Proverbes 11
1 La balance trompeuse est une abomination auprès du Seigneur; le poids juste est selon sa volonté.
A deceptive balance, is an abomination to Yahweh, but, a full weight, is his delight.
2 Où sera l’orgueil, là aussi sera l’outrage; mais où est l’humilité, là aussi est la sagesse.
When pride cometh, then cometh contempt, but, with the modest, is wisdom.
3 La simplicité des justes les dirigera; et la trahison des pervers les ruinera.
The integrity of the upright, shall guide them, but, the crookedness of the treacherous, shall be their ruin.
4 Les richesses ne serviront pas, au jour de la vengeance; mais la justice délivrera de la mort.
Wealth, shall not profit, in the day of wrath, but, righteousness, shall deliver from death.
5 La justice du simple dirigera sa voie; et dans son impiété succombera l’impie.
The righteousness of the blameless, shall smooth his way, but, by his own lawlessness, shall the lawless one, fall.
6 La justice des hommes droits les délivrera; et dans leurs propres embûches seront pris les iniques.
The righteousness of the upright, shall deliver them, but, by their own craving, shall the treacherous be captured.
7 Un homme impie mort, il n’y aura plus aucune espérance; et l’attente des ambitieux périra.
When the lawless man dieth, his expectation, perisheth, and, the hope of strong men, hath vanished.
8 Le juste a été délivré de l’angoisse, et l’impie sera livré pour lui.
The righteous man, out of distress, is delivered, then cometh a lawless man into his place.
9 Un dissimulé trompe par sa bouche son ami; mais les justes seront délivrés par la science.
With the mouth, a profane man destroyeth his neighbour, but, through knowledge, shall righteous men be delivered.
10 Au bonheur des justes exultera une cité, et à la ruine des impies il y aura louange.
When it is, well with the righteous, the city, exulteth, When the lawless perish, there is a shout of triumph.
11 Par la bénédiction des justes, sera exaltée une cité; et par la bouche des impies elle sera renversée.
When the upright are blessed, exalted is the city, but, by the mouth of the lawless, it is overthrown.
12 Celui qui méprise son ami manque de cœur; mais un homme prudent se taira.
He that sheweth contempt for his neighbour, lacketh sense, but, a man of understanding, observeth silence.
13 Celui qui marche frauduleusement révèle les secrets; mais celui qui est fidèle d’esprit tient cachée la confidence de son ami.
He that goeth about talebearing, revealeth a secret, but, he that is faithful in spirit, concealeth a matter.
14 Où il n’y a point de gouvernement, le peuple croulera; mais le salut est là où il y a beaucoup de conseils.
With no guidance, a people will fall, but, safety, lieth in the greatness of the counsellor.
15 Il sera affligé par le malheur, celui qui répond pour un étranger; mais celui qui se garde du lacs sera en sûreté.
He that becometh surety for a stranger, goeth to utter ruin, but, he that hateth striking hands, is secure.
16 La femme gracieuse trouvera la gloire; et les forts auront des richesses.
A gracious wife, obtaineth honour, but, the diligent, shall obtain wealth.
17 Il fait du bien à son âme, l’homme miséricordieux; mais celui qui est cruel rejette même ses proches.
The man of lovingkindness, dealeth well with his own soul, but the cruel man, troubleth his own flesh.
18 L’impie fait une œuvre qui n’est pas stable; mais pour celui qui sème la justice, il y a une récompense assurée.
The lawless man, earneth the wages of falsehood, but, he that soweth righteousness, hath the reward of fidelity.
19 La clémence prépare la vie, et la recherche du mal, la mort.
A righteous son, [turneth] to life, but, he that pursueth wickedness, to his own death.
20 Abominable est au Seigneur un cœur dépravé, et sa bienveillance est pour ceux qui marchent avec simplicité.
The abomination of Yahweh, are they of perverse heart, but, his delight, are the men of blameless life.
21 Lors même qu’une main serait dans une main, le méchant ne sera pas innocent; mais la race des justes sera sauvée.
Hand to hand, the wicked man shall not be held innocent, but, the seed of the righteous, hath been delivered.
22 C’est un anneau d’or aux naseaux d’une truie, qu’une femme belle et insensée.
As a ring of gold in the snout of a swine, is a woman of beauty who hath abandoned discretion.
23 Le désir des justes est toute espèce de bien; l’attente des impies est la fureur.
The desire of the righteous, is only good, the expectation of the lawless, is wrath.
24 Les uns partagent leurs propres biens et deviennent plus riches; les autres ravissent ce qui n’est pas à eux, et toujours ils sont dans la détresse.
There is who scattereth, and increaseth yet more, and who withholdeth of what is due, only to come to want.
25 L’âme qui bénit sera engraissée; et celui qui enivre, lui-même aussi sera enivré.
The liberal soul, shall be enriched, and, he that refresheth, shall himself also be refreshed.
26 Celui qui cache le blé sera maudit des peuples; mais la bénédiction viendra sur la tête de ceux qui le vendent.
He that keepeth back corn, the populace will curse him, but there is, a blessing, for the head of him that selleth.
27 C’est avec raison que se lève au point du jour celui qui cherche les biens; mais celui qui recherche les maux en sera accablé.
He that diligently seeketh good, aimeth at favour, but, he that studieth mischief, it shall come on himself.
28 Celui qui se confie dans ses richesses tombera précipitamment; mais les justes comme la feuille verdoyante germeront.
He that trusteth in his riches, the same, shall fall, but, like the leaf, shall the righteous break forth.
29 Celui qui trouble sa maison possédera les vents, et celui qui est insensé servira le sage.
He that troubleth his own house, shall inherit the wind, but, a servant, shall the foolish be, to the wise in heart.
30 Le fruit du juste est un arbre de vie; et celui qui prend soin des âmes est sage.
The fruit of the righteous, is a tree of life, and, he that rescueth souls, is wise.
31 Si le juste sur la terre reçoit sa punition, combien plus l’impie et le pécheur?
Lo! the righteous, in the earth shall be recompensed, how much more the lawless and the sinner.
