Psaumes 110

1 Psaume de David.

Yahweh said to my lord [the king], “Sit [here], close to me, in the place of highest honor [MTY] until I [completely defeat] your enemies [MET] [and] make [them like] a stool for your feet!”

2 Le Seigneur fera sortir de Sion la verge de votre puissance; dominez au milieu de vos ennemis.

Yahweh [also said to him], “I will extend your power as king from Jerusalem [to other lands]; you will rule over all your enemies.

3 Avec vous est le principe au jour de votre puissance, dans les splendeurs des saints: c’est de mon sein qu’avant que lucifer existât je vous ai engendré.

On the day that you lead your armies into battle, many of your people will volunteer [to join your army]. Like the dew refreshes the earth early in the morning, young men will [encourage you by] coming to help you.”

4 Le Seigneur a juré et il ne s’en repentira point: Vous êtes prêtre pour l’éternité, selon l’ordre de Melchisédech.

Yahweh has made a solemn promise, and he will never change his mind; he has said to the king, “You will be a priest forever [serving Yahweh] like Melchizedek did.”

5 Le Seigneur est à votre droite: il a brisé des rois au jour de sa colère.

Yahweh stands [in the place of highest honor] your right side; when he becomes angry, he will defeat [many kings].

6 Il exercera ses jugements parmi les nations, qu’il remplira de ruines, il écrasera sur la terre les têtes d’un grand nombre.

He will judge and punish the people of [many] nations; he will fill the land with their corpses. He will crush the heads of other kings all over the earth.

7 Il boira du torrent dans le chemin: c’est pour cela qu’il lèvera la tête.

But my lord the king will drink from streams near the road; he will be refreshed after defeating his enemies.
