Proverbes 2
1 Mon fils, si tu reçois mes paroles, et si tu caches mes commandements en toi,
[My] son, if thou wilt receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it with thee;
2 En sorte que ton oreille écoute la sagesse: incline ton cœur pour connaître la prudence.
thine ear shall hearken to wisdom; thou shalt also apply thine heart to understanding, and shalt apply it to the instruction of thy son.
3 Car si tu invoques la sagesse, et que tu inclines ton cœur vers la prudence;
For it thou shalt call to wisdom, and utter thy voice for understanding;
4 Si tu la recherches comme l’argent, et que tu creuses pour la trouver, comme les trésors:
and if thou shalt seek it as silver, and search diligently for it as for treasures;
5 Alors tu comprendras la crainte du Seigneur, et tu trouveras la science de Dieu.
then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
6 Parce que c’est le Seigneur qui donne la sagesse, et que de sa bouche sortent la prudence et la science.
For the Lord gives wisdom; and from his presence [come] knowledge and understanding,
7 Il veillera au salut des hommes droits, et protégera ceux qui marchent dans la simplicité,
and he treasures up salvation for them that walk uprightly: he will protect their way;
8 Conservant les sentiers de la justice, et gardant les voies des saints.
that he may guard the righteous ways: and he will preserve the way of them that fear him.
9 C’est alors que tu comprendras la justice et le jugement, et l’équité et tout bon sentier.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment; and shalt direct all thy course aright.
10 Si la sagesse entre dans ton cœur, et que la science à ton âme plaise,
For if wisdom shall come into thine understanding, and discernment shall seem pleasing to thy soul,
11 Le conseil te gardera, et la prudence te sauvera,
good counsel shall guard thee, and holy understanding shall keep thee;
12 Afin que tu sois arraché à une voie mauvaise, et à l’homme qui tient des discours pervers;
to deliver thee from the evil way, and from the man that speaks nothing faithfully.
13 À ceux qui abandonnent le droit chemin, et qui marchent par des voies ténébreuses,
Alas [for those] who forsake right paths, to walk in ways of darkness;
14 Qui se réjouissent lorsqu’ils ont mal fait, qui tressaillent de joie dans les choses les plus mauvaises,
who rejoice in evils, and delight in wicked perverseness;
15 Dont les voies son perverses, et dont les démarches sont infâmes.
whose paths are crooked, and their courses winding;
16 Afin que tu sois arraché à la femme d’autrui, et à l’étrangère, qui amollit ses paroles;
to remove thee far from the straight way, and to estrange thee from a righteous purpose. [My] son, let not evil counsel overtake thee,
17 Qui abandonne le guide de sa jeunesse,
[of her] who has forsaken the instruction of her youth, and forgotten the covenant of God.
18 Et qui a oublié l’alliance de son Dieu: sa maison penche vers la mort, et ses sentiers vers les enfers;
For she has fixed her house near death, and [guided] her wheels near Hades with the giants.
19 Tous ceux qui entrent chez elle ne reviendront pas, et ne prendront pas les sentiers de la vie.
None that go by her shall return, neither shall they take hold of right paths, for they are not apprehended of the years of life.
20 Afin que tu marches dans une voie bonne, et que tu gardes les sentiers des justes.
For had they gone in good paths, they would have found the paths of righteousness easy.
21 Car les hommes qui sont droits habiteront sur la terre, et les simples y demeureront constamment.
For the upright shall dwell in the earth, and the holy shall be left behind in it.
22 Mais les impies seront exterminés de la terre; et les méchants en seront enlevés.
The paths of the ungodly shall perish out of the earth, and transgressors shall be driven away from it.
