des lieux cachés.
Like as a lion [that] is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
13 Levez-vous, Seigneur, prévenez-le et renversez-le, arrachez mon âme à l’impie, votre épée à double tranchant
Arise, O LORD disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, [who is] thy sword:
14 Aux ennemis de votre main. Seigneur, séparez-les pendant leur vie du petit nombre de ceux qui sont à vous sur la terre; leur sein est rempli de vos biens cachés. Ils sont rassasiés d’enfants, et ils laissent le reste de leurs biens à leurs petits-enfants.
From men [who are] thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, [who have] their portion in [this] life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid [treasure]: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their [substance] to their babes.
15 Mais moi, dans ma justice, j’apparaîtrai en votre présence; je serai rassasié lorsque votre gloire m’aura apparu.
As for me, I shall behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
